From Behind the Screen

Description

If I told you I could offer you the powers to control your own life,

the catch being it's all just a game,

would you take it?

Foreword

Jiyeon stared at the login screen for a long while before she began typing in her credentials.

Username: FadeAway

Password: ********

Login - Cancel

She glanced back and forth between the login button and the cancel button. This seemed quite a bit sketchy. She thought long and hard, remembering what her chat friend's message was. I can give you the powers to control your own life, but it'd all be a game. Are you willing to take the chance? She looked around her room, deep in thought as she pondered about how she felt about her life as it was. She turned back to the screen. Anything could happen if she pressed login. She could either gain something or lose something. At this point in her life, she was willing to risk it. She pressed the login button causing a bright light to suddenly pour forth from her screen. She shielded her eyes with her arm, squinting as she looked at it. It looked like a tunnel, as if something were at the end. Curious enough, she leaned forward, reaching out to touch her screen when a mighty force her into the screen. Within seconds, Oh Jiyeon was swallowed by her computer monitor, leaving behind no trace of her presence.

Jin scrolled through the messages he shared with his online friend, FadeAway. He knew close to nothing about this person, yet he felt as if she was his closest friend. He longed to meet her one day, though he knew it'd probably be impossible. Reaching the last message, he paused, feeling a slight pang of guiltiness at the information he had sent her. He sincerely hoped it wasn't some kind of gimmick that would rob FadeAway of her identity or anything like that. All he remembered was what the man behind the register of the bookstore had told him.

"There's someone on your mind, isn't there? You want to see them don't you?" The old man asked, putting Jin's books into a bag.

"Yes, but-" Jin replied, getting cut off by the old man.

"But you can't."

"Yes, but-"

"But... I can help you. If you really want to see them, give them this info. You'll be thankful you did, kid." The old man said as he slid a small card towards Jin.

He shook his head at the memory and immediately began regretting what he'd done. Just as he was about to shut down his computer, a notification popped up on his screen.

Accept Incoming Delivery?

Yes - No

Jin stared at the notification for a long while, suspicious of what it was for. Reluctantly, he clicked yes, light pouring forth from his monitor. Jin scooted backwards, caught off guard by the bright light. He heard the faint sound of screaming and an object flying towards him from within the screen. Jin closed his eyes and when he opened them again, he found himself lying on the floor with a girl hovering over him. The two gazed into each others' eyes, both questioning what had just happened.

Jin gulped, taking a chance and popping the question, "F-FadeAway, is that you?"

Jiyeon looked at Jin in astonishment, surprised at the mention of her username. "PinkyPrincess?"

Before anymore words could be exchanged, Jin's door flew open as his bandmates came crashing in.

"What's going on, Jin?" Rapmon shouted.

"There was a bright light-" JHope added.

"And I heard screaming-" Jimin chimed in.

"Is that a girl?" Taehyung asked, quirking a brow as he looked at the two on the ground.

The six boys looked at each other before looking back at the two on the ground. "A GIRL?"
