Assembly of Unexpected Friends

School From Hell

(I liiiiiive! I know I for being gone for so long, I hope you guys enjoy this chapter anyways)

“No.”

“Yes.”

“No!”

“Come on, why not?!”

“Because it makes me uncomfortable and I know that people are going to stare...”

“Since when did you care what others think? Pleeeease? For me? I'll give you some of my lunch...”

“...don't you try to pull one of those on me Dara.”

“But... it has corn.”

“........fine.”

Bom didn't like this. Not one bit. She was on the verge of hyperventilating at any moment and there was nothing she could do but sit there and take it. Much to her chagrin, Dara had somehow managed to drag her out to eat lunch with her in the cafeteria today. She glanced around room tentatively, aware of the stares that she was receiving. The gloomy girl's appearance in public was a rarity in itself, but seeing her actually having lunch with someone in public... now that was unheard of. The hooded girl brooded silently from her seat next to her friend.

“Don't look so glum. You're scaring people.” Dara frowned as she unpacked the lunchbox she had made and began laying out the separate layers in front of her and Bom. The former felt as if she were being scolded by her own mother and simply pouted in rebellion.

“I can't help it... For the past year I've spent every single lunch hour in the library. This is... strange.”

Some of their classmates passed by and waved cheerily to Dara but were too afraid to make eye contact with Bom as they abruptly continued on their way after greeting the former.

“Are you sure you want me to eat with you? I think everyone is too afraid to approach our table and talk to you. I don't want to get in between you and your friends.”

“Don't worry about me. Besides, we're friends now too. And since we've confided in each other about you-know-what I think it only makes sense that I keep you in my sight at all times.”

“That's funny, when I asked for your help I don't remember asking for a babysitter.” Bom pouted. Being forced out into the public was not on her agenda. She was slowly beginning to regret taking the adults' advice of recruiting help.

“Did you hear?”

“Hear what?”

She's back.”

“You mean she's returned from Europe already? Six months flew by so fast.”

A particular phrase caught Bom's attention and she twisted ever-so-slightly in her seat as she eavesdropped on a nearby table's conversation. Dara didn't seem to notice the slight commotion as she had already begun digging into her meal with no reservations. Hearing the news of someone having returned, Bom contemplated to herself for a moment. It couldn't be...?

BANG!

Suddenly the double doors of the cafeteria sprung open, causing everyone in the room to jump and look in the direction of the commotion. Gasps and whispers filled the air as a figure made its presence known amongst the student body. A girl with long blonde hair and sharp, fierce eyes confidently stepped forward with eyes scanning the vicinity. She had a pair of expensive-looking sunglasses perched atop her head and she sported a studded leather jacket—branded no doubt—on top of her school uniform, giving off a Don't With Me aura. Dara didn't know who this chick was but she did know that she was definitely intimidated by her.

“W-who is that...?” Bom didn't reply as she was too busy wishing she could disappear as she held her hand up to the side of her face, shielding it from people's view.

One of Bom and Dara's classmates sitting at a table next to them leaned over slightly and whispered, “That's Lee Chaerin. You don't want to mess with her. I hear she just came back from an overseas trip over the last six months. Her father is a famous fashion designer from abroad and she joined him in his recent travels while he was touring the world.”

“I don't understand. Why does everyone seem to be afraid of her?”

“She's not exactly the most friendly person and her wealth and threatening presence make it so that no one will mess with her. There's also the fact that she's a Black Widow that could poison and kill you at any moment...”

Dara gulped back her nervousness as she looked back at Chaerin. She jolted back in her seat when the blonde looked in her and Bom's direction, appearing to have found what she had been searching for. Dara immediately spun around in her seat, shrinking much like the girl next to her already was. She felt sweat beading on her forehead as she heard footsteps approaching them.

“You with the hood.”

Dara slowly craned her neck to look over at Bom who sat next to her with an unreadable expression on her face.

“I know you heard me. Get up.” Chaerin narrowed her eyes as she stood impatiently behind the girls. You could slice the tension in the room with a knife. Their peers watched in both curiosity and fear as Bom continued to ignore Chaerin, clearly pissing off the blonde.

“Fine. I'll make you get up myself. Come on, you're coming with me.” In sheer surprise, Bom let out a small strangled yelp as she felt someone tug on the back of her hood. She subconsciously sat up from her seat, making it easy for Chaerin to proceed to drag her out of the cafeteria. Dara watched the two with a horrified expression on her face. She was at a loss at what to do to save her friend. As the two girls neared the entrance Chaerin turned her head and sneered at everyone else in the room.

“This is between me and her. If I see any of you come out after us... well, let's just say there won't be a you anymore.” The young woman emphasized her point as she held up a long-nailed hand with mists of poison emanating from her finger tips. With that she tossed a discombobulated Bom out the doors and slammed them closed. There was an eerie silence for a short amount of time before the whispers picked up and the rumors already began to spread. Students voiced their disappointment in not being able to witness the fight between two of the most feared girls in the school.

“Man, first Park Bom shows up in the cafeteria. And now Lee Chaerin is calling her out for a fight... today is just chocked full of surprises.” A student commented aloud. Dara smacked her palm to her forehead. She couldn't help but feel that this was all her fault. If she hadn't dragged Bom out in the first place, she wouldn't have been spotted by the mysterious she-devil. Something tugged at the back of her mind however. She wondered if her picking out Bom from the crowd of students was all purely luck or if she had intended to seek her out from the beginning. Nevertheless, Dara felt she had to do something and despite Chaerin's earlier warnings, she got up and proceeded to make her way out of the cafeteria. Students paused in their bouts of gossip as they watched the brave girl leave.

“What the hell was that?” Came the comment of a certain bubblegum-haired pixie. Sunny hovered around Luhan's head in her tiny, magical form before poofing back to her human form beside him. She frowned when she didn't receive a reply from the werewolf.

“Since when did you become a bookworm?” Sunny questioned as she eyed the old text that was currently in Luhan's hands. His brows were furrowed as a deep look of concentration decorated his features.

“Don't bother. He's been so focused on that book he won't answer to any of us no matter what we try.” Kris replied from his spot on the other side of Luhan.

“What's in that book that makes it so much more interesting than what just happened between that Black Widow chick and the walking raincloud?” Sunny quirked her head to the side as the dragon merely replied with a shrug.

“Helloooo~ Earth to Lulu~” The pixie waved her hand

After a bit of her pestering Luhan finally sighed in annoyance, then looked up at her and sighed, “Before you rudely interrupted me I was trying to decipher this Latin text if you don't mind. So if you could just shoo and leave me to my business, that would be great.” He waved his hand in a shooing motion as he went back to focusing on his book.

"That's it?" The pixie raised a brow.

Luhan's eyes flicked upwards, "What is that supposed to mean?"

"It means that's easy-peasy. I could get it done no problem."

"You mean you can...?"

"Read Latin? Duh. Most pixies can. I know that everyone sees us as tiny bugs that just fly around spreading glitter and magic everywhere but we can be intellectual too." Sunny pouted. Luhan couldn't help as his wolf ears perked up at hearing this bit of news.

"What?! Seriously? Not even D.O is that big of a nerd!" The young warlock sitting further down the lunch table overheard the werewolf's comment and flipped him the bird while proceeding to eat his sandwich. Chen couldn't help but laugh as well, earning a glare from the owl-eyed boy.

"Well it's true. See this section here?" Sunny pointed to a particular line that she had seen Luhan struggling with. "It's talking about the conditions in which a male is in after his life force has been drained." Kris couldn't help his own curiosity as he leaned over from his side to see what the girl was talking about.

"Life force? Drained? What the hell are you reading Luhan?" Kris inquired.

"It's this book I picked up from the library," Luhan rolled his eyes at Kris' expression that gave off the impression that he wasn't even aware there was a library at their school. "I think it has some relation to to all of the sick males that have been appearing on campus lately like Minho."

"But he seemed fine the other day."

"I know. That got me stumped too. So I'm hoping this book can also explain that to me as well." He turned to face the pink-haired sprite. "Do you think you can help me translate more of this book?"

Sunny rolled her eyes, "Oh so now you want me around?"

Please, Sunny. I need to know what's going on at this school. You and everyone else know that something fishy is going on that the school isn't telling us.”

“What do I get in return for helping you out?”

Luhan sighed, “What do you want?”

“I want half of your snapback collection and for you to put in a few good words about me with Xiumin oppa during your soccer practices.” The pixie bit her lip shyly as her eyes traveled to the adorable snow man who sat at the furthest end of EXO's lunch table innocently slurping away at a bowl of noodles.

“Ugh... fine fine. You have a deal.” As much as it pained him to part with some of his beloved caps, Luhan was far too desperate to let this chance go. He was getting so close and he could feel it. Sunny squealed happily before scooting over and immediately getting to work.

Dara jogged around the hallways desperately searching for any sign of Bom or Chaerin. Hearing some commotion from not to far in the distance, she followed the sounds. Finally, she spotted the blonde who had poor Bom cornered and looking like she was about to beat her up. Her pace quickened as she rushed to stop them before any punches could be thrown or any hair was pulled or any venom was dispersed.

"I finally found you Park Bom. I've been looking for you everywhere. Now that I've caught you it's time for you to get what you deserve..." Chaerin narrowed her eyes at the slightly frightened Bom.

Oh no...! I might not make it! Dara thought worriedly.

Suddenly, Chaerin leapt towards Bom and wrapped her in a tight bear hug.

"BOM-AH! You don't know how much I missed you! Did you miss me while I was gone? Have you lost weight? You look thinner. You better have been eating properly!!" Bom winced as her lungs were crushed in the embrace. The black widow hopped excitedly as she continued to squeeze the breathless girl. Seeing the scene unfold before her, Dara stumbled forward in confusion. Her steps slowed as she slowly approached the two girls.

"Um... what's going on here?"

Bom heaved and inhaled deeply as Chaerin finally pulled away from her hug to look at the unfamiliar face. "Who is this?" She tilted her head curiously, looking suddenly a thousand times less threatening than she had about five minutes ago in the cafeteria.

"I should be asking the same thing..." Dara scratched the side of her head.

Bom sighed before starting her introductions. "'Rinnie this is Dara. She's a new friend I made this year. Dara this Chaerinnie. She's what I guess you could call my childhood friend. Our parents have been good friends with each other since we were little." Chaerin flashed Dara a genuine smile as she held out her hand to the brunette. Dara reached her hand out to return the handshake only to be suddenly yanked forward and pulled into a tight hug by the other girl. She froze in shock, not really sure of what to make of the situation. Her gaze met Bom's who stood there shaking her head like none of this was out of the ordinary.

"Any friend of Bom is a friend of mine!" Chaerin pulled away. "Although you dress a little too bright for my liking, if Bom thinks you're a good person then I believe her! As you probably know, she doesn't have very many friends... which I don't understand. She's just so adorable!"

Dara stared at the spider demoness with a bewildered expression. "Yes she is adorable but she dresses a little... dark, don't you think?"

"What? That's one of the cutest things about her." Chaerin turned to Bom and linked her arm in hers. "Doesn't our dark Bommie look cute in her oversized black sweaters?"

"Right...cute." Dara turned to look at Bom, "Since you two have known each other for so long... does she also know about...?"

Bom's eyes widened and she faintly shook her head to try and stop her from revealing too much about her secret.

"Know about what?" The leather jacket-clad girl peered over at the dark-haired girl beside her and narrowed her cat-like eyes. "Are you keeping something a secret from me?"

"W-what? No..." Bom shrank in her spot.

"Yah!! Park Bom! You told this girl who was but a stranger to you only months ago a secret about yourself when you haven't even told ME, your childhood friend?! No offense Dara."

"None taken." The brunette shrugged.

Bom groaned as she pinched the bridge of her nose from behind her glasses. "This is not what I had envisioned when I decided to seek help... but fine." Suddenly, Bom eyed both girls with a dead serious expression. "You both need to follow me. I don't feel like this place is safe enough for us to speak. I know of a place where we can talk in private." She then her heel and started heading in a certain direction with the two other girls following her obediently. They both exchanged confused glances with each other as they continued to make their way to wherever the girl was leading them.

"Um...."

Minji blinked with a confused look on her face. Standing before her was Bom and standing behind her were two faces that were only faintly familiar but they definitely weren't faces that she was expecting to see here in the library. After Luhan's visit just the day before seeing these girls was only adding to Minji's confusion.

"Sorry about not giving you a heads up in advance but I brought some friends... I hope that's okay?"

The redhead smiled, "Of course it's okay. The library is open to any and all students after all."

Dara was really lost now. She was given the impression that Bom was a loner with no friends, where did all these people who have known her for a long time come from?

"So is this where you would hide all the time Bommie? It's so dark in here it's almost like a spooky lair... definitely my style." Chaerin commented as her eyes scanned all over the large room.

Minji giggled, "Thank you, I do try my best."

"Girls, this is Minji, a young witch. She's a year younger than us and she's the aid for the library. If there's anything you need to look up, she's your girl. She's been a huge help to me this past year in my search for a solution to my problem..."

"I thought I was the only one you had told your secret to?" Dara pouted, slightly hurt that Bom may have been fibbing about only trusting her with her secret.

"You mean the one about her being a Succubus?" The witch asked.

"Did... did she just say Succubus?!" Chaerin's head whipped back from looking around to stare at the back of Bom's head. It was clearly obvious that she was unaware of Bom's true nature up until now. Bom didn't reply however because she was too busy staring at the younger girl with a shocked expression on her face.

"H-how did you know?! I never told you what I was!"

Minji giggled once more, "Oh please, do you really think I'm that ignorant? After seeing all the books you've been looking into for the past several months do you really expect me to not catch on and figure out what you really are?"

Embarrassed, Bom merely nodded as she rubbed the back of her head. "Oh... I guess that makes sense... hehe..."

"That's all fine and dandy but can we get back to the fact that Bommie is a SUCCUBUS? Um hello?!" Chaerin flailed excitedly. Bom gestured for the other girls to take a seat at one of the large tables and they followed suit.

"I guess now's a better time than ever to finally explain everything to you guys, especially 'Rinnie and Minji." She took in a deep breath before starting her story of how it all started about a year ago. She basically gave the same spiel to Chaerin and Minji that she had to Dara from yesterday.

"That's amazing..." Minji said with a look of fascination in her eyes. She slowly reached for Bom's hands, causing the girl to flinch despite the fact that her powers wouldn't work on females—call it a reflex. "I've never met a real Succubus in person before. Your powers are incredible."

"Seriously Bommie, if you weren't so afraid of revealing your true identity, you could break a lot of hearts at this school." Chaerin added slyly. Dara nodded in agreement.

"I could also physically hurt a lot of boys at this school." Bom frowned. "I don't want to hurt anyone. You've seen them... my 'victims'...it's terrible. I mean sure, after a while they're back to normal but I can't help but feel that I'm making them suffer."

"Why do you do it then? I know you have less control of your powers and all but can't you just do your best to avoid men at all costs?" Minji asked. Bom looked at Dara and their gazes met with the latter giving her a knowing look. This is the last bit of her deep dark secret that she had confided in to the other girl.

"There's one last condition to my sudden surge in power."

"And that is?"

"Well, we Succubi drain of the life force of men in order to retain our own energy to live and thrive. If we take too long and our energy levels drop to a dangerous level then we really lose control..."

The other girls sitting around the table leaned in, wanting to know the specifics of what Bom was getting at. Minji seemed especially enthusiastic to learn more about Bom's special abilities with the way her eyes were twinkling.

"You guys know that I really hate using my powers so I'm especially hesitant to drain anyone. Every so often that will cause me to actually black out. And in my moment of unconsciousness the Succubus within me takes over and will stop at nothing to replenish my strength. And that usually means 'attacking' the first male I see. I've tried my best to control it each time but I'm powerless against it. It's like I've lost the ability to control my limbs and my body just moves on its own as I watch helplessly. And then usually after it ends I wake up feeling completely refreshed sometimes with no recollection of the incident at all, all while feeling incredibly guilty at the same time." Bom bit her lip. The others could tell that Bom was resentful of her powers and truly meant no harm to anyone. Dara reached a hand out and rested it on the girl's wrist. She gave her a reassuring smile.

"Don't worry Bommie. I'm sure I can speak for all of us when I say that we are going to try our damn-well hardest to help you figure out a solution to your problem." The other two girls nodded vigorously in agreement.

"Unnie, you're practically the only person who I can really call a friend at this school so helping you solve this issue is the least I could do. You don't deserve to suffer like this." Minji stated. Bom smiled gratefully at the girls.

"I know this may seem a bit odd but I'm wondering... how exactly do you drain men of their life force? Because from what I've heard about Succubi from other sources, they tend to be... ual creatures." Minji and Dara's eyes widened at Chaerin's statement and immediately turned their attention to the now heavily blushing Bom.

"Bommie you haven't... have you?!" Dara exclaimed, causing Bom to grow more flustered.

"N-no!! I haven't! I SWEAR!" She screamed while waving her hands around in her defense.

"How can you be so sure? You said yourself that you sometimes have no recollection of the incidents when you wake up, right?"

"That's true but I'm 100% positive I haven't done anything like... that." The girl shuddered. "I may not remember what happens but I can at least understand how my body works. I guarantee that I'm still a !"

"You're a ?" Dara giggled.

"Y-yes! There's nothing wrong with that!" Bom pressed her palms against her heated cheeks. She did not enjoy how out of hand this conversation was getting.

"Oh calm down, I'm just messing with you. I haven't been with a guy either." The brunette teased. The other two girls just giggled at Bom's adorably flustered state.

"So if you don't have with those boys then what do you do?" Minji asked, still curious about the answer to Chaerin's question.

"W-well... is kind an archaic form of life-draining these days. Don't get me wrong, there are still many of my kind who still replenish their energy that way, even if it means putting the man's life at risk. It's just that over the last two centuries, Succubi and Incubi have adapted into the normal human lifestyle and wanted to outgrow the cliché of sneaking into a man or woman's home to seduce them and drain them of their life energy. Over time we have been able to get away with smaller intimate acts in order to sustain our lives. Something as simple as a kiss is enough to satiate a Succubus temporarily. Much more heated and passionate kisses, of course, will get you more energy and so on and so forth until you reach the actual act of , which results in a full energy-recovery and can last us at least a good couple months or so before we have to do it again."

"So you're saying that you just make out with men in order to keep up your energy?"

Bom, who's face was now a deep crimson, fiddled with her fingers before replying, "Um...yeah."

"Poor you." Chaerin brooded enviously and Bom just pouted in response.

"Well now you girls know my big secret... promise me you won't tell anyone. I can't risk having anyone else at this school find out. So far it's just you guys, the school nurse and the school chairman who are aware of my condition and I'd like to keep it that way." Chaerin and Dara nodded in agreement, which left Minji who was oddly silent from her seat.

"Um.... about that. You might be encountering a problem soon."

"What is it, Minji?" Bom cocked her head to one side.

"You see, someone came by the library yesterday and they were looking into books on illnesses--more specifically the resulting conditions of your 'incidents'... they ended up checking out one of the books that you had been studying recently, Unnie." The dark-haired girl gulped.

"Who was it?"

"It's some guy from your year I think... umm... Luhan, was it?" Bom's jaw dropped, along with Chaerin and Dara's.

"WHAT?!"

Lu watch out!!

Luhan's eyebrows shot up as he narrowly missed a soccer ball that whizzed past his head a mere centimeter away. He didn't even realize that he had been spacing out on the soccer field during practice. A concerned Xiumin jogged up to him to see what was going on.

“Hey, you okay? You seem a bit distracted ever since the lunch hour ended. Are you alright?” Luhan just shook his head.

“Yeah... I'm okay. I just have a lot on my mind is all.” With Sunny's help, Luhan had discovered that the dog-eared pages in the book he borrowed were chapters on a race of demons known as Succubi. It didn't have very much specific information besides the fact that they were female creatures who seduced men in order to steal their life force. Still, it was enough information that lead him to believe that there had to be a Succubus hiding somewhere at this school. When Sunny translated the text to him he couldn't help but think about the mysterious Park Bom that day she snuck glances at Minho when he was in his weakened state. But she couldn't be a succubus could she? The book made them seem like loose women who actively threw themselves at men—which was the exact opposite of the girl who walked around in ten layers of clothing. He shook his head of the ridiculous thought. He had to have been mistaken. There were hundreds of other females on campus and one of them was bound to be the culprit behind all the 'zombies'.

*peeks out* Hello...? Are you guys still out there? I know I've been MIA on this story for a long time I'm so sorry I'm the worst author! I could list off my excuses but I won't bore you with that. >_< (Although part of it was because I was so focused on trying to finish a painting of Park Bom to submit in time for my school's student art show—it didn't get accepted but that's okay. I still super love it)

Chaerin finally makes her appearance! She's a little OOC but it's really only when she's alone with Bom. When she's out in public she's back to being badass 'Baddest Female' CL. I know these last couple chapters have had a lack of Lu/Bom/Kris interaction (I hope I'm not boring you ;_;) but there will be some in the next chapters to come! Prepare for some kuhhh-rrazy stuff! (ok maybe not too crazy) And as usual, please comment down below what you think of the story so far~ ^^ I love reading about your thoughts and they give me so much encouragement!
