"fakku!* it hurts!" Kari screamed, her eyes tightly shut

"wh-what's the password to the house?!" JB said urgently "it's in Japanese!"

"kazoku*" she said

"bwoh?" JB asked

"move over" Kari rolled her eyes, pressing the kanji. Mark quickly entered her house and placed Kari down on the living room couch "the first aid's in my room's bathroom. Top shelf in the mirror."

"I don't know where your room is" Mark said

"go up the ing stairs, it has a photo of me and my family planted on the door, go get it" Kari ordered and he bolted up the stairs "baka*"

"you have a big house noona..." Bambam said looking around

"not that big" Kari said "my family has a bigger one in Japan"

"your family's rich then?" Youngjae asked

"not rich...well off is what I say" she said, her cheeks a bit pink.

"you need ice" Jr said going into the kitchen "h-how do I-"

"repeat after me. koori*" Kari said. Jr repeated it with a bit of an accent, but the fridge gave him a cup of ice.

"wah!" Jackson shouted "that's cool!"

"eotteokhae" Yugyeom said as Jr put the bag of ice on her ankle, making Kari wince

"mian" Jr said

"noona, c-can I get some water?" Bambam asked

"what? oh yeah sure. Go to fridge and say akete*" Kari said

"what are we saying exactly?" Jr asked

"ice and open?" Kari said "most of the things around this house are Japanese-command-operated"

"that's cool" Yugyeom said and Bambam came back with a cup of water

"really cool" he agreed

"okay, I found it" Mark said coming down the stairs

"took you long enough" Kari said and he opened the box "please tell me you know how to treat a sprained ankle"

"I do, calm down" he said getting the disinfectant spray. Kari screamed when the spray came in contact with her ankle

"who's screaming?!" JJ shouted barging in with Suzy, Yerin, and Jimin

"Yerin-ah?" Yugyeom asked

"Yugyeom-ah" she gave a small wave

"I'm fixing her ankle" Mark said rummaging through the box to get the wrap

"you put the spray?" JJ asked going towards Kari "what about the gel?"

"what gel?" Mark asked. JJ rolled her eyes and picked up a cylindrical tube before squeezing some of the contents onto Kari's ankle, rubbing it around

"unnie unnie unnie! apo!" Kari complained

"bear with it, maknae" JJ said gently, patting her arm

"I'll put on the wrap" Mark said

"do a good job" JJ spat before standing up "give them some space. Yerin, Jimin, come talk with me and Suzy."

"deh" Jimin nodded

"Kari-ah, we'll be going into your room" Suzy informed and the girl nodded.

"what do we do.." JB said

"go to the basement" JJ said pointing to a door down the hall. Just like that, the only people left in the living room were Mark and Kari.

"ow!" she flinched when he accidentally moved her ankle

"sorry! oh my God, are you okay?!" Mark said worriedly

"be careful" she gritted her teeth

"says the one who twisted it" he grumbled

"that was not my fault" Kari crossed her arms

"true" Mark nodded and began to wrap it again, Kari eyeing his meticulous movements. "there, all done"

"you actually wrapped pretty well" Kari said sitting up, she stood on her uninjured foot

"yah, what are you doing?" Mark asked

"what does it look like I'm doing? I'm going to get the home phone" Kari said

"where is it? I'll get it for you" Mark said

"wae?" she said

"if you didn't know, your ankle is sorta, I don't know, sprained?" he said

"that doesn't mean I can't do things on my own" Kari said "it's a little sprain, it's not going to kill me"

"yah-"

"kamaniseo" Kari snapped putting light pressure on her left - aka injured - ankle. "see, I'm fine-oof!"

"oh!" Mark's eyes widened his reflects quickly catching her from going on the floor "pabo, I told you that I'd get it"

"put me down" Kari muttered and he led her to the couch again

"where's the phone?" Mark asked crossing his arms

"under the tv" she said quietly pointing in front of her. He nodded and got the home phone, giving it to Kari who dialed an international number, putting it on speaker "moshi moshi*, mama?"

"musume!* it's been a while" a woman said 

"hai* mama" Kari said "I miss you, papa too, and the twins"

"we miss you too Akari. How is Korea? and volleyball?" mama asked

"Korea's great mama, I have really good friends here, don't worry about me. Volleyball's going good too, preliminaries are next week" Kari said playing with her hands

"sounds exciting, are they being broadcasted? The whole family will watch, definitely" mama said

"I don't think so mama, I'll do well though! You know I will" Kari said

"your papa and I feel proud being your parents" mama said

"mama-"

"you're really a gem Akari, Asia's best libero" mama said "who would have thought that the little girl always playing in the restaurants would become an athlete like this"

"mama, what's with all the sentimentals" Kari said "mama, are you crying?"

"iie, of course not. Your mama's too strong for that" she said

"yeah right mama. You cried after making the perfect spice for tempura" Kari laughed "mama...I miss you, I really want to come home"

"I miss you too musume." mama said gently "you're always welcome back in our house"

"is it really okay if I come back for two weeks?" Kari asked

"of course, Noya misses you a lot too. He liked you the most out of the kids" mama said

"Noya's the deal breaker mama, spring break is the 2 weeks after preliminaries. I'll come home to Japan" Kari beamed

"oh I can't wait to see how much you've grown Akari. I'll speak to your papa and the kids later" mama said, excitement apparent in her voice

"I'll talk to you later mama, aieru wa*" Kari said hanging up

"you seem happy and sad at the same time, who was it?" Mark asked

"nae umma" Kari sighed reaching over to put the phone on the table "I miss her voice so much"

"I know how you feel" Mark said sitting down across from her "I miss my parents a lot and my siblings too...talking to them gives me such a bittersweet feeling"

"yeah.." she said looking at him. For once, she remembered Mark, the foreigner, the one who she became friends with.

"ugh! I hate having to sit around all day!" Kari whined "I want to at least do some yoga"

"andwae" Suzy scolded "if you want that ankle to heal before preliminaries, then you have to let it rest and to ankle exercises everyday"

"deh umma" Kari said rolling her eyes

"oh, the boys are coming over today" Suzy said checking her phone

"ah wae!" JJ complained "I've been seeing way too much GOT7 for my liking"

"you're only annoyed with them because of Jackson" Suzy saud

"well yeah, he's an annoying . The rest of the boys are at least tolerable" JJ said

"I kinda like those two freshman girls" Kari said "they're fun"

"15&?" Suzy asked

"15 what?" JJ asked

"it's what they're called" Suzy said "Jirongie said that they're amazing singers"

"better than me?" JJ joked crossing her arms

"no one's better than you, unnie" Kari said

"Aigoo, that's my maknae right there" JJ laughed ruffling her hair "I'll go praying to the volleyball gods so that your ankle is better oh?"

"I'll pray too" Suzy said

"yeah, after you and your boyfriend are done banging" JJ scoffed

"yah!" Suzy shouted, her cheeks pink

"ding dong" Kari chuckled as the doorbell rang

"I still hate Jackson" JJ said

"feeling is still mutual" Jackson said coming in

"jagi" Jr beamed greeting Suzy with a kiss

"please, you still disgust me" JJ said

"at least there's one thing we agree on" Jackson muttered

"if you don't like it, screw you" Suzy said interlocking her arms with Jr's

"then I'm screwed" JJ said putting her hands up in defense

"aye" Jackson said and they high-fived

"ew, never do that again" JJ said

"agreed" Jackson nodded and they went separate ways, giving each other another glare.

"kids" Jr clicked his tongue

"noona noona, we hope it's okay that we invited Yerin and Jimin over" Bambam said

"sure" Kari shrugged

"how's your ankle?" Mark asked sitting next to her

"it's been 2 days" Kari said "it's annoying"

"annoying?" Mark scoffed

"I can't do anything" she whined "I want to at least do some yoga"

"andwae" Suzy reminded

"I know unnie, I know" Kari rolled her eyes

"we were gonna be here earlier, but Mark hyung had some business to take care of" JB said

"ed a girl?" Kari asked

"more like punched a girl" Youngjae laughed

"you punched a girl?" JJ raised her eyebrow "who?"

"Dani" he shrugged

"nice!" JJ cheered raising Mark's hand up to give him a high-five "did someone at least video tape it?"

"I did" Yugyeom said

"good job Gyeommie good job!" JJ screamed putting the maknae in a headlock before affectionately ruffling his hair "gimme gimme gimme"

"ow noona!" Yugyeom shouted

"she just called him Gyeommie" JB said

"she put me in a headlock" Yugyeom whined

"who are you and what have you done with Hwang Jiyeon" Jackson said

"aigoo, unnie's just really happy because Dani got hurt" Kari said

"not when Dani's a major " JJ shrugged

"yah, you need to elevate your ankle" Mark said getting a pillow "it should always be above heart level so that blood circulates to it"

"since when were you a doctor?" Kari scoffed

"just lie down maknae, Mark knows what he's talking about" Suzy said

"says me, now do what he says" Suzy said

"aigoo aigoo, you're just so happy now because we accept Jr as your boyfriend" Kari said

"wait, you accept me as Suzy's boyfriend?" Jr asked

"smooth" Mark scoffed

"aye, be comfortable with us. Call us unnies, especially that one" JJ said pointing to Jackson

"I know, he's annoying right" Jimin said

"you make my day" JJ smirked ushering them into the living room

"and where do you think you're going?" Jr raised his eyebrow

"to my room" Kari said struggling to stand up

"how did you manage yourself yesterday?" Youngjae asked

"unnie-deul came over" Kari said

"she's heavy" Suzy said

"I don't think so" Mark shrugged and stood up "let me help you"

"gwenchana, I'm fine-"

"just let him do it" JJ said "less work for us"

"your room, right?" Mark asked hooking his arm under her knees and carrying her up

"yah!" Kari shouted
