~part twelve~

The Wallflower

Going in through the school doors, I glanced to my right to see Jessica look around the hallways in amazement.

“Wow! This school looks even better in person than it does in the photos online.” She mumbled in slight awe.

The people who were in the room diverted their attention to her. Who wouldn’t, really? She was speaking in English, she was new, and she was attractive. Whispering started. “Who is she?” “I wonder if she can speak Korean.” “She’s hot.” I could hear them say in their mother tongue.

I turned to my left and said to Jaehee, “I need to head to Physics class. Your first one is still in half an hour, right?” she nodded and I continued, “Jaebum’s waiting for me there. Bring Jess to the principal’s office so she can talk to him and get her schedule.”

She nodded. She walked up to Jessica and said something I couldn’t hear. Jessica looked at me and waved, “Bye, Mark!”

I went to my respective classroom and wasn’t surprised to see both Jinyoung and Jaebum there. They were the smart and punctual ones in the group, whereas me and the other 4 liked to take our time.

“You’re early. That’s quite a surprise.” Jinyoung said, looking up from the book he was reading.

“Yeah. I told him to be early. I was gonna ask him something.” Jaebum explained.

“What is it, then?” I asked.

“Did you have anything to do with Lee Jaehee’s new look? Because I saw her on Saturday, at the nightly Hongik performance… I actually didn’t think it was her, until the people thanked her and mentioned her name after she performed her song. I noticed that it made her look like that girl you liked… Jessie, was it? So you might have had her do something. She was your friend, after all.”

“No. Not really.” I lied. It doesn’t matter, anyway.

This caught Jinyoung’s attention, “Really? She got a makeover? Do you think it could have been what I said last week? Man, I hope she didn’t do anything too rash.”

“Nah. She actually looks really good with her new look. It wasn’t too rash, either. It was just that she changed her hair. I don’t know, Jinyoungie, I would honestly date her if she confessed to me. I think she’s more of your type now, as well.” Jaebum said.

“Well, you never know. Maybe.” Jinyoung went back to his book.

Lunch rolled around, and that was when I realized that I forgot to tell the guys that Jaehee and Jess were sitting with us. They didn’t even know that she was here.”

We were sitting at the table. They weren’t here yet. Thank God. “Hey, guys. I forgot to tell you. I invited 2 girls to sit at our table today.”

“Mwo?! What? Do you finally like someone?! Wahhhh!!!Who is it,then?” Jackson said loudly.

“Well, it’s the girl I used to really like. Jessica. And well, she actually made friends with Jaehee, so they’re both sitting here. Jess doesn’t speak Korean, so please be nice to her.” I requested.

“Of course, Mark. We support your little crush. But wait. Jaehee? Why’d you do that? That was stupid!” Yugyeom exclaimed.

“She didn’t want to sit here alone, and Jaehee is her only other friend.” I explained.

“Why is it that she doesn’t wanna sit with us alone? We aren’t offenders or anything.” Bambam said.

“Well, now that I think about it, Jackson kind of looks like one.” He  continued, earning a whack on the head from Jackson.

“I do not!”

“Do too!”

That started the light argument between the two.

They went silent after a while and looked up to see what it was about. Jaehee and Jessica were standing next to our table with their food trays in their hands. I introduced them.

“This is Jessica, my friend, and Jaehee, who you guys probably know.” I said. I didn’t fail to notice the tint of rosy pink that stained Jaehee’s cheeks.

“Annyeong haseyo!” Jessica said, cheerfully.

“Annyeong.” Jaehee followed suit, but in a less elated way.

I scooted over and they took their seats next to me, with Jessica next to me and Jaehee, and Jaehee next to Jackson.

“Hello! I’m Youngjae! How are you?” Youngjae greeted in his bad English.

“Quite alright, really. I have Jaehee here to guide me, so I have nothing to be sad about. What about you?” Jessica giggled at Youngjae’s confused expression.

“Excuse me? I don’t understand.” He replied.

I quickly translated what she said. He smiled and asked me to say sorry and say that he’s doing well, too. I did.

“Hey there, girls.” Jackson spoke up in English. “I’m Jackson Wang, and I’m wild and y, if you didn’t notice.”

“Nice too meet you!” Jessica said, and Jaehee nodded.

“I am Jaebum. I speak no English, okay?” Hyung said.

Jess laughed, “I kind of noticed.”

“Hi I’m Bambam! I’m the cutest one right?” Bambam said with his Thai accent.

“Hello. I’m Yugyeom, the maknae.” He said.

“Haaiii, I’m Jeenyoung!” Jinyoung said, exaggeratedly. I have to admit, Jinyoung was pretty much perfect to someone who lived in Korea, but once you put him in another country, he would be as good as dead. He may be smart, but he didn’t speak other languages well. It was probably his Achilles heel.

Jessica’s eyes widened. “Oh my gosh! Jaehee, is this the guy who rejected you?!”

Jaehee nodded. The other boys, excluding Bambam and Jackson, looked perplexed.

“Okay, then. I don’t know what you see in this guy! He doesn’t look that great. I’ve seen better. Why would you choose him over someone else?!”

“I don’t know really. I guess since to me, he seems like such a great person. He’s probably the most sought after guy in school, but I fell for him, and nothing can change that now.” Jaehee responded.

It looks like the boys were shocked that she spoke up as well, despite not knowing the context of what she just said. They finally paid attention to her.

“Neh. Jaehee! We completely ignored you! You look different from last week!” Jaebum said.

“Ah. Yeah. It’s just my hair.” She said, shyly.

“We heard you confessed to Jinyoungie here. We’re sorry. He’s just really picky.” Youngjae patted Jinyoung’s shoulder. I noticed it. Jinyoung was looking at Jaehee, his cheeks turning slightly rosy. I guess it worked! But, I can’t be too sure.

“It’s okay, really. I’m over it.” Jaehee curled a loose lock of hair behind her ear.

“Doesn’t she look even cuter now, hyung? Tell her how nice she looks!” Yugyeom turned to Jinyoung.

“You look nice, Jaehee.” He said, looking away. That was the first time I saw him flustered. It was a bit weird really.

“Thanks,” her blush intensified, if that was even possible.

Lunch went on like that, with me and Jinyoung just sitting there, the other 5 trying to initiate casual conversations with the two girls. I was too deep in my thoughts. I don’t think that Jinyoung fell for her that fast, right? Is that even possible? Unless, something was up.

A/N: It's up! I think this chapter was a bit weird, don't you? I hope it was just me, though. Have any of you seen I GOT7 Episode 2? Mark was just too cute! Well, I'll update tomorrow, lovelies!
