Wish #18

Make a Wish, Rich B*tch

 Chapter 18

❝I wish to be always be on top of my game.❞

Luhan

[BHH; Locker Room; Half Time]

Silence.

As much as I loved silence, peace, and serenity...this was a different type of silence. For humans, they say it was a type of silence that made your heart beat like no other. A type of tension in the air that could be cut with a knife the humans say. The first half of that game, under Jackson's control, went as I expected...

We're down by 10 points a.k.a. LOSING.

I turn my head looking at all the fallen expressions around the room; I copy their faces, putting the same expression on my own. I know I shouldn't feel happy about this, but I was...Considering how the next half I would be the one to take over. I knew right off the bat that our team would win. Plus, I would most definitely beat Jackson out for captain.

"Well, well, well men--excuse me--ladies" Coach Sanders exclaimed as he stepped out of the shadows in the middle of the circle. "Anyone care to explain to me why we are down 10 points??" He turned around to face each and every one of his players. "Anyone?!"

Silence. I peered at Jackson who kept his eyes trained down on his shoes. For a second I felt sorry for him; the burden he must feel upon his shoulders...Him being ex-captain and all, he must have wanted to show how good of a captain he was. I saw him quickly lift his head up and caught my eyes staring at him. He curled his lip a bit to reveal his teeth as if he was silently growling at me. Did I say I felt sorry for him? I take that back.

"Luhan." I looked up in response to the Coach. "You're next in charge for the 2nd half..." The Coach stepped aside from the center. "You have the floor to say what you need to say. Get these ladies whipped into shape."

I stood up and walked over to the center of the circle. All eyes were on me; all those desperate, pitiful human eyes...my eyes crossed Jay's path and he looked the most depressed of them all. He had practiced so much, yet the Coach hadn't put him on the court. He had been sitting on the bench for half the game cheering with all his might, but I knew deep down inside he wanted to play in the game whether we lose or win.

Just so he could make his sister happy.

"All right team!! Listen up!!" I clapped my hands instantly waking up the faces of my teammates. "Now, I know you expect me to give you some speech on how we practice our asses off for this one game and deserve to win this game... But, you know what..." I clapped my hand together once. "I won't say that...you know why??" I pointed outside to the door. "Cause I bet you that the team captain on the other side is saying the same exact thing."

The teammates started to look at each other with confusion. The Coaches looked at me like I was crazy, the team was looking at me like I was high, but Jackson was just giving me a grin. He must have thought that the obvious vote for team captain would be himself from where this speech was going. To be honest, I actually was tripping up on what to say in this speech... I clapped my hands three times, then snapped my fingers once. In less than 5 seconds I had stopped time.

I started to pace around thinking of where this speech was actually going. I've watched many sports movies, those had many pep talks! Why weren't any of those coming into my head right now?! I ran my fingers through my hear trying to relieve a little stress. No, I have to be original; think outside the box is what the humans say. What is something unexpected, but worthwhile that humans do to stay motivated? I looked around the room at all the paused faces in time. All the faces were still the same in expression except for one person...Jay: he was putting up a bit of a smile. And that's when it hit me:

Humans were motivated to have fun.

Krystal

[BHH Gym; Bleachers]

"Urgh, is the game over yet??" Annie sighed as she blew a bubble from the gum in while rolling her eyes. "I should be home 'Keeping Up with the Kardashians'! Like helloooo, I am 3 episodes behind and--"

"Shhhhhhhh" Jesy put a hand over Annie's mouth keeping her from talking. "Look! Look Krystal!" She showed me her cell phone on the camera function. Using her fingers she tapped the screen making it zoom in as if they were binoculars set on this one particular guy. "The hot guy is on the move!!"

I watched the screen as this boy Jesy had been obsessed with, since we got to the game, moved around the bleachers. He was on the other side of the gym meaning he was naturally a part of the opposing team, which also meant I had no interest in him what so ever. I mean, why would I try and hook up with someone from the enemy?

I mean I may be a catch myself, but please I know my boundaries.

"Jesy, get over him." I grabbed her phone shutting off the screen. "He's from the opposing team."

"So what?!" Jesy grabbed the cell phone from my hands. "He's not the one playing on the court. He has nothing to do with our team losing you know." A few students heads turned around us at the statement Jesy had just said. Jesy gave a nervous smile and waved our mini-school flag. "Go Bulldogs! Go!" Their heads turned back around and she gave a sigh of relief.

"You know that fan support is just as important as the skill on the team itself!" I adjusted the crop top school team t-shirt I had paired with my high waisted shorts and black Nike high tops. "That's why they call playing on our own turf a 'home field advantage'."

Jesy waved her hand back and forth. "Well, somebody was wrong cause the scoreboard shows otherwise." The same set of heads turned around giving Jesy once again the stank eye look. I shook my head; sometimes didn't know when to shut up.

I mean sure our team was down by ten points, but there was a chance of coming back! We still had the second half of this game, so it could still be anybody's game by then. Besides that, if they had just put Jay on the court, even just for 5 minutes, I bet you he would turn the score around. Instead, I mostly saw returning members on the floor, such as Jackson, and only one new edition to the lot.

Must I mention his name?

Not only was he playing well, but before every shot he took in the basket he looked at me. When he looked at me he would keep his eyes connected to mine as he shot the ball, and obviously making it into the hoop considering he can make whatever he wants happen for himself. The perfect motherer could make me swoon from the stands as he shot a blind sided 3 pointer. Damn it, that should NOT be right!! It should be ing illegal! Especially with him gleaming in a sheen of sweat, his hair damp, and his lips out of exhaustion every once in a while.

Urgh...Stupid Genie Boy.

"Krystal!" I felt a pair of hands wrap around my wrist with a slight shake. "T-the guy from the other team...H-He's on this side of the bleachers." I turned to where Jesy was pointing at and sure enough, the enemy was casually walking closer and closer to where we were sitting. His strides looked confident as his charming grin and eye smile captivated every girl in the audience. If you stared long enough, you could almost imagine a future with him. He was perfect.

Too perfect....

"Can you...excuse me a minute..." I stood up keeping my eye on the guy. "I-I think I--"

"You know that guy?!" Jesy's eyes lit up as she grabbed my arm.

"Uhm, yes, I think so?" I pulled my arm away quickly making my get away. "I think I remember him from some business party I attended with my dad...But, I'll just have to check..."

"Put in a good word for me okay??" Jesy asked as she put her hands together. "Pleaseeee??"

I nodded my head without looking back; only looking forward to see this boy disappear from the crowd. ! I lost him! I jumped from the last step and literally hit the floor running. I found my feet carrying me to the empty school hallway and there he was. The boy was drinking water out of the nearest water fountain about to leave when he spotted me.

"Oh hello there!" The boy said with a cheerful smile waving at me. He pointed at me giving me a sincere smile. "You must be...well, is it all right to disclose such information here in such a public place?"

"Krystal. Luhan's master. Yes", I finished for him cutting the chase. "And since you know that, you must be a genie yourself."

"Suho." He stuck his hand out in the most polite manner bowing his head. "My master is actually the Head Captain of the team your school is going against."

"Ohhh so you're here on duty" I nodded my head understanding why he was here. "Apparently this matters in the genie world you come from...so, uhm, how long have you been serving your master for?"

Suho tapped his finger on his chin counting his fingers. "Hmmmm...A little bit over 2 weeks I guess you can say. He has 1 more wish to make, and I have a feeling it may happen soon so I won't be here much longer." He pointed at me. "You must be the feisty master that Kyungsoo has told us about that our great Luhan has pulling his strings."

"Kyung-do-do talked about me??" I asked pointing to myself. My mind backtracked to the previous words he had said. Did he just say that I was pulling Luhan's strings? What strings? His heart strings?? HA. How hilarious. If anything it was the opposite effect; Luhan was pulling on MY heart strings.

Suho laughed. "I think you mean Kyung-SOO,and yes. He talked of you and Luhan's somewhat master and genie relationship."

"'Somewhat master and genie relationship'?" I repeated his words questioning his word choice. "What's that supposed to mean?"

"Apparently it seems as if Luhan has taken a--"

"KRYSTAL! OH MY GOD KRYSTAL I HAVE BEEN LOOKING ALL OVER FOR YOU!!" I turned my head and noticed Jesy at the end of the hallway looking all innocent and worried. Yeah right she was just looking for me...She was probably making sure that I hadn't run off and stolen her man or something. Jesy slowly walked over to us giving me a playful slap on the shoulder. "Krystal! Darling! I have been looking all over for you since the game started back up again and...oh! Why hello there stranger!" Jesy gazed her eyes over to Suho. "Well, who do we have here?"

I couldn't help but smile. "Jesy. Suho." I pointed from Jesy to Suho. "Suho. Jesy." I pointed from Suho to Jesy, and they exchanged greetings. I felt Jesy gave me an unsubtle nudge to my side, signaling that she wanted some alone time with him. Honestly I didn't want to leave the two alone because the conversation Suho and I were having was just about to get interesting. Jesy was one of my best friends though, so I guess one interruption to an important conversation could just slide. I wouldn't want myself getting away with one of my best friend's man. I'll just catch up with Suho after the game.

"Well, I guess I'll be going now..." I started to slowly take obvious steps backwards signaling I was to leave the two alone. Suho looked between Jesy and I then back at me. He looked....terrified.

"Oh, well, the game started correct??" He asked in a nervous way pointing at the direction of the gym. "I should get back too!" Suho turned to me. "We must talk again soon, yes?" Out of the blue, Suho whipped out a business card from his blazer handing it to me. I took it from him in a cautious manner knowing Jesy must be throwing daggers with her eyes at me right now.

"Yes for business matters, of course" I gritted through my smile. I gave him a firm, friendly handshake showing Jesy that this was all for business. "Please, do enjoy the game."

Suho nodded and bid a polite goodbye to Jesy. I could see a scowl appear on her face right after Genie Boy #3 turned around, leaving me to fend for myself....Oh dear lord give me strength.

Luhan

I looked up at the clock. 10 minutes to go until the end of this game and we had made it to the tying point of the game. Was I up for going into over time? Hell no. I was already on a tight schedule with getting wishes from Krystal, why should I have to suffer with extra time being added on? I clapped my hands patting my passing teammates backs.

"Having fun out there guys??" I shouted giving a loud woot. The guys gave me just as much enthusiasm making me smile. Oh, humans will fall for the stupidest of things, huh? I looked out at the crowd and saw Krystal reapplying her lip gloss.

Now if only I can get THAT human to fall for me to get my plan rolling in motion.

"Hyung! Hyung!" Jay came to sit beside me handing me a sports drink. "That speech about having fun and all that jazz was just...whaaa daebak!!" He put both of his thumbs up.

I smiled. "It's nothing really, but its true though." I put an arm around his shoulder. "Now, I think it's time you go out there and have fun too, huh??"

Jay gave me astonished look pointing at himself. "W-wait me??"

I messed with his hair. "Yes you!" I pushed him to stand up on his feet. "You'll be taking over my place, all right? You've worked too hard not to at least play a little bit in the game."

Jay stood there in silence with his jaw dropped. His senses came back up to him as I called the rest of the team over going over the game plan and announcing the player change. Majority of the team was okay with it, except for one certain Jackass-I mean-JackSON.

"What do you think you're doing??" Jackson asked as he stood beside me watching the boys run onto the floor to get into position. "Putting in a rookie the last crucial 10 minutes of this game??"

I kept my eyes trained on Jay as the tip off was made. He jumped straight for the ball, and with a little magic, I got the ball to naturally come onto our side. "Why not? The boy has been practicing hard. Besides..." I turned my head a bit, but not fully, acknowledging his presence but not his piercing eyes. "Last time I checked, I'm calling the shots this half. You had your chance the first half..." I turned my head back to the court whispering,

"And considering your performance, that may have been your last time calling the shots."

And for the next 8 minutes of the game, I was able to enjoy pure silence from Jackson.

The last 2 minutes and we were still at a tie with the other team. Jay had done a good job stealing the ball from the other team, and we now had the ball in our possession. Seeing him handle with such precision and speed, I couldn't help but think that he was actually as good Krystal hyped him up to be. Good as he was though, I knew that in his heart he had other plans for himself in the future. What those plans were? I had to find out myself...

Another element to add to my plan to get that 3rd wish.

I trained my eyes as the team captain from the other team tried to defend the hoop from Jay who had the ball at the moment. Jay tried to pass it to one of our own, but failed when a guard had blocked the pass. The guard with the pass roughly pushed Jay out of the way; a push that landed him in the opposing team side of the bleachers. Booing came from our side of the bleachers as Jay was being helped up by his teammates. The referee called a foul and with now a minute on the line, a free throw was called.

"GO JAY GO!!" I heard a familiar face shout among the bleachers. I turned my head watching Krystal clap and cheer with all her might. "GO! GO! GO!" Her eyes wandered over to me and her smile disappeared replaced by that sassy look of hers.

"You know, I could make it a sure shot if you wished for it" I transmitted into her head. I watched as I saw her tap her forehead with a finger then looked at me.

"ARE YOU SERIOUSLY IN MY HEAD RIGHT NOW?!" Krystal curled her lip at me showing her sharp pearly whites. "GET THE OUT OF MY HEAD YOU CREEP."

I shrugged and did as I was told by my master. A genie should always show that he was always in control of the situation. One must always convince the master, though they are given a much more powerful word, a genie is always the utmost powerful one. I needed to always remind myself this. Always. Especially with Krystal showing off that lip curl and sassy face of hers...control your senses Luhan. She is human.

You live above the humans.

Jay lined himself up for the shot. The crowd on both sides shouting in excitement. I could tell that Jay was nervous by the number of times he had dribbled the ball in front of him. Out of all the drills he did during and after practice, his free shots were always a hit or miss and never really consistent. I could tell that he was thinking too hard about the shot, and out of prediction I could also tell he was going to miss...Sure enough, Jay went for the shot and calculating with my eyes I knew it was short an inch or two. I pursed my lips a bit and blew out some air...air that would magically push the ball a little bit higher to get that magical swish from the hoop as soon as it shot in the basket. The buzzer went off signaling the win of Beverly Hills High. I smiled to see the joy on my teammates faces, the anger grow on Jackson, and the happiness spread on Krystal.

Genies were always on top. Always.
