Halloween was right around the corner and Hyuk had decided months prior that he was much too old to be trick-or-treating this year. Candy wasn’t his favorite food ever and as much as he wanted to cosplay as a Naruto character, he’d rather pass. He assumed that since the guys at the pub were adults, they would skip the childish antics of tricks and treats as well (later he would find out that he assumed very wrong).

So when Halloween came around, Hyuk went straight to work at six. To his surprise, there was a ‘closed’ sign hanging on the door. It wasn’t locked though, so the busboy confusedly walked in. Sure enough, the store was void of any customers.

Some of other employees were surrounding table one, talking and chattering amongst themselves. They noticed Hyuk’s presence and greeted him happily.

“Hey! He’s actually here!” Ken, who was wearing a familiar blue and red bodysuit, exclaimed and ushered him over.

“What’s going on?” The kid asked as he strode over to them. Hongbin and Ravi were sitting on one side of the booth, N on the other side, and Ken was sitting gargoyle-style on the table. Along with their usual bags, several white pillowcases lay on the table as well. “We’re not working today? Why is Ken-hyung Spiderman?”

A female donning a leopard-print skirt, pig tails, and high heels pulled him down to sit. “Of course we’re not working today! It’s Halloween, silly!”

“… Excuse me,” Hyuk interrupted the lass. “But who the heck are you?”

“It’s me, N!” The girl flaunted his stuffed s and fishnet stockings. “Or better yet, N Mi!” He then stood up and began dancing to chorus of 24 Hours.

The busboy fought the urge to vomit. “… Well, I’ve got to give it to you; that is pretty scary. So what was this about not working?”

“It’s our custom to go trick-or-treating every year.” Hongbin spoke, rubbing something off his glasses. He was wearing an all-black outfit consisting of a t-shirt and skinny jeans. “So we close the shop on Halloween and head out.”

“Aren’t you guys a bit too old to go trick-or-treating?”

Ken let out a gasp. “You’re never too old to go—“

“You’re never too old, I get it,” Hyuk replied sternly. “I just thought that you’d guys would rather make money at work than run around and get candy.”

“Well, might as well indulge in our childhood while we still have time,” the bartender sighed blissfully. “And N doesn’t have much time left.”

“Hey! I am not old!” The boss protested, whacking Hongbin with a pillowcase.

“Of course, Leo never comes with us,” N paused when the brunet spoke of their absent singer. “But you can come with if you want, Hyuk-ah.”

Hyuk made a face of abhor. “Uh, I’d rather not, thanks. I think I’ll just go home.”

“Hongbin said that wrong,” piped in Ravi. “You don’t have a choice. You’re coming with us.”

“Yeah! You’re coming with us, whether you like it or not!” As a blond chef let out a battle cry, N hugged Hyuk’s arm, making his moobs squish against him.

The busboy groaned wearily. “Look, even if I wanted to (which I really don’t), I don’t have a costume.”

“Problem solved,” declared Hongbin, who reached for his man purse to pull out the most mortifying thing in life.

Before he could react, a sparkly bright, decorated with pink feathers, plastic tiara was placed atop of Hyuk’s head.

“AWW!” The boss squealed loudly, shaking his arm. “You look so cute! Princess Hyukkie!”

“Please kill me.”

“No time for that kiddo!” Ken hopped off the table and tumbled onto his feet like a boss. “Grab a pillowcase because it’s time for candy hunting!” He let out another battle cry and sprinted out of the bar.

A mortified kid and the others followed suit with their own bags into the cool evening. It wasn’t yet too dark, making it the perfect time for a group of suspicious men and woman to stalk the streets. N led the pack, claiming to know which neighborhood houses held the best loot.

Princess Hyuk was attempting to shield himself from public eyes when he noticed something. “Hey, how come Ravi-hyung isn’t wearing a costume?” The man was dressed in nothing but his work uniform.

“Technically,” Ravi objected. “I am wearing one. I’m dressed as a janitor.”

Hyuk scoffed a bit and glanced at their bartender.  “And what are you supposed to be?”

“… Uh, blackmail,” Hongbin responded stiffly. “Or if you must, black m-a-l-e.”

The princess busboy let out a nervous laugh. Suddenly, tension rose between them, enough to make the janitor and Spiderman notice.

Ken lifted up his Spiderman mask and stared oddly at them. “Did something happen between you two?”

“N-No,” Hongbin denied and immediately changed the subject. “Hey, we’re at the first house.”

“Hurry up, slowpokes!” N shouted as he went up to the door. “The candy isn’t going to savage itself!” The group assembled themselves before the doorstep as N rang the doorbell. And when the door opened, they gave out an energetic and loud exclamation of ‘trick-or-treat!’

They repeated this process for the next thirty houses. Hyuk never found the heart to chime along with the others, for at every single house they were given very odd looks. He was bit ashamed to be mixed in with this bunch. It wasn’t surprising though; they were a group of suspicious men and woman stalking the streets. And it was often that Hyuk had overheard a little kid cry to his parents because they were scared, or heard an elderly woman contemplate on whether or not to call the cops on them.

It was a sign of relief when Hyuk felt a raindrop on his head.

“Aw, it’s about to rain!” N paused walking and turned. “Alright, follow me guys. We’re going to the last house for tonight.” They walked for a bit more before they stopped at the place.

“… But,” Hyuk heaved his heavy pillowcase with a grunt. “This is an apartment building.” They were standing outside one of the neighborhood condominiums, not too far from the pub itself.

“Thank you, captain obvious.” Ken sassed as he removed his mask and placed it in his bag.

“We’re not going to every unit, are we?” The princess stared up at all the floors in horror.

“Of course not, silly!” N pushed open the glass doors and ushered them into the lobby. “We’re just going to one. Hey, security guard-ssi!” He waved at the tough-looking guy behind the concierge desk.

The guard greeted back. “Hey, N. Back so soon?”

N laughed a bit. “I’ve got to give candy to the big guy too!” They entered the elevator and he pressed the button for the 11th floor.

“This isn’t your place, is it…?” Hyuk asked suspiciously.

“Nope!”

“Then how are you so friendly with security?”

Hongbin shushed him. “Just go with the flow.”

The busboy found the flow to be very unstable.

A short ride later, they reached the 11th floor and N happily led the way to unit 1110. He knocked loudly on the door and the group stood in silence before it opened.

There was a glimpse of a red-headed singer before it was attempted for the door to be slammed shut.

N had wedged his foot into the doorway before Leo had a chance to do so. “C’mon Taekkie! Don’t be like this when the gang’s over!”

Sympathy overwhelmed the others for their imposing on Leo. And yet, they couldn’t help but cheer when they were finally let in. As soon as Hyuk stepped into the apartment, he accidentally dropped his loot bag out of shock.

All he saw was pink. The walls were pink and the floor was decorated in pink rugs or mats. A majority of the furniture was not pink but was decorated with pink embellishments. Plush animals sat neatly in every corner of the flat, many of them being toy pigs. In the living room were the standard coffee table, TV and sofas, but looked like Tiffany Hwang had terrorized them. Hanging on the wall by the door was the pig sticker Hyuk gave away, neatly laminated.

“Man, I’m pooped!” Ken haphazardly tossed his candy bag somewhere and flopped onto a pink couch. “Hongbin-ah, did you bring your emergency supplies?”

“Yep,” the brunet sat on the floor and pulled out a six-pack of beer from his own bag. “Here you go, Wonshik.”

Ravi gratefully accepted the can and sat down too. “Awesome.” As Hongbin handed Ken a can, Leo suffered silently from the lack of coasters.

Hyuk was still going through pink syndrome when he remembered basic etiquette. “Sorry for intruding,” he felt like it was his responsibility to apologize for this pack of hoodlums. “We’ll clean up later.”

Leo shook his head. “It’s okay…” He noticed Hyuk’s princess getup and pulled out his phone to take a picture. “Cute,” he muttered to himself and waddled into the kitchen.

“Hey busboy,” Ravi raised his can of beer. “Want some?”

“Uh, no I can’t.”

“So we have three extras…” Hongbin thought aloud. “Taek’s not going to drink any either. You guys want to have seconds?” N was standing in the corner when he let out a cough.

"Nah, I've got to drive later." Ken joined the brunet on the floor and began scavenging through his candy bag. N coughed again, a little less subtle than last time.

"What about you, Wonshik?"

"No thanks, I'm not ready to get hammered." The boss coughed a third time and was still ignored.

“I guess I'll just drink them all then.”

“HONGBIN YOU !!!” N viciously attacked him, smothering Hongbin with his stuffed s as he tried to reach for a can. “GIVE ME ONE!”

“You can’t have any!” Hongbin struggled but tossed the extra cans to Ravi and Hyuk.

Like a hawk, N closed in on the innocent busboy. “Gimme!” He snarled and swiped at the can in Hyuk’s hands. The youngest blankly tossed the can back to Hongbin. Thus began their little game of idiot in the middle.

A good two minutes passed by with Hyuk and Hongbin tossing the can to each other while N tried hopelessly to catch it. Leo then waltzed back into the living room, eyes widening at the sight before him. “What the—”

“Taek-hyung! Heads up!” Hongbin pitched the can over to him, only to have it bounce off Leo’s head and roll away.

The room immediately fell into a tense silence. Leo was stoic; the employees gulped as they waited for him to explode.

After what seemed like an anxious forever, Leo spoke.

“… Hongbin,” he muttered, voice dark and angry.

The brunet flinched and awaited his death sentence. “Y-Yeah?”

Leo slowly raised his hands, which were holding a mug and tea bag respectively.

“… Make me tea.”
