Chanyeol accepted another glass of wine from the passing waiter. His gaze was fixed ahead, particularly at someone.

“Why don’t you talk to her?” asked Baekhyun, following his gaze. Chanyeol looked at him and shook his head silently. He drowned the rest of his glass and signaled the waiter for another while trying not to look in her direction.

“What’s with you and Chanyeol?” Bomi, one of Hyemi’s best friends wanted to know.

Hyemi sighed and traced the lip of her glass, “Nothing.”

“Nothing? He’s been staring at you since ages,” exclaimed Saemi, having noticed how Chanyeol had been looking at her best friend.

“Speaking about staring, even Baekhyun seems to be staring at you,” teased Yuri. Saemi pinked and looked at her husband who was indeed staring at her. “Yeah, well, he’s my husband. He has a right to stare at me!” mumbled Saemi defensively.

The girls giggled at Saemi’s embarrassment, making the girl pink even further. Hyemi forced herself to laugh along but she couldn’t quite manage it.

Seeing Chanyeol here at their high school reunion brought back all the memories. It had been five years since she last saw him and since then, he had quit his music career and took over his father’s shipping business.

She had been quite surprised when the press had reported that the rapper of EXO-K had not renewed his contract, but had instead joined the business world as the new CEO of Park International Shipping. She wondered about his decision for his music career had been the very source of their break-up five years ago.

Chanyeol had been so devoted to EXO and his career that he neglected her. The last straw had been when he had booked them a restaurant for her birthday and he never turned up. Hyemi had been humiliated when the staff of the restaurant requested her to leave because they were about to close. Chanyeol had apologized but he had also said that she was not supportive enough and that she was being a hindrance in his future plans. Hyemi had suggested a break-up, to which Chanyeol agreed after deeming it best.

To this day, Hyemi had never got over Chanyeol. She had suggested the break-up, true, but she had never thought he would agree to it. She had only wanted him to devote more time to her and their relationship.

Unbeknownst to her, Chanyeol never got over her, too. He had realized his true feelings over the years he had been apart from her. Ashamed by the way he had treated her during their relationship, he had not sought to contact her when he ended his contract with EXO four years ago.

The background music faded and a slow song started playing. Baekhyun abandoned Chanyeol’s side and went to ask Saemi to dance. One by one, all of Hyemi’s friends got asked to dance until only Hyemi was left alone.
