Hea Jung exhaled nervously as she opened the front door of her house with her set of keys. After school, her English teacher had called her to speak to her about the upcoming Essay Competition. The talk lasted only twenty minutes, but that caused her to miss her bus and she reached home more than one hour later than she usually would.

As she tried to sneak as quietly as possible to her room, a voice came from behind her, “Where were you?”

Hea Jung turned slowly on her heels to face her elder brother, Park Chanyeol.

A furious scowl was set on Chanyeol’s face, “Do you know how worried I was?! I have to work to earn enough money to put food on the table, to pay the bills at the end of the month, to afford sending you to school. Because of you today, I’m late to work! That means money will be deducted from my pay-check!” His voice rose almost to a shout.

Hea Jung flinched and tried, but failed miserably to retain her tears, “I’m sorry, Oppa. It won’t happen again. The t-tea-” She hiccupped because of her tears.

“Oh, stop with the waterworks!” Chanyeol snapped angrily. “I’m off to work.” He mumbled and picked up his jacket.

The slam of the door made Hea Jung jump. She lifelessly walked to her room and closed the door behind her. She sank to the floor and cried her heart out.
