What was the use of immortality if they could perish as mortals do?
What was the use of their abilities if they cannot stop these misfortunes?

...and that was how her occupation changed from Immortal Guardian to Immortal Caretaker, now stuck with nursing a zombified immortal who kept straying between the light and darkness. Her, an Immortal, was assigned by her Creator to babysit her friend. The exact friend who was immortal and died, then brought back to life in the form of a zombie.
It was one unfortunate event after another for her after the war against the underworld dwellors. Had she known the battle would curse her with bad luck, she would have pushed the leader-role to her elder. Of course, he would have said no but she should have at least tried.
“I'm sorry, I did this to you,” she whispered to her friend's rotting flesh. “
