Seyeon and her partner warmed up to each other quickly. 

"You look stunning." He complimented.

"You too," Seyeon smiled.

"Alrighttttt, I trust that we've found our partners? It's time to announce our prom king and queen!" The MC said. 

"From Mallory High...." 

"This girl has ceased 99% of all votes...." 

"May I present to you...."

Seyeon blinked. She'd forgotten about that. She hadn't intended to come for prom, so she didn't even bother voting. In any case, the Queen were predictable. She'd be the most popular, most beautiful, and would obviously be...

"..Bethany Tang!" The MC announced. 

Bethany removed her mask and strutted on stage. The boys oogled at her. 

She beamed and striked a pose. 

"I'd nominate you if I were allowed the vote." Seyeon's partner gazed at her. 

Seyeon blushed. 

"The number we got was really special." He commented. 

"Next up, we have the prom king of Kingston High!" 

"Did you know, 1004 sounds similar to a word in Korean?" He explained. 

"This gentleman was chosen for his examplary behaviour and leadership skills...." 

"Along with his prowess in sports..." 

"And that word is..."

"May I present to you....Joshua Kim!" 

The students cheered. The head prefect was clearly well liked by his peers. 

Seyeon's partner looked flustered, he turned to look back at the stage. 

"Angel." Seyeon completed his sentence. 

He was pleasantly surprised. 

"How did you know?" 

Seyeom chucked. 

"I'm Korean." 

"Really?" 

"Josh! What are you doing? Get up on stage!" 

He turned to the direction of the voice. 

"I'm sorry, I have to go..." 

He removed his mask. 

Seyeon was shocked. Josh Kim. Her partner was Josh Kim.

He smiled and looked at Seyeon one more time before going up stage. 

The emcee placed crowns on Bethany and Josh's heads.

"I'd like to thank my friends and school for voting for me! Thank you! I love you!" Bethany blew a flying kiss towards the crowd. 

"...thank you. This was unexpected." Josh spoke awkwardly.

"There you have it! Our King and Queen." 

Bethany looked really excited. She beamed and posed for the cameras. Josh stood by her and gave a crooked smile. 

"And now, may our King and Queen lead us in the couple dances. You may choose your partners." 

Bethany smiled. Her ideal partner was right there, next to her. 

She reached out to grab Josh's arm, but Josh moved forward to reach the microphone. 

He smiled foolishly. He spoke in Korean, 

"My only partner, my 1004, my angel. Come up." 

The students were chatting among themselves. What did Josh say? 

Seyeon stood still.

Just then, Josh spotted Seyeon in the crowd. He got off stage and walked straight to her. 

He offered a hand.

He gazed into her eyes, through the masquerade mask.

"May I?"

Seyeon placed her hand gently onto his and followed him upstage. 

Just then, the DJ switched the music to a slow song. 

"Do you dance?" Josh asked.

"I haven't tried...." Seyeon responded shyly. 

"Don't worry. Just follow me." He reassured her.

And with every step, Josh guided Seyeon, and soon she caught hold of the rhythm, and she was doing a pretty darn good job waltzing. 

The rest of the students followed soon after. Bethany stood at the side, appalled. Her Prom Queen glory was gone. 

The dance came to an end. 

The crowd cheered for Josh and his partner. 

"Remove your mask!" The crowd shouted.

Josh smiled and looked at Seyeon.

Seyeon hesitated. 

"May I know your name?" He asked. 

Seyeon's rate increased.

"Oh Seyeon. No, Aelyn Ho. No, Oh Seyeon. Then again, they can't find out I'm Seyeon." Seyeon thought. 

She took a step back. 

The chanting got louder.

"Mask. Mask. Mask. Mask. Mask." 

Her heart palpitated. 

She couldn't bring herself to reveal her identity to the crowd. 

"I'm sorry. I can't." she said exasperatedly.

She looked at Josh straight in the eye one last time and dashed out of the ballroom.
