He Can't be Human!

Sara's POV

My head is hurting....

I massage my temples, trying to focus on my English homework.

Translate the following sentences into Korean:

Ten dogs jump in a row.

Hi, my name is Kim!

What time is it?

I walk to school.

It is half past three.

The words all blur together on the page. My head is pounding. Every two minutes, it seems like my phone is going off with a text. If it's not from Tao or his friends asking me if I'm alright, it's someone from the cafaeteria, asking me if I'm alright! Except for the Ingi. The Ingi have yet to text me. I'm not sure if I should be grateful or concerned.

Another text, this time from Tao.

Sara, come on, talk to me!!

I haven't seen Tao since two days ago when the whiteout stopped, and we could leave the buildings. I was going to ride home with Sang-Ki, just so I wouldn't have to go searching for Tao. But Tao went searching for me.

"Hey, Sara!" Tao called, pushing his way through the crowd. He stopped when he saw me. Sang-Ki had given me his coat, which I was wearing. I was walking side by side with him. Tao walked forward again, and tried to grab onto my arm, but Sang-Ki pulled me closer to him by my other arm.

"Sara, come on." Tao said, grabbing my arm anyway, and pulling me back to him. I turned and looked him straight in the face. His eyes went to my nose. "What happened? Is this from when Eun-Mi hit you?"

"What do you care?" Sang-Ki snapped at him just as I was about to respond, yanking me closer to him again.

"I care because she's my friend!" Tao growled, jerking me back to his side and out of Sang-Ki's grasp. He guided me a little ways away from Sang-Ki, and turned me to face him. "Are you ok? Suho is sorry for what he said!" I sighed a little, and gentlly removed his hand from my arm. I shook my head.

"I don't know." I said to him, spinning on my heel and walking back to Sang-Ki. "Take me home." He smiled at me, and lead me to his car.

The next two days were off from school because of the snow, and I know my luck with the snow isn't going to last, so I'm trying to get my homework done and out of the way. But that's going to be difficult if people won't shut up and stop texting me!!!

My phone goes off again with another ding. I grab my phone, and press the power button, breathing heavy. The screen goes black, and I sigh, scolding myself for loosing control like that. This is really unlike me! I think. I haven't been acting like me since.... Since I hit my head! God, I've been such a to my friends! I turn my phone back on, and respond to Tao.

Tao, I'm sorry. I know I haven't been acting like a very good friend lately. I'm sorry, and I have no excuse, other than, I'm confused.

Then I respond to everyone else who's texted me, and tell them all the same thing.

Hi, I'm sorry I haven't been responding, I'm doing my homework. I'm alright though, so you don't need to worry.

I turn my phone off again, and settle down to do my homework. I find it much easier to do my homework now, and translate the sentences in no time flat. I move to science, and breeze right through that too. Math and Astronomy follow in a similar fashion. The teachers hadn't said it was hard homework, and it wasn't. Either my headache or my guilt were just keeping me from focusing.

I was just about to start history, when the lights went out. Great. Just great. There is a loud groan coming from Young-woon's room. I'm just about to turn on my phone, and do my homework by that, but my father suddenly calls throughout the house.

"Nobody go near any power outlet, nobody flick a switch, nobody do anything with electricity, okay? Take a break from your homework, Sara! Young-Woon, I'm sorry you lost your game! Dae-Ho, take this as an excuse to stop eating, okay? I want to keep that fridge cool, so don't you dare open it unless I say so! Jae-Jae's with his mom, so he should be good..." With that, Daddy is quiet, and I hear him dialling the phone to report our loss of power.

I turn on my phone to see, a.) if I got any more texts, and b.) to tell people, HEY, OUR POWERS OUT!! I have three texts from Tao.

Hey, it's ok! You still want to be friends, right?

Sara?

Suho really is sorry!

I laugh a little when I read his texts. I respond,

Sorry, I turned my phone off because it seems like every bleeping person on the face of the earth was texting me. Yes I still wanna be friends. And I don't care about what Suho said, honest.

Tao replies almost instantly.

Good! I'm glad! Why's everyone texting you?

Not a clue. I was trying to do my homework, so it was getting annoying. But now that my power's out, I'm taking a break.

You know school's, more likely than not, going to start up again tomorrow? You need to get that homework done!

There's no light!

Then come over to my place! All the guys are here, and the power's not out!
pwease? Pwetty pwetty pwease with a cherrwy on top?

I laugh at your pathetic attempt at a cute voice over text! HAHAHA!!
Fine, I'll ask my dad!

Tao responds in a few seconds with a voice clip of the guys cheering. I laugh again, and put my phone in my lounge pants pocket. I walk down the stairs, blinking at the dim light. Being the only female in the house at the moment, it is my responsibility to light the candles. Not because I'm a woman, but because the males in my house simply can't be trusted with a lighter. Jae-Jae because he's too young, Dae-Ho because he's just plain stupid and has no common sense sometimes, Young-Woon because of his fascination with fire, and Daddy because he simply doesn't trust himself to be able to hold and use the lighter properly because of his arthritis.

I walk into the kitchen, feeling around the junk drawer of the island for the lighter and the candles. I light a few, and place them around the kitchen. Then another few, and put one in each of the three bathrooms. Then, I spread the rest of the candles around the house after I've lit them.

I put the most candles in Daddy's study, which is a dark room to begin with, but without any power, it's coal-black. As I place the candles carefully around Daddy's study, I ask him my question.

"Daddy?"

"Yes?" My father's eyes don't leave his phone. I can see him now, kinda, thanks to the candles.

"Can I go over to Tao's and do my homework there?" Daddy looks at me with raised eyebrows.

"Sweetie, it's freezing cold out there! The roads are in terrible condition, and I don't want you getting lost!"

"Daddy, Tao can drive, he could pick me up! As for the roads, we've had worse. And when have I ever gotten lost?!" Daddy doesn't look convinced, so I pull out my Bambi eyes, which I happen to be very good at. I put my hands together like I'm praying, and look at him sincerly.

"Pwease, Daddy?" I ask in a cute little kids voice. It probably won't work since I doubt that Daddy can really see my Bambi eyes in this light, but I'm pinning my hopes on the voice. Daddy sighs, and raises his hands in defeat. "Yay!! I love you Daddy!"

"Yeah, yeah, you love me, I know. I want you home by eight, or as soon as Tao's power goes out." Daddy rolls his eyes, going back to his work. I give him a hug and a kiss on the cheek, before skipping away up to my room to change into something somewhat presentable.

I text Tao before I start changing.

Hey, Dad says yes, but you need to pick me up and I need to change.

Another voice clip response of cheers.

I change into this, and go to text Tao that I'm ready, but someone rings the doorbell. Do I even need to say who it was? Tao.

I grab my school stuff, and bound down the steps like a happy bunny.

"Hey!" I say.

"Let's go!" Tao says, smiling at me. He's wearing sunglasses, a black leather jacket, jeans,  and a dark blue shirt. He almost looks Ingi... He leads me out to his car, and holds the door open for me like a gentleman. We talk the entire way to his place. It felt nice, normal. I like this.

I'm not sure where the rest of you live, but here? It is bleeping free-zing!
Anyway, me is sorry I took a while. I just drove about twenty hours in a car, because we had to avoid D.C. and NYC, and we got lost in Philly! Either way, me is tired. Hope you like! Comment if you want you, you know, just so I feel better and like I'm not only writing this for two people.
