He Can't be Human!

I sit down at my normal spot on the bus, shivering. Once again, everyone is on their phones. I follow suit, and start up Temple Run. The bus is moving at a snails pace. Probably because of the ice slick that came down last night.

"Hello." a quiet voice says from the aisle. I look up, pressing the home button, feeling almost guilty for some reason. Jeeezus CHRIST, this guy's tall! His eyes are blueish, so he's either wearing contacts, or he's half something or other. He's wearing all black. Black leather jacket, black skull T, black eyeliner, black leather pants, black combat boots, and black fingerless gloves. He smiles at me, his eyes twinkling. I can't help but stare, and thankfully, I can keep my jaw from dropping.

"Hi!" I finally say, shaking my head. "Are you new?"

"No, I just normally sit in the back." he responds. Uh oh uh oh uh oh. He sits in the back. That means:

1.) He's popular

2.) Specifically, he's an Ingi Geom-Eun Os (Popular Black Clothes), or just an Ingi for short. They's bad news.

3.) If he's talking to me, I better start watching my back.

I smile at him, though, and say, "Oh? And to what do I owe the pleasure?" I didn't mean to sound like that, but I'm actually not that friendly to anyone Ingi, or Ingi Yeui (Popular Polite(goody two-shoes)).

"Well, uh, I - " he starts, but the bus jolts to a stop, and the guy, since he's not sitting down, goes flying back to the rear of the bus as Tao climbs on to the bus. I bite my lip to keep from bursting into howls of laughter.

"Who was that?" Tao asks as he sits down next to me.

"Don't know, but he was Ingi!" I reply with a shrug and a smile.

"Ooh hoo hoo! What did you do?! Ingi don't talk to freshmen!"

"Yeah, they don't! I wonder what he wanted?"

"Well, I will tell you what I think it is!" Kai says quietly as he sits down next to us, squeezing the two of us closer together. Kai and Tao must've gotten on together. "That Ingi wanted nothing more than to get in your pants." I look at him, eyebrows raised, mouth open to respond, but I close it when I realize I have nothing to say.

"Sara, you're very beautiful - no, I think the word that fits is, to quote D.O., hot. Guys are going to start paying attention to you a lot more than in middle school. And a lot of them are just going to want ." Tao adds, looking at me. I just look at him. Then I look at the Ingi, who had climbed back to the font of the bus.

"Can I talk to you?" He asks, polite. Tao and Kris narrow their eyes at him, but look at me, asking if I want to talk to this Ingi. I shrug. Ingi smiles, and motions for me to follow him. Tao stands up though, blocking me from moving.

"You can talk to her." Tao gives the Ingi a warning glare. "But you talk to her here, where we can see you." And hear you. I add the rest of the sentence in my head. The Ingi just smiles.

"I guess I'll see you later then, Sara?" He asks, completely ignoring the I-will-cut-you-in-your-sleep stares that Tao and Kai are giving him. I just nod, averting my eyes. "'K! Bye!" Ingi waves, and strolls back to his little kingdom in the back of the bus, with the Ingi Babi Inhyeong (Popular Barbie Dolls).

By now, we're only a few short minutes away from the school. Tao and Kai's fingers are flying across their phone screens, texting. So I spend the rest of the ride alone. Thinking.

Just before the bus pulled into the school parking lot, Tao and Kai looked up, and saw my face. I didn't respond to them. I don't know why. I just didn't.

When we got to school, and it was time to say goodbye, I just waved silently at them. The first part of my day, from English all the way to the end of Algebra, was a bleak blur. I couldn't really care less about what was going on. I tripped several times.

But by the time Creative Writing rolled around, I was feeling much better, though my balance still left a lot to be desired.

I walked into the classroom, and smiled wide when I saw my friends. Tao and Kai looked at me funny, but when they saw me smiling, they joined the rest of their friends in giving me a group hug.

"Hey hey hey, hug your oppa Lay!" Lay greeted me after my friends let me breathe. I giggle, and give him a tight squeeze. "What? I don't get a kiss on the cheek like Tao?"

"Tao never got a kiss on the cheek." I say seriously. "He got a token of my appreciation." The gang burst out into laughter. We take our seats, and the guys and I settle into easy chatter. I sit alone, because not a single blessed one of the boys can seem to focus when they sit next to me.

I think back to what Tao said on the bus. I'm hot? Does that mean Tao and Kai and D.O. and Chen and the rest of my friends think I'm hot? Is that why they can't focus if they sit next to me?

Suddenly I'm hit in the head with a crumpled up peice of paper. I jump in my seat, and turn to look at who threw the paper. Sehun, Suho, Kai, and Kris are all looking around, whistling, not meeting my eyes. I roll my eyes, and look back around at the front of the room, waiting for the teacher to come in. I'm hit in the head again. I face the foursome, staring at them with raised eyebrows. Now they're looking back at me with innocent angle faces, and I-didn't-do-it-I-swear puppy eyes.

Then, Suho can't hold in his guilt anymore, and smiles cheekily, laughing. I laugh a little bit, and lean back in my seat to give him a flick on the temple.

"So, Sara?" Sehun asks, "You and an Ingi, huh? You been doing stuff you shouldn't?" The group laughs, and though I know Sehun's only teasing, I feel like there's a warning in there that I should be getting.

"What?! Sara, the only Yeui we can even stand to be around, doing the dirty?! You crazy?!" Baekhyun wails with laughter.

"Get your mind outta the gutter!" Sehun snaps jokingly, making an EW face. "I meant, Sara, have you been hanging out with people who aren't good for you?"

I smile, and say, "Yeah, totally! I've been hanging out with, like, Ingi Pati (Popular partyers) on the bus! They're sooo wild and nice!" I make sure the sarcasm is dripping from every word. The boys start laughing again, loudly, until the door opens, and suddenly, we all shut our mouths, turn to face the front of the room, and put down any school-supply-projectile-weapons, looking like the perfect image of angelic children.

In walks the Creative Writing teacher, Mr. Kang. He's one of the youngest teachers, only 26, and he's by far the nicest. He's short, I doubt he goes any higher than 5'1''. He wears very conservative clothing, and his hair is always straight and neat.

"Good morning, class!" Mr. Kang chants the same sentence every class. We echo him. "Today, we have a new student! Everyone, say hello to Luhan!" Mr. Kang gestures grandly at the door. In walks a boy. He's got blonde hair, and looks like he just randomly pulled his uniform out of his laundry hamper. His clothes are all rumpled, and he's missing his tie.

The boy bows, and introduces himself. His gaze sweeps the room, looking for a place to sit. But Creative writing isn't the most popular class, so what few desks there are, are occupied by my friends, except for the spot next to me. His eyes widen when he sees my face, but only for a moment. He bows to the teacher, and goes to sit down next to me.

I turn my head, smile at him, and then pay attention to the teacher.

"So, over the sesmester, we have been exploring different generes of writing. Who can name a few?" Mr. Kang starts the class. I raise my hand, knowing he won't pick me. Kai and Kris raise their hands as well. Mr. Kang won't call on them either, even though all three of us know the answer. He won't call on me because I always know the answer, and he wants to give the boys a chance. Mr. Kang won't call on Kai or Kris because, though they both know the answers just as well as I do, the pair are more likely to give a joking answer like 'FART!' then the actual answer.

No one else raises their hand though, which is normal. But I guess Mr. Kang was tired of this by now. He snapped, "Oh, for goodness sake! You all know the god forsaken answers, so why do only three people raise their hands!" Mr. Kang paused, and paced in front of the chalkboard. Then, he whirls to face the class once more. "How about this? Whoever answers a question correctly will get a point. At the end of the class, whoever has the most points will get one week with no homework for this class. And since Sara seems to be the only one taking this class seriously, she will start off with five points!" Mr. Kang makes a score board on the chalkboard, and puts five tallymarks next to my name. Mr. Kang looks at me, and suddenly I get an idea. I giggle a little bit, then, as if I can't control my laughter anymore, burst out laughing.

"Ms. Sara? Are you ok?" Mr. Kang asks. I manage to control my laughter.

"Yes sir," I reply, "But I'm definatly going to win! I mean, even if you hadn't given me a head start, the only people who stood a chance were Kris and Kai, but now that I have five points to start, there's no way I'm going to lose!"

All my friends turn to look at me, and the new boy, Luhan, leans closer and whispers in my ear, "Oh, it's on!" Mr. Kang asks the first question again, and the whole class raised their hands. Mr. Kang wasn't going to call on me, but I was still gonna try. He called on Xiumin.

"We have studied: Horror, Science Fiction, Romanctic Literature, romance, comedy, and Dramatic Flare." Xiumin answered promptly. Mr. Kang smiled, and put a mark on the board next to Xiumin's name. Xiumin turned to me and said with a neck roll and a finger movement, "Take that!"

"Yeah, you have one point to my five! You need to get five more to beat me!" I retort, getting my hand ready for Mr. Kang's next question.

"Next question: What do you think we're going to be spending the rest of the year doing? I gave you the answer the beginning of the year!" Mr. Kang announced. Ah-ha! I'm most likely the only one who knows that one! My hand shoots up, faster than the others. "Yes, Ms. Sara?"

"Each of us is going to pick a genera, and write a story for it. For example, if I picked Horror, I would write a horror story." I answer. When Mr. Kang adds a point, I'm careful not to show any sign of arrogance or the like. That would just make it worse.

"Yes. Now, what are the parameters for this story? How long does it have to be? At least how many words? What font size?" Mr. Kang takes his sweet time picking someone. He picks Tao.

"It has to be at least ten pages, normal font size, which is size eleven, in normal font too. It has to be at least five thousand words." Tao lists off the requirements on his fingers. Tao gets a point.

Anyway, with all said and done, by the end of the class, which was just review, I had the most points.

"Ms. Sara, with seven points to the runner up's three, wins!" Mr. Kang announces.

"That was completely unfair!" Chen protests.

"Yeah! You purposly made it so she would win!" Kris whined.

"Well, since Ms. Sara has been working the hardest out of all of you, she deserves the break the most!" Mr. Kang replies.

Class ends with the boys promising to work harder. We all walk out, and head our seperate ways. I walk with Luhan, Tao, and Suho to lunch, since we share the same lunch period. But I bump into someone...
