Baby Don't Cry

Soo Hee doesn’t know how to react.

Yi Fan had always been gentle when it comes to Jae Hee, but now, watching the older boy shout and lecture at her teary-eyed friend, made her unsure of what to do.

Running to comfort Jae Hee was a big no-no.

Joining Yi Fan in lecturing her was out of the question, too.

So Soo Hee just stood there, a few feet behind Yi Fan and Ha Ra, who has now joined the former in his litany.

Jae Hee came home in the early morning, the sun not out yet, accompanied by a frowning Zi Tao and a pissed off Yi Fan who immediately kicked the first chair he sees into pieces, the noise stirring them from their shallow sleep. It was Ha Ra who hugged Jae Hee first but before Soo Hee could even move to ask her friend’s condition, Yi Fan had already pulled Jae Hee out of the living room and into the kitchen where he started shouting out his litany.

“What happened, Yeol?” Soo Hee asked Chan Yeol who just finished talking to Zi Tao.

“The Silver Stag of O University was responsible for Jae Hee’s kidnap.”

Silver Stag.

Soo Hee frowned upon hearing the school and gang involved. Silver Stag was the rival gang of her school, X University, and Yi Fan’s gang, Black Dragon. To hear that Jae Hee was kidnapped by those people made her blood boil.

“Why did they have to kidnap Jae Hee of all people?” she pouted, making Chan Yeol look at her.

“Jae Hee-ssi is someone important in the underground world of gangs being Yi Fan’s sister and all.” Baek Hyun answered her.

“Okay, I get that. But why is Yi Fan-oppa so mad?”

“Because White Stag thought of taking Jae Hee as ransom to make Yi Fan step down his throne. White Stag and Black Dragon have been at each other’s necks for the title of king of all gangs.” Chan Yeol replied.

“And because Jae Hee stood up for the leader of the White Stag when Yi Fan was about to give the finishing blow.”

Soo Hee’s eyes widened at Zi Tao’s statement. Stood up? Soo Hee glanced at Jae Hee who had her head down while still being lectured by Ha Ra. Yi Fan was just staring at her friend with crossed arms and an annoyed expression on his face. She kept her eyes on Jae Hee, and when the latter met her gaze, she gave a sad smile which was returned in a similar manner.

Why would you do that, Jae?

~xoxo~

Soo Hee gave one last look of the mansion before making her way. They all decided leave to give Jae Hee and Yi Fan some privacy to settle the matters between them. Chan Yeol excused himself saying that he had to pick up something the local guitar shop so he couldn’t accompany her to walk home.

“Soo Hee, wait up.”

Soo Hee turned around to see Joon Myeon jogging towards her. She stopped walking and waited until the boy was walking side by side with her.

“Are you heading home?” Joon Myeon asked between breaths and Soo Hee simply nodded in response. She snuck a glance at the boy before frowning. Their “hangout” yesterday was interrupted because of the news and now, Soo Hee couldn’t help but think how their night could have ended.

“Sorry about our… hangout session.”

Joon Myeon looked at her and smiled dismissively, saying that it was fine and that they can do it again some other time.

“I still feel bad, though…”

“It’s fine, it’s fine, Soo. Don’t fret.” Joon Myeon chuckled and ruffled her hair, making the shorter girl blush and hide her face. Soo Hee mentally cursed Joon Myeon’s sweet and charming side because it just made her feel more confused and it slowly breaks her resolve. She was determined to start anew with Joon Myeon as friends. Nothing more but just friends.

“Soo Hee.”

Soo Hee glanced up to see Min Seok leaning on a post, a smile plastered on his lips but eyes dangerously glaring at Joon Myeon. She didn’t notice the exact same glare emanating from the boy beside him, nor did she notice the frown that momentarily flashed across Joon Myeon’s smiling façade.

“You’re heading home, right?” Min Seok asked her and she silently nodded.

“I’ll you home. I’m sure Suho wouldn’t mind, right, buddy?” Min Seok added and Soo Hee couldn’t help but gulp at the increasing tension in the atmosphere. Joon Myeon was glare-smiling at Min Seok who, in turn, was smugly smirking.

What the heck was going on?

“I don’t mind, actually. Take her home.” Joon Myeon answered sickly sweet and Soo Hee cringed. So not the Kim Joon Myeon she knows. Min Seok ‘hmphs’ before approaching Soo Hee.

“Let’s go, Soo Hee-ssi.”

Soo Hee looked from Min Seok’s expectant smile to Joon Myeon’s small one. She wanted to say something, anything really, but she doesn’t know what the right words are.

“It’s fine, Soo. I’ll see you tomorrow then.” Joon Myeon smiled and placed a hand on her head making her blush. Min Seok frowned and pulled her hand, away from Joon Myeon.

“Well, see ya, Suho.” Min Seok waved wihout looking back whilst holding onto Soo Hee’s hand. Soo Hee confusingly looked back at Joon Myeon only to see him smile and wave before shouting.

“I’ll expect our next hangout soon, Soo!”

Soo Hee slammed onto Min Seok’s back when he stopped walking before continuing on. She didn’t know if she should say something to Min Seok and whatnot because it was plain obvious that her sunbae was jealous and mad.

“Are you falling for him again?”

The question made Soo Hee’s thoughts stop. She hesitatingly looked up at Min Seok to see the sad smile that graces his features. Soo Hee felt her heart clench at the sight and before she could even think, she shook her head.

“N-no.”

“No?” Min Seok repeated and she nodded.

“I just want to start anew with Joon Myeon… as friends.” the last part of her sentence sounding so unsure and wrong in her head.

“Oh, okay. I thought you were in love with him again.” Min Seok chuckled nervously and she smiled awkwardly.

“Especially since I’m just starting to show you what I’m capable of.”

~xoxo~

Soo Hee and Ha Ra stared at the person seating opposite of them in the living room of Soo Hee’s home. They looked at each other before glancing back at the person who was busy texting on the phone.

“Yi Fan-oppa…threw you out of the house?” Soo Hee hesitatingly asked. The question made the person, Jae Hee, put down her phone and look up at them.

“Yup.”

“Because of yesterday’s fight?”

“Yup.”

“And where are you planning to stay?” Soo Hee grimaced as she laid eyes on the traveling bag and duffel bag behind her friend. Don’t say what I think you’re about to say.

“Here.”

“No.” Soo Hee deadpanned.

“What? I had four choices. Ha Ra’s home was crowded. She has relatives over and Taozi won’t let me stay in his house because Kris said so. So this is the only place I can crash in!” Jae Hee explained with a grin.

“Still no.”

“What. Why???” Jae Hee complained.

“You said you had four choices yet you only elaborated three. Stay with the fourth choice.” Soo Hee reasoned out.

“That’s what I told her earlier.” Ha Ra muttered beside her before sighing.

“I can’t.” Jae Hee fidgeted in her seat and Soo Hee raised a brow.

“Why not?”

“Because I’d rather die than accept that invitation.”

“Why don’t you let that pride of yours simmer down a bit and accept the freakin’ invitation!?” Soo Hee raised her voice as she slammed her hand on the table.

“Why don’t you just let me stay here?!” Jae Hee shouted back and soon enough, they were both glaring at each other.

“God why does this have to be so hard~!!!” Ha Ra complained while rubbing her temples.

“Soo, just let Jae stay here for a couple of nights…”

“What-”

“Yay! Thank you, Ha Ra-unnie!” Jae Hee exclaimed as she hugged said person. Soo Hee gave Ha Ra a pout. Jae Hee was a pain to sleep with, and she knows it after all the sleepovers they’ve done. Jae Hee was not your typical sleeping guest.

“Sorry, Soo. Just bear with it for a while. I can’t allow Jae to stay with a guy, much less the guy who kidnapped her.”

“Hey, he didn’t kidnap me.”

“What. Seriously? He offered to make you stay at his home?” Soo Hee asked disbelievingly.

“Well, yeah. I didn’t accept it though. That dude is so freakin’ weird and annoying.”

“Jae, are you eloping with that dude?” she couldn’t help but ask the stupid question.

“What? . No. No way highway.” Jae Hee retorted with disgust and Soo Hee couldn’t help but laugh.

“Stop laughing. Who knows… Maybe you and Min Seok are eloping.” Jae Hee smirked and Soo Hee threw a pillow at her friend while trying to hide her obvious blush.

“Shut up!”

“Oh god. You guys are so immature.” Ha Ra commented on the side.

Jae Hee stuck a tongue out and she did the same. They continued with their silent feud of funny faces when the front door opened and a girl with curly hair entered.

“Oh, you guys are here.”

“Annyeong, Ra Yeon~!” Jae Hee stood up and went to envelope the newcomer in a bear hug.

“Gah, Jae! I can’t breathe!” Ra Yeon wheezes before being let go.

“Welcome home, sis.” Soo Hee smiled and helped Ra Yeon with her baggage.

“How was the trip?”

“Tiring.” Ra Yeon grumbled before flopping down onto the sofa.

The next couple of hours were spent in ridiculous conversations about Ra Yeon’s one week school trip to Japan. And by bedtime, Jae Hee was comfortably nestled in a futon in her room, sleeping the night away. She was just about to close her eyes when she felt her phone vibrate next to her. She opened the message and covered her smiling lips.

Goodnight, Soo Hee-ssi. Sweet dreams~! Dream of me, okay? ;)

I like the story's plot but I think you should have given some signs if you want to do some flashbacks. Because it's quite confusing if you don't give signs. :)
