SIWON POV

Shreya had progressed well. The doctors said that due to the fear of getting stuck in the dark,

her body had reacted and therefore she started walking again.

Taking a two week leave, I admitted her once again to the rehab, with daily visits. They would

now help her walk. But Shreya insisted that I should stay with her throughout.

It pained me to see her in so much pain. Her leg muscles had become hard since she could not

move her legs, now that she had suddenly started walking, it was extremely hard for her.

She walked two to steps in the begiining. She would hold my hand and take a step or two.

"Siwon-ah...I can't...can't ...walk."

"Shreya...take one more step, just one more. You can do it. You have to do it." And with a lot

of difficulty she would take small steps, and then fall to the gorund. I held her tightly before she

hit the floor. The nurses then would amassage her feet to increase the blood flow.

It felt as if I was teaching a baby to walk. Shreya never left my hands. She held them tightly till

she took the last step each day. As days went by, she walked for lokger hours. rom the room,

we shifted to the corridors and then to the garden. The doctors were happy to see her progress

and her happiness made me happy too. I would bring her white roses everyday, for her

encouragement. It made her happy instantly.

But then that day was a magical moment for both of us.

It had been 3 months that she was learning to walk. Shreya still had the habbit of holding my

hands while walking. She walked well, slowly and nice but never let go of my hand. I wanted

her to walk by herself that day.

"Shreya...look there...a butterfly." She loved looking at them.

"Where?" She turned around her head, here and there.

I took the opportunity and slowly let go of her hands. She was still searching for it when I left

her hands and ran. Shreya stood there,shocked.

"Shreya..come to me." I shouted from under the tree.

"Siwon-ah..why..why did you leave me..."

"Shh..look into my eyes and slowly walk to me."

She listened and then our eyes met. She slowly took small steps and came walking to me by

herself. But when she reached me,she slumped down. I held her once again.

"Why did you leave me and go, siwon-ah?" Her eyes wet.

"So that you could walk by yourself. See you did so well."

"What...if...what if..I would have fallen?"

"But you didn;t...did you? I can't be with you forever Shreya...you had to do this yourself. Now

stop crying."

Standing there, she hugged me tight. I held her in my arms, kissing away her tears. I did not

leave her hand anymore that day.
