Jiyeon

  Four years ago:

“Kai, wait up!”  Jiyeon yelled in delight.  Hmph, he's always so fast, never waits up for me!!

“Hey, come on Jiyeon, try to catch me!!”  Kai looked back, his hair swept from his forehead by the wind.  

His beautiful face smiling, laughing as he stopped running and hurried back to where Jiyeon is, 

trying to catch her breath.  

Jiyeon looked up, pretending to glare at Kai, but failed miserably and ended up laughing as Kai put 

on his so innocent face.

“I...I am never running with you again!”  Jiyeon huffed, trying to punch Kai but he dodged smartly

and grabbed Jiyeon's hand, putting it where his own heart was beating, fast and furious, just like hers.  

Jiyeon looked away, embarrassed, though greedily feeling Kais heart, mimicking her own, she smiled.  

Kai looked intently into Jiyeons eyes, with passion, Jiyeon stared back, unable to look away.

“You feel my heart Jiyeon?  It'll always belong to you, always.”  

Kai promised, smiling that revealed his rows of perfect teeth.  

Jiyeon’s heart skiped a beat, she wanted so much for this moment to stop, stuck forever.

“Always?”  She whispered.

“Always, my heart will always be with you, when I leave, then I have left my heart with you.  

You'll always be my angel Jiyeon, my only love.”  

Kai’s hot breath brushed Jiyeon’s cheek, she blushed furiously, her heart out of rhythm.

“What have I done to deserve someone like you Kai?”

“You have done it by simply existing Jiyeon, you make my world full of light and happiness, … … I love you Jiyeon.”  

Kai reached down, his eyes serious, his tan skin reflected the sunlight, the sunlight that witnessed 

their kiss, 

that sealed eternity, … … or did it??

Four years later:

Jiyeon

“Anneaseyo, T-ara meda.”  The girls chorused, saying the verse they have practiced millions of 

times in the practice room.  

Jiyeon looked over at Hyomin, who was trying to get her mic to work.  

“Here, use mine.”  Eunjung passed hers over, Hyomin gracefully catched it and answered the MC's 

question.

“Well, Tara has only debuted a month ago, and for us to receive this many love and support from 

the fans, we are the most grateful.  We will try harder to present the best of ourselves on stage so

please look forward to it!”  

She finished the answer perfectly, not one word missing from the memorization.

MC: “This question is for Jiyeon, as we all know, the fans are very curious about Tara's life before 

debut.  So if you can please tell me Jiyeon, before you debuted, did you ever encounter in a 

relationship or had a crush on someone?”

Jiyeon: “Well,” laughed shyly “I am so embarrassed so say this because I have never been in a relationship before.”  

Laughing more as Eunjung teased her, “our maknae has never been in love, so she doesn't know anything.  

Aww that's cute!”  

Jiyeon blushed and playfully pouted to Eunjung's teasing, which lead to more laughter from the MC and the audience.  

They settled into a more comfortable mode, no one noticed as Jiyeon looked away from the camera 

for a moment, then quickly came back, smiling again.

Kai

Kai taps the “X” on the window, Jiyeon’s smiling face as she answered the MC'S question disappeared.  

He put the phone back in to his pocket, staring off into space, until D.O’s voice called out.

“Hey Jongin, come on, rehearsal.”

Kai snapped back in focus and got up quickly, the sentence burned into his heart.

“I have never been in a relationship before.”

Jiyeon

“Omo, I think my bones are so old I can't move them anymore!”  

Hwayoung complained, the rest of the members laughed as they all climbed in to the van.

“Backseat window!”  Jiyeon called out, climbing in to the back, satisfied.

“Ughh  I hate middles, you get squeezed!”  Hyomin complained, then settled in the middle between 

Qri and Jiyeon in the back.  The car set off into sheer darkness as the members settled into silence, trying to get some rest 

before their next schedule.  

Jiyeon pulled out her phone, the key chain clinked softly, she stared at it, lost in the memory:

“This is for you.”  Kai said, dangling from his hand was a small silvery key chain, a tiny heart clinks with 

the outer heart that surrounds it.

“Wow,” Jiyeon breathed, “it’s so pretty.”  

Kai smiled happily, “see, you're the heart inside, and I am the one that's around you.  

And we will always be like this,  circling around each other.  

Jiyeon reached up and touched the small heart with her fingertips, giggling happily at the thought.  

Kai s his arm around her waist from behind and put his head at the nape of her neck, they lost themselves in the perfect moment.

Jiyeon pulled herself back from the memory hastily.

“Pathetic.”  She said pitifully, then turned on her phone, the small heart clinked with the bigger one, 

each sound tugging at Jiyeon's heart like a needle.

Search... ... ‘Kai’ she typed, click ‘search’, she scrolled down to the newly updated ones,

choosing one and clicked the play button.  Kai's face appeared in the millions of lights that 

surrounded the stage, 

‘Exo K -------the hottest boy group of 2012, performs at Meongae Bowl’ the title read.

Jiyeon eyes focused on Kai's perfect face as he and the other members introduced themselves:

'1,2,3 We are One!  We are Exo K!’  

The screams were deafening, Jiyeon's eyes never left Kai's face, he haven't changed one bit, 

she thought, still perfectly looking, she recalled from her memories painfully.  

All those times with Kai rushes back to her, making her wince.

In the video: Kai:'Umm, well I think since I have such tan skin, it makes me ier.’  

He smiles a killer smile at the camera, fangirls went crazy as the other members cracked up.  

Jiyeon's mouth lift up at the corners, despite all those old memories that's tugging at her heart, 

Kai is still himself, full of charisma.  

His perfectly tan skin, chocolate killing eyes, soft ruffly hair, and those y full lips, 

Jiyeon can't contain the screaming for his hotness coming from her insides.  

NO!  I can't keep doing this to myself, she pulled herself back to the present, 

why am I still obsessed with him, you stupid girl, Jiyeon cursed herself. 

Stop clinging to him, just let him go, he doesn't belong to you anymore.  

Jiyeon hates herself for her weakness for Kai, she tells herself over and over again but she just 

can't seem to let go, he didn't want you anymore remember?  

She reminded herself painfully as the memory rushes back to her, unable to stop:

“We can't be together anymore Jiyeon.”  Kai said in an emotionless voice, he stood rigid in the rain, 

not looking at her.

“Wh...what?  What, Kai, what happened?  Tell me why, Kai!!!”  Jiyeon stammered in panic, 

not knowing what to do.  She tried to reach up for his arm but Kai moved out of her reach, 

still not facing her.  Jiyeon froze, trying desperately to understand.

“K...Kai, please tell me what's wrong.  Tell me please!!  Is it something I did?  I will make it up!!  

I'll do anything for you Kai, just tell me why Kai?  What happened between us??”  

Jiyeon was now begging, her voice in a hysterical cry.

 Kai finally looked up to her eyes, still cold and emotionless.

“Jiyeon, I am sorry but we can't be together anymore, I am going to debut soon and you are too, 

we can't live like this and drag each other down.  I am going to live my dream so we will have to let this go Jiyeon, please understand.” 

Kai's eyes were full of pain now, he clutched his hands into fists and reached up, 

touching Jiyeon's face lightly with his fingertips.

“Goodbye.”

He turned and walked briskly into the rain, it poured down harder now, Jiyeon blinks a raindrop out of her eye.

“No Kai, please, I beg you please Kai!!  DON'T DO THIS TO ME!! Oh god please Kai I need you, 

you can't leave please Kai!!”  

She screamed in despair into the rain, oh god Kai is leaving me, she thought, I can't live without him!!  

My heart, she clutched at her stomach in pain, crumbling on the sidewalk in a heap, 

the rain soaked her through as she cried out for Kai, hopeless.  

The passengers on the street shot her pity glances but no one went to help her.

Jiyeon shuddered at the memory, she could still feel the rain on her face, why can't I just give up on him?  

But that doesn't matter now, she thought.  We are over and he doesn't have any feeling for me anymore, 

so I better get on with my life and stop torturing myself like this.

Kai

Kai shut off the lamp at the hotel, he was the last one to go to bed, D.O has already went to sleep.  

Kai scooted into the cold covers and signed in exhaustion, waking up at 4am tomorrow to go to Busan.  

He reached inside his shirt and pulled out a locket, popping it open, Jiyeons face smiled up at him, 

engraved on one side, it says:Kai+Jiyeon...4ever’  He signed again and popped it close, stuffing it 

back into his shirt, where his heart is, and drifted into sleep.
