Yoona sobbed and wiped her tears before facing the mysterious guy standing in front of her. She hesitantly lifted her head, afraid to show her sad tears in front of others.

“so you are the girl that I always see here” the man has spoken before Yoona can fully show her face. Yoona gasped because of the familiarity of the voice

“Jonghyun?” Yoona’s swollen eyes met his then Jonghyun sat next to her with his armed cross

“I’ve never thought of seeing you here, crying. Wae?” he asked while randomly looking around. This would be the first time that they’ve been physically close since they knew each other

“it’s nothing” Jonghyun felt tremble in her voice

“I shouldn’t have asked you that. I knew that you won’t answer. So, why do you always come here? Is it just a hobby or you want to be away?”

Yes. I want to be away, even just for a second. I want to be alone. It’s my only way to let out the feelings that I’ve been hiding for a long time.

“It’s peaceful here and quiet. I always come here when I need time with myself”

“oh….me too, Yoona” Silence occupied them that the only thing they can here is the strong breeze and the small noise made by the waves of the river

“I know it would be odd to hear this coming from me but, I thought you’re a really beautiful girl” Jonghyun finally turned his face to look at Yoona’s lonely face and he still managed to keep up a smile to bring a positive outlook to Yoona. He gazed at her doe-like eyes and found it really attractive

“I know you might’ve heard this compliment from others and……”

“……you’re the first guy who told me that” she half-smiled, feeling a bit overwhelmed to hear a compliment from the casanova Kim Jonghyun who is actually, a little surprised with Yoona’s response

“try to get rid of those glasses and you better stop tying your hair” he said and still acted cool in front of her

"I hope you are expecting me, not to believe that" her voice became clearer to hear than how it was before. Jonghyun felt that Yoona was able to finally get rid of showing what she truly feels at this moment in front him after being capable of talking in her most confident way as if nothing is troubling her

"I know you won't but, try believing me" Yoona doesn't know if it's an effect of crying too hard or Jonghyun sounded way too serious in her ears

"maybe I......should go now" before leaving, she awkwardly smile at him. She paused for a while on her position and wondered.

Seriously, what's with Kim Jonghyun today? We don't really talk that much but I know he's not typical of talking that way. He's too serious with the words that came out from his mouth.

Yoona sighed and shook her head. She glanced at her back to take a glimpse of Jonghyun, who's already gone then she continued walking again

1 month later

"Minho, Jonghyun? What are you doing here?" Yoona approached the boys at the door step

"I told Yuri that I'll wait for her here. Is it okay?"

"oh..of course" she softly said. As usual, Minho didn't come for her "then what is Jonghyun doing here?" Yoona made Jonghyun an alibi to shift her attention away from Minho

"me? I just want to come" Jonghyun rolled her eyes at the ceiling

"I see. I'll leave you guys here. I need to go back inside"

"I just noticed, Yoona acts a bit cold towards me, isn't she?" Jonghyun whispered at Minho after they've settled theirselves on a table

"it's normal, Jonghyun. It's because you really aren't close, remember?"

"it makes me feel like she doesn't want me here" he mumbled

But, she acted differently to me the last time we had our real first talk. Was it because I caught her crying in the middle of the night so she had to treat me better than usual in order not to let others know? Or, was it because.........

"yah!! Kim Jonghyun, you look blank? Are you okay?"

"I was just thinking of someone. She has been in my head for a month already" he frustratedly said but didn't notice what he is saying to Minho

"she? You're thinking of a girl?" Minho suddenly gained interest

"did I say she? Oh. It's my niece. She's one heck of a troublemaker so I need to make random excuses to save her from being punished" he lied

"aish. I thought you can finally settle down with a girl. I've never seen you thinking so deep"

The boys heard the glass door opening and Minho immediately jump off from his seat, expecting that it's Yuri

"Yuri!" Minho called her name and it sounded so sweet.

Yoona heard Minho calling Yuri's name so she got out of the room and to welcome her friend. Sooyoung and Taeyeon followed her as well. As soon as Yoona stepped out of the room, it caught her attention to see Minho kissing Yuri. She clenched her teeth and slowly looked away to avoid from being obvious that she's jealous. What she didn't know, Jonghyun has been observing her. He also saw Sooyoung, whispering something in her ear which made her have the guts to come closer to the couple.

"Yoong, you look a bit pale. Are you sick?"

"I'm fine" Yoona supressed a smile

"thanks, Yoong for letting me wait here. We'll go ahead now"

"take care, Minho, Yuri" she said and waved goodbye.

Minho puts his arms around Yuri's shoulders and they leave. Sooyoung patted her shoulders and went ahead with Taeyeon. Yoona sighed and turned around to go back but she noticed that Jonghyun is still there and he's staring at her

"why are you still here?"

"what I said to you lately....it's true"

"huh?" the confused Yoona asked

"I want to come here. I came here because of you. And I'm still here because I'm waiting for you" Sooyoung and Taeyeon heard what Jonghyun said to Yoona but decided to keep listening secretly

"you're.....you're what?"

"I'm waiting for you, didn't you hear me? I want to bring you home. It's dangerous if a girl is alone on her way home. Minho didn't say anything and once again, I'm doing this because I want to" he mentioned that Minho didn't leave any favor to him to take Yoona home, thinking that Yoona might say that Minho asked him to. At least, he was able to let Yoona know that it was his will to do this

"okay. Is it alright if you'll wait for me for few more minutes?"

"take your time" Jonghyun sit back. It's so surprising for Yoona that Jonghyun is acting this way. She went back to the room and Sooyoung and Taeyeon are already prepared to talk about her conversation with Jonghyun

"I didn't know that you and Jonghyun also talk" Taeyeon started

"we're also friends, you know"

"and he also wants to take you home even though he'll have to wait for half an hour" Sooyoung added then Yoona gave them a shock look

"were you secretly listening to our conversation?"

"no. We just heard" they said at the same time

"think whatever you want to think but remember, that's Kim Jonghyun. He's twice a casanova than Minho"

"that's why it's interesting to know why he's suddenly treating you this way" Sooyoung murmured but only for her and Taeyeon's ears

"don't you mind if we start walking here? I want to spare time to have a talk with you" Jonghyun parked the car just few blockes away from Yoona's house. Yoona nodded then she got out of the car after Jonghyun did.

Does he want to ask me about last time?

They begin walking and Jonghyun is leading the way while Yoona is behind him    

"how does it feel that you've successfully given up the guy you love to your best friend" Jonghyun suddenly blurted out. Yoona froze at her spot and she was obviously struck with his question

"mwo?"

"you think I don't know?" Jonghyun looked back and he can see in Yoona's eyes the fear that she is currently feeling. Fear that there’s another person who might’ve an idea of her pain

"what...what do you mean?" Yoona's voice trembled and tried to avoid Jonghyun's glare. Jonghyun let out a small die laugh before responding

"that you're crazily in love with Minho"

"it's already late, Jonghyun. I have to go" Yoona attempted to walk away but Jonghyun quickly caught her wrist and he slightly pushed her shoulders against the wall. Yoona is trying to release herself but Jonghyun's grip in her shoulders is too strong

"please, Jonghyun. Let me go" she begged

"you know what, I'm going to be honest you. It's really amazing that you've hidden your feelings for years. And until now, you're still not even giving him a little sign that you love him"

"Let me go, Jonghyun" she begged once again

"I'm not going to let you go until you tell me"

"tell you what?" she yelled and tears are already composing in her eyes but Jonghyun just ignored. He's desperate to know everything and he doesn't want to lose this chance. He wants to confirm his thoughts by hearing it coming straight from Yoona

"Minho is your best friend, your childhood friend. You're the one who knew him the best and vice versa. You had all the chance to tell him and you had a great chance of making him yours. I thought you're a smart girl but you just gave him away? The guy you love is simply in front of you, Im Yoona! And the worst part is, you've became the bridge of giving Minho the opportunity to be with Yuri. Are you a fool?"

"maybe I am, Jonghyun"

"wae?!"

"you won't understand"

"why wouldn't I understand? Why do you have to help him? Why do you have to give him to another girl even though you already knew you can make him yours? I want to hear your answer, right now!!"

"because I want to move on!!" Yoona finally gave in from Jonghyun's interrogations. She has no choice anymore. Even if she denies, he'll still keep asking the same questions, over and over again which would make her feel like the pain is also keep on coming back to her

"you...you want to move on?"

 you want to move on? He repeated his question in his mind and it's coming back and forth in his head. 

"even Sooyoung and Taeyeon. They've been scolding me for a long time already that I should confess to him but, I don't want to. Minho doesn't see me as a girl, but as his sister, his family. And you think because I'm his best friend, I can make him mine? No. Because I know him too much, I won't stand a chance. Last but not the least, I'm afraid of the future instances. I don't want things to change. I'd rather be contented with what we are right now than ruin things without me, noticing. Like presently, because of my love to him, I didn't realize that my heart was already broken. And right now, I'm suffering from it. What I did for him and Yuri, was one of the means to take this pain away. As his best friend, I'd be willing to help him have the girl that truly makes him happy"

"I knew it" Jonghyun gave Yoona a smirk

"what?"

"You're afraid to lose your friendship with Minho, am I right? And you're also afraid that it's not only your friendship that you might lose but you're scared that there are already people who’d get hurt. So, you've agreed with the help he asked from you, thinking that maybe it's time for you to just forget your love for him. You thought it would be easier to do that if you'd see him with someone else but until now, there's still a portion in your heart that belongs to Minho. Yes, you want to help yourself, but you'd still make sure that nobody will be affected with your decisions even if you're the one who's going to be at risk in the end. You're sacrificing your happiness for the sake of everyone. That's the most selfless act ever " he gazed at Yoona who is still at shock. He clearly and correctly stated everything that Yoona doesn't need to explain furtherly.

How did he know all of this? Even Sooyoung and Taeyeon can't completely understand everything but he...... 

"I've noticed that you have feelings towards Minho ever since he introduced me to you. I've been observing you with the way you look, talk and the way you are when he's with you. I felt how much you love him and that love became the cause why you are hurt"

"Jonghyun, I......."

Yoona's words were cut when Jonghyun planted his lips to her forehead that caused her to gasp in surprise

"let me help you" 

That's right!!  I added Jonghyun as one of the main characters. I thought JongYoon looked very appealing in my eyes.
