Beneath the Stars
DreamcatcherSungmin entered SM Entertainment a little before ten o’clock with two bags of food in his arms and made his way to the sound studio where he knew Yesung had been recording a song for a soundtrack, and waited as he finished up, setting down the bags and listening to his alluring voice behind the glass until he was finished.
Yesung talked to the staff another couple minutes and then apologized to Sungmin for taking longer than expected. “Follow me,” he said, grabbing one of the bags and also another cloth bag and lead Sungmin up towards the roof of the building.
“What are you going to show me?”
“There’s a meteor shower tonight,” he said, setting down the bags and grabbing a couple thick blankets out of the bag and spreading them out. “It happens every year around the middle of August. You should be able to see them without a telescope, so you’ll have to keep your eyes open.”
Sungmin smiled at Yesung’s imagination. His ideas were so creative, sometimes it did feel like they were dating instead of hanging out as friends. Yesung pulled out a couple small candles and lit them, to give them just a little light while they ate and poured a couple glasses of wine.
Sungmin and Yesung filled their plates and ate as they conversed about their upcoming schedules and what was new. After eating, Yesung tossed him a fortune cookie and he broke it open.
It read: The road to hell is paved with good intentions.
“I’ve gotten that same fortune twice now,” Sungmin frowned. “It’s starting to make me nervous.”
Yesung laughed and blew out the candles. He lay down on his back to watch the skies and Sungmin hesitated only a moment before doing likewise and lying down next to him. Sure enough, he spotted seven shooting stars in the first five minutes.
“How did you know that I like stargazing?” Sungmin asked.
“I didn’t. But you seem to like throwing money into fountains and looking for four leaf clovers, so I took a chance.”
Sungmin laughed and kept watch over the sky. “If this keeps up, I could make hundreds of wishes. One of them is bound to come true.”
