Assonance
Description
Assonance: A technique often used in poetry to describe two words with the same vowels. They can be far apart from each other, or relatively close. They can be words with completely different meanings and origins, but they are linked by this technique…Just like us.
We’re all just like random words on a page, different in our own ways. Yet somehow, they notice us and some regard us as an item, neglecting our differences which form that minuscule space between us; the little space that makes us two different words. Resulting as the reason why we can not and will not be a couple.
A word so out of the blue yet it is perfect to describe me and you…A word which describes all of us, a word which bonded us together. Because of that word, we suffered.

Stepping onto the balcony of the company, memories flowed through her mind like the circulation of blood; going around with the joyful as well as the sorrowful moments. Reminding her, what she had been through to become the person she was. For the past years, it felt as if she was constantly fighting in a war. Nobody knew who the actual enemy was since they were all blinded by their personal conflicts with each other. Unknowingly, they tore themselves apart with their own hands.
“Anna!”
She turned around gracefully to greet Sungmin who was advancing to her direction. She tried to smile at him, but her eyes dropped as if there was a load above them which was pressuring them down. Her smile faded away like it never existed to begin with as well as planting a solemn expression onto her flawless face. “Why are you here again?” He asked with concern, even when he already knew the answer.
She looked as if she had many sleepless nights, since she was clearly exhausted. The frown on her lips added another weight onto Sungmin’s heart. He knew the incident was haunting her, but he never imagined, in fact he didn’t dare to imagine that she would become so lifeless because of it.
“Because here was where she dropped.” Tears began to immerse from her eyelids before they plunged onto the cold, stoned floor. The fallen tears sounded like falling pins to his ears, so distinct and sharp as if they were able to pierce through his heart.
Sungmin stared at her for a while before wrapping his arms around her petit body. Anna on the other hand, simply let her tears roll onto his shoulders uncontrollably. Her heart was helplessly aching for her friend, whom she was willing to give her life to in order to save her. Maybe ‘friend’ wasn’t the correct term to use, since she wasn’t just a person who Anna could laugh with. She was a person who Anna couldn’t live without. Their souls bonded the moment they discovered each other’s existence. They were like twins with completely different personalities, but that never weakened their relationship.
Was it a misfortune to know someone who was going to hurt you? For Anna, it was no. Knowing people weren’t a misfortune, it was a blessing because the memories they created made all her sufferings seem insignificant.
[End song]
Background Information
The Headquarters were an organisation which was closely linked to the police station. It was the place where they trained talented youngsters to help the police. However, what many people didn’t know was that a lot of the people in the Headquarters were either unwanted, homeless, orphans, or children who were just living by themselves. The advantage of having those types of people working in the organisation was the fact that even if they die, it wouldn’t make a difference. It was a belief that never got exposed to anyone, but that was how they worked.
Once they have found someone suited for the organisation, they would put them under one of the following departments: forensic science, technology, sport or experimentation.
Each of those departments owns various sub-departments. However, experimentation is a department which stands by itself. It was a department which everyone feared most because the person who was being experimented on, was most likely to face death or some sort of mutation.
