The Forbidden Boy
Racing towards her apartment, Jieun cried harder. Her fingers tightly clenched on the wheel, as soon as the flashbacks of earlier events came into her. How her stomach churned unpleasantly as Jieun remembered the barely dressed tailing behind her of a fiancé. But no matter how angry she was, the feeling of sadness, disappointment and hurt, just buried that emotion six feet under.
With her feet pressing on the pedal, in ten minutes tops, she was on the parking lot, and was angrily sauntering towards the elevator. With her never ending waterworks, Jieun concentrated so hard, on breathing normally, and composing herself as the door opened, and out she went towards her apartment.
Unable to contain her feelings, and balance herself, she roughly leaned on the door, and slid down her floor. Jieun cried. Her tears came following along with her pain. This is the worse pain she had ever felt after her parents died. Fifteen years ago, Jieun looked like mess, and became a sad depressed kid. She barely ate and talked to anyone. If it wasn’t for Jiyeon, her brother and her aunt, things would’ve been worse. Fifteen years ago, she never thought she’d felt that pain again.
That kind of pain, when the pain you felt in your heart just radiates in every nook and cranny of your fragile self. That pain when your source of air becomes cut off. That pain that no matter how much you want it to be gone, it comes back worse the next day. That pain… that excruciating feeling… is eating Jieun up.
For the seven years she has known him, Jieun never really pictured him cheating on her. Frankly, she never imagined at all of being in a relationship with him. But within the span of five years they’ve been together, Jieun felt loved, and loved back. Even with a few and big shortcomings in their relationship, Kai and Jieun stuck with each other, and even survived for five long years. Jieun couldn’t deny it, that there were times when she thought that maybe Kai is also dating someone else behind her back, and those guesses were always washed half-heartedly whenever Jieun tells herself that she was just over thinking things, but seeing how he was caught red handed, it felt like the whole world came tumbling down upon her. Its hurts worse, since Kai was her first boyfriend, first love and now… her first heartbreak.
The woman wanted nothing but to get away. Jieun wanted to run away, and distanced herself from all of this, all of this hurt, cheating and most importantly away from Kai. For a moment, she wiped away her tears, and something clicked inside her mind. Standing up, she stumbled towards her room.
She scanned her spic and span bedroom, and Jieun’s eyes automatically eyed her luggage and her passport lying on her bedside table. In between its pages are two airline tickets. Without any second thought, Jieun seized her luggage and her passport. The woman wanted to get out of this place, and now destiny has given Jieun an opportunity. The last thing she has in mind right now is the big wedding she was going to miss tomorrow.
Car keys in hand, Jieun went down the elevator, thanking God that her neighbors indirectly decided to avoid her today. Getting out, she quickly set towards her car, and like always the guard greeted her, were Jieun could only muster a small smile before jumping insider her car. Switching the engine on, she made to time to take things slow and quickly raced out towards the city.
In a few hours the wedding will start. In a few hours, everything Jieun dreamed of was set to come true, bu
