One || The Forbidden Boy
The Forbidden BoyA blue sky, a warm weather, and a happy smile, amidst the bustling city, Lee Jieun happily cruised through the busy crowd of Seoul, as she tried to get into her appointment. “Cakes… the reception area,” she whispered to herself as she mentally recalled the lists she wrote down earlier. Finally stopping at the front of the glass-walled office, she stopped to glance at her reflection, taking time to fix her hair. Upon opening, the small bell gave a sound, quickly alerting the employee.
“Hello ma’am,” she greeted Jieun with a toothy smile.
“Hey Hara,” she greeted the woman with the same energy. “I just want to check if the flowers are already done, I’m sure the wedding planner has already called you.”
“Ah, ne Jieun-ssi,” Hara answered, and quickly disappeared from the back, and Jieun quickly followed. Just like what she wanted, the sun-kissed hued spiky orange dahlias, soft-pink garden rose, hanging millet and coral drops created the dramatic and bold effect she wanted. Jieun gave Hara a smile of approval, making the florist take a breath of relief. “I’m glad you liked it.”
“Well, you never fail to Hara,” Jieun said admiringly as she remembered the breath-taking arrangements Hara has done on the past wedding she had attended. “And the bouquet?”
“Oh,” Hara said eagerly as she disappeared to her work space, and came out with a pink and white bouquet. “Here it is,” she said as handed the flowers to an excited Jieun.
The woman was again very much satisfied as she held the bouquet of pink and white picoteed ranunculus that was encircled by capiz shells. The stems were wrapped around with a purple-hued ribbon. “This is beautiful Hara.”
“Thank you Jieun-ssi,” she smiled as she took the bouquet from her. “And we should just put that into place to survive until tomorrow.” Jieun grinned at her florist. “Oh, by the way, why are you the one here? Where’s your wedding planner?”
Jieun frowned. “She called me this morning, saying she was sick, so I had to cover in for her.”
“Oh.. a bride managing her own wedding, that’s a first,” she said complimenting her customers patience, as she showed her out of her work space.
Jieun smiled. “It’s my wedding anyways, so everything should be flawless,” she answered. Just like any other woman, she had been dreaming for this day to come, and she was less than a day closer to be wedded to her beloved, and everything, EVERYTHING SHOULD BE ABSOLUTELY PERFECT for Lee Jieun.
Suddenly, her ringtone erupted in the flower shop, quickly searching her phone, she answered, “Yoboseyo?”
“YAH! Lee Jieun, just because you’re going to be wife tomorrow, it clearly doesn’t excuse you from flaking out on me today,” the tone of her clearly annoyed best friend, engrossed her, she couldn’t help but grin at Hara. She twirled her finger at the level of her temple, “Crazy Jiyeon,” she mouthed at Hara, earning a chuckle from the woman.
“Yes Jiyeon, I hear you, I just stopped over the flower shop,” she sighed exasperatingly. “I’m coming over; I’m just a few blocks away.”
“TCH! You have a wedding planner for Chris sakes, so why in the world are you the one having last minute checks on those things?!” She exclaimed over the phone, as Jieun rushed over to the coffee shop where they decided to meet.
“Because, she’s sick, so I can’t just sit behind, and let her flu ruin my wedding Jiyeon,” she rolled her eyes over the phone, not grasping why people were making a big deal out of Daesom’s sickness.
“Lee Jieun, I know you’re rolling your eyes at me right now,” she snapped. “Just hurry over and let me see you before I hand you over to that creep husband-to-be of yours.”
Jieun laughed over her wit, and just in cue, she opened the door to the coffee shop, and walked inside, to find her best friend sitting in the patio, taking a sip of her cappuccino.
If Jieun was Miss Sunshine, Jiyeon was the counterpart. Dressed in a tight-sleeved lace dress, she had her legs crossed, and her sunglasses covering her eyes. If someone else would’ve made a comment, the first thing that will come out of their mouth is, “She’s scary.” But seeing her best friend approaching, Jiyeon couldn’t even hide her smile of relief.
“Hey, sorry I’m late,” Jieun said, as she pulled a chair, and took a seat across her.
“I already ordered for you,” she said nonchalantly, not even properly greeting her friend. Jiyeon scoffed back at her excuse. “YAH! This was the only instance I could see you, and you deducted 15 minutes from our time,” she glowered as she took off her sunglasses.
“I’m sorry, Jiyeon,” she paused as she took a drink from of her caramel mac
