Jieun couldn’t describe that moment. Those few moments, wherein Kris was basically spilling all the contents of his thoughts for the few days they spent together. He was curious, interested and now… falling for her. Comprehension was out of the option, since Jieun knew she wasn’t even fascinating in the first place. But Kris was different, he saw her. Just like Kai. The flash of reminiscence came, making Jieun look up to him.

Kris was still holding her in place, with his hands grasping her arms. “Just give me a chance IU. Just two days,” he begged her. Kris didn’t understand why he was drawn to her and all he knew was he was very willing to spend every moment they had in Bali before he might lose her forever. Sensing the hesitancy in her eyes, Kris quickly assured, “I swear no surprise kisses this time.”

What came next shock the both of them, Jieun snorted, making Kris smile which then ended up with their laughter booming at the front of their hotel. “Okay,” she said as soon as she recovered from their hilarity. “Just no surprise kisses,” she smirked.

Unable to hide his glee, Kris pulled her close, enclosing IU into his arms. “Thanks IU.” Jieun responded to his hug. “I guess I should’ve also mentioned about surprise hugs,” she said teasingly. With a smile, he answered, “I’m sorry, I just couldn’t help it.”

Though it hurt him to let this moment end, Kris pulled away, but his hands remained at the small of her back. “See at dinner later then?”

IU nodded and their conversation continued as Kris walked IU towards her room, with happiness still surrounding the couple.

Dinner came and unexpectedly the couple had a great time learning things about each other. Jieun learned that Kris was an only child. His parents were divorced when he was in high school, telling that he hasn’t seen them happier. “Separating was the only way to go. I’d rather see them like this, than let themselves kill each other every minute.” Kris didn’t look uncomfortable about his situation, making Jieun also share to him about her deceased parents. She wasn’t really type who opens up so easily, but Kris gives her the feeling of security and ease to take about such. Like any other she met, Kris also muttered the words, I’m sorry when he heard Jieun’s story.

“You know I never really get why people say that every time someone dies,” she said unguardedly, as she forked her fish. “It’s not as if it’s your fault why they died,” she continued.

Surprised at her honesty, Kris gave himself a moment or two to digest what she just said. “I guess they’re not exactly apologizing for that. It’s more like, ‘I’m sorry for your pain. I’m sorry for your tears. I’m sorry for your lost.’ You get?” He asked.

A few minutes of silence took over, as Jieun just nodded in agreement. “Maybe it’s like that then.”

Their topics shifted to another as they talked about their jobs. Jieun was both amazed and delighted when she found out that Kris was also working for the fashion industry. Like her friend, Kris has also worked in Paris for years, under his father’s wing.

“What made you choose that? I mean for someone as straight as you, I would’ve thought you worked as a model or in a corporate or something,” Jieun commented.

He laughed; IU’s honest unfiltered thoughts clearly amused him. “I enjoyed working in the sidelines and the limelight’s something I detested a lot.”

“Oh welcome to my club then,” Jieun chuckled. “I worked for a magazine, but I’m not really the type who attends events…” Then she stopped halfway, looking like she realized something. “But sometimes I do, when my boss threatens me using my salary,” she groaned thinking of the times when Kimbum-ssi did it. Sometimes she forgets that behind that face is an evil boss. Then Kris’ boisterous laugh rang in her ears. “Waeyo?”

“Nothing,” he answered in between breaths. “Your boss’ seems cool,” he commented as he tried to control his laughter. 

Earning a scoff from the lady, she retorted, “You say that now, but when you’ll work with him, you’re going to regret it.” She took another bite of her dinner, unaware how the man looked at him so lovingly with so much adoration. The first time he set his eyes on her he asked himself why? What did he find in her that he founds so interesting? Thinking hard and long he now have an answer. Because IU is being IU. She doesn’t try hard like other women he knew. She skips down being elegant and graceful. Her thoughts are so pure and unguarded. She lets out her own personality. “Waeyo?” She asked worriedly, taking notice of the sudden silence. “Is something wrong?” Kris gave him a smile as he shook his head. “Is your stomach okay?” She asked really seriously making Kris snort.
