After an intensive couple of hours of agony, the contractions were now an endless blur of complete and unbearable pain. I didn’t even think the moans and groans that were escaping my lips were even human any more. Instead I focused on the strong hands that were getting crushed by my smaller paler ones as I tried to ride through it all. They had tried to make me have gas and air but it just made me feel queasy and a bit loopy which wasn’t good when I was trying to concentrate on getting the baby out of my body. Then again I was seriously considering being nauseous if it meant that I didn’t have to feel the pain right now. There are really no words to describe it. I felt the hair being smoothed back from my forehead as the pain briefly lulled, it was soothing and it momentarily distracted me from the midwife staring at my crotch and the fact that the pain in my stomach was merely ebbing as it lowered from its peak but never completely leaving me. Because the baby was so close to arriving, the contractions were just one big long wave of pain that peaked and troughed taking every bit of my energy and my sanity with it. Lips kissed the back of my head as I panted my breaths trying to steady my heart rate but failing.

“You’re doing so well,” a deep voice murmured into my hair causing my heart to miss a beat before resuming its frantic pounding. “I’m so proud of you Bom.” I didn’t get the chance to respond as the midwife grinned from between my legs which would have made me blush had I any dignity left.

“Okay, you’re almost there, on the next one I want to push with everything you have and your baby will be here okay?”  Nodding dumbly, I took a deep breath preparing myself but the gentle slap on my shoulder and the stare from the midwife had me releasing my breath. I had a bad habit of holding my breath nearly every time a contraction hit which apparently reduced the effectiveness of the pushing or some crap like that, I was in too much pain to honestly care about their ‘expert’ opinions. I panted focusing instead on the limp body sprawled across the floor, amusement momentarily taking my mind off of the pain that was going to overcome me any second. Dara had been unfortunate to walk in and catch me in all my glory. Apparently the baby was crowning at that point. Thus she lay sprawled across the floor as the nurses continued to do their own thing. I guess they were used to people fainting all of the time and had just left her there to revive whenever she felt like it.

Turning my head to the monitor beside me, I watched as the line started to elevate and the pain hit me hard and fast, worse than it had been any time before. Crying out I pushed everything I had into the push, my hands crushing Seunghyun’s as I followed my body’s lead and tried to get my baby out. I was giving my guttural cry of pain when Dara lifted her head from the floor. One look in my direction and her face paled and she slumped back down again. I desperately wished I could laugh at her but my mind was filled only with the thoughts of pain. The guttural cry escaping my lips gave out as my whole body relaxed back against Seunghyun. Too exhausted to pay much attention to my surroundings, I was more than surprised when the midwife’s voice reached my ears cutting through my foggy mind. “Congratulations Miss Park, you’ve got yourself a gorgeous baby girl.” I gasp escaped my lips as she tilted the baby up to show me that she was in fact a girl and then brought her closer to us. “Does the dad want to cut the cord?”

I didn’t listen for an answer because I was too entranced by the beautiful baby that was crying softly. Arms reached around me though and I faintly noted the nurse giving Seunghyun instructions on what to do, instead I felt myself falling in love with the little bundle before me. The nurse promptly took her away to make sure she was okay and to weigh her and all that malarkey so I just reveled in the fact that it was all over, at least for now. The midwife was doing some weird massage thing to my stomach which was uncomfortable but Tiffany had informed me was all part of the process. A few minutes later my beautiful baby was laid on my chest and in that moment I had never felt more at peace with myself. Seunghyun rested his chin upon my shoulder, a kiss being placed there before we resumed our silent staring as the baby who was now asleep, a cute little snore escaping her lips.

“You did so good,” Seunghyun informed me softly as his hand reached around me so that he could gently our baby’s cheek. I light chuckle escaped his lips as her tiny little nose scrun
