As soon as I got in the kids were taken off my hands, Minji and Daesung started acting really oddly. When they caught me looking at them strangely, the pair of them fell silent and found excuses to leave the room so in the end I was sat here on the sofa whilst they busied themselves in the other rooms. I was almost grateful when the doorbell rang. Hopping from the seat I peered through the net curtains and saw Tiffany standing on the doorstep so I quickly hurried to answer the door. I don’t get how I moved so fast because with the bulging belly I usually found a lot of things difficult to do but at this moment in time I didn’t care, I just had to get out of the house, it was driving me nuts. Pulling open the door I grinned widely at Tiffany.

“Heyyyyyyyyyyyy Tiffany. You ready to go. That’s great let’s go.” I urged her to step back so that I could exit, throwing hasty goodbye’s over my shoulder before I slammed the door shut. Tiffany frowned at me for a moment before chuckling and leading me back to a sleek black Mercedes that was idling on the driveway. She gestured to the passenger side before climbing into the driver’s seat and shutting the door. I waddled around to the side and pulled it open taking a seat just as Daesung came to the door to inspect what was happening only to throw a wave at us as the car started backing out of the driveway. Well that wasn’t weird at all. “So, are you going to tell me what the hell is going on? Everyone is acting really strangely.” I turned my gaze to Tiffany who just shrugged, her eyes trained straight out of the windscreen.

“What makes you think I know anything?” She replied a few minutes later. Rolling my eyes I turned my gaze away from her, fed up because there was nothing I could think of that all of these people could be conspiring about. The rest of the car journey was pretty dull. It seemed like we hit every bit of traffic on the way back so instead of taking an hour tops, it took us around 2 and a half hours. I was completely knackered by the time we got back and was grateful when I saw the familiar sign for Masquerade. As the car pulled to a stop, I turned my head to look at Tiffany.

“Hey, I just want to say thanks for bringing me back.” I reached for the handle just as Tiffany reached for hers.

“No problem, but you’re not going home yet, Dara asked me to bring you to the restaurant, she doesn’t want you going home alone or something.” I furrowed my brows before sending my suspicious gaze over to her. She just shrugged like she didn’t have a clue either.

“Fine, come on, let’s get this over with, the baby is kicking my bladder in so I really need a pee.” My voice was a grumble as I stared at the front of Masquerade, my feet moving as fast as my swollen ankles would take me. I brightened up when a thought struck me. “Maybe they will have cookies, I really want a cookie.” Tiffany laughed behind me as her shoes clacked against the pavement as she struggled to catch up.

“You move seriously fast for a pregnant woman.” She laughed when she finally managed to match her pace to mine. I just nodded in response as we reached the doors and nodded to the maître D who as usual rushed around the podium to give me a hug, his hand going to my belly just as the energetic little bugger decided to kick. He gasped and stared wide eyed like it was the biggest miracle, I on the other hand rolled my eyes at him and pushed past the hugs and instead hurried through the restaurant towards to the bathroom.

“Damn baby making me need a pee.” I muttered rushing past the tables that had been decorated for some party and ignored the people staring at me even though I was vaguely aware of the fact that I knew some of the faces. I shook my head at the thought, I was a woman on a mission. When I returned from the bathroom, I found that the restaurant was strangely silent, even the clattering from the kitchen had stopped. Tiptoeing down the corridor I peered into the main floor of the restaurant but it was dark and all of the lights had gone out. What the bloody hell is going on? “Hello?” When no response came I stepped further into the room, squinting as I tried to peer through the darkness. I made it a few steps further into the room before I heard scuffling. My head snapped in that direction but I still couldn’t see anything much until the shadow moved. Gasping slightly I took a hesitant step backwards before the lights came on suddenly and blinded me while a cacophony of voice assaulted me from all sides.

“SURPRISE.”

Blinking the room came back into focus and when I truly saw what was in front of me I couldn’t help but feel a bit teary eyed. “You guys.” I cried as I surveyed the restaurant that had been completely transformed. Banners hung from all of the walls and there were even some handmade paper chains in some places, but what made me smile the most was my friends and family who were gathered in front of me, smiling at me whilst the table behind them balanced a precarious
