“Four days!” the blonde bellowed over the phone, talking to her cousin. “It’s been four days since she last talked to me. Like really talked to me.” It was lunch time for her at work, and usually, Tiffany would always be online to accompany her. But lately, the blonde felt like her friend was avoiding her, and she didn’t know why.

“You really haven’t talked for that long?” Hyomin asked.

The blonde sighed. “We did. I’ll say hi and then she’ll ask me how I was doing.”

“Oh?” Hyomin hummed; Jessica could only imagine her cousin raising her brow at her. “So you are talking. What's the big fuss?”

She understood that Hyomin wouldn’t be alarmed; however, it was Tiffany they were talking about. They girl liked to chat even if it was their finals. “You’ve met Tiffany, right? And you’re her friend, right?”

“So?” Hyomin asked nonchalantly.

The blonde groaned; she couldn’t believe her cousin wasn’t getting the picture. “You really think that bubbly girl really settles for just a greeting and a brief conversation?” Jessica remembered how clingy her friend used to be and how much she liked talking about nonsensical things; however, it seemed like that turned cold and the blonde couldn’t help but worry.

“Are you sure you didn’t do anything wrong?” Again, the blonde was irritated by how her cousin was taking the matter lightly. Was her feeling this way just a dramatic reaction? But she really felt uneasy and she didn’t know to whom she could confined.

But she tried her best to recall if she did anything to offend her friend, and there was nothing. She really couldn’t figure out why Tiffany had been very distant lately. And to make matters worst, the blonde had been worried and thinking of instances she may had offended her friend. However, she always come to one conclusion. “No! What the ? How am I supposed to screw up when I’m thousands of miles away?”

“Then maybe she’s really just busy,” Hyomin said nonchalantly.

Maybe she really was just busy spending time with her family and getting all her paperwork ready, and the blonde already thought of this before since the girl was going to New York to fix her scholarship. But even still, Tiffany went to the U.S. for that purpose, so why now? Maybe she would ask her mom how her friend was doing when they meet. But then she realized that might alarm her mother, and she didn’t want to make matters worse. “I guess she really is,” Jessica sounded dejected.

Hyomin took in a deep breath and exhaled. “If you really didn’t do anything, then there’s nothing to worry about, right?”

Frowning, the blonde then said, “True.” But even though she said that, she still couldn’t help but think that she upset Tiffany. Why else would she not talk to Jessica? Getting her emotions mixed up, she then said, “Are we going to the bar tonight?”

“Nah, Sunny’s back in town so I can’t. I promised to take her to dinner.”

“Oh, that’s great then.”

“You can come if y---”

Jessica shook her head as though her cousin could see her. “I’m not about to be the annoying third wheel. I’ll probably have dinner with my dad or see if the Taeyang and Heechul are free.” She wouldn’t be cruel to join her cousin and her girlfriend’s first day again together after Sunny’s vacation. She understood that much.

“You sure?”

“I’m not a kid, Hyomin.” Jessica was going to say more; however, there was a knock and so she looked back only to see her father’s secretary. “I’ll call you later, Hyomin.” She then hung up and looked at the old lady. “Yes?”

“Your father called for you,” she said with a smile on her face.

“Now?” The blonde looked at her food. What must her father want at this time? He would usually be out for a lunch meeting, so this was rare. “Okay,” she said as she put a lid on her food and then throwing it away. She really didn’t have an appetite since she had been worrying about Tiffany. At the beginning of this, Tuesday, she thought that her friend was simply busy spending time with her friends and family, but it was now Friday. She couldn’t spare a moment for Jessica like she used to?

Not liking her thoughts of being needy and clingy, Jessica shook her head and then walked towards her father’s office as she followed his secretary. “Do you know what he wants?” she asked the older woman.

The secretary looked over her shoulder and said, “I honestly don’t know. He was talking about the delinquent files you found with Mister Lee’s signature. So it might be that, but I really don’t know.”

“It’s okay,” the blonde said as she entered her father’s office; the older woman was holding the big, heavy Philippine Mahogany wooden door. “You need something, Dad?” She asked the man who was seated on the executive chair behind an elaborate wooden desk. The blonde’s eyes landed on frames her father had atop the desk - her pictures had always been there. Years ago, she remembered it had their family pictures and her mother’s solo picture; however, ever since the accident she and her father had, causing a turmoil in her family, her mother’s picture was never on there anymore. And this went the same for her mother’s office. It was only filled with the blonde’s pictures from she was a baby to the most recent one.

“Take a seat,” he said as he pointed at the leather chair in front of him. “How’s work?”

The blonde sat on the chair with her back straight. “Really, Dad? You pulled me out off the floor to ask me how’s work? I guess you can say it’s unproductive.” The blonde rolled her eyes at her father. Was she really called in the office for something so petty? She was trying to sort her problems about Tiffany with Hyomin, but she wasn’t able to discuss further because she was called; it turned out it was simply for this.

Her father laughed - this had always been his go-to reaction whenever the blonde was sarcastic. “I’m just worried about you,” he said as he looked her in the eyes. “You’re not staying home and since we have a pending issue with a former manager, I just don’t want you in trouble again.” There was a tint of sadness in her father’s eyes.

The blonde remembered how he cried when she was in the hospital; they were both injured, but it wasn’t life threatening. They both had a lot of cuts and bruises all over their bodies; however, it seemed like both of them were being looked upon by some higher entity as they were both alive after a horrible accident. “Dad, he’s in jail now.” the blonde said as she reached for his hand that was on the desk, trying her best to support her father.

“I know,” he frowned at the girl. “But I still don’t want you to be hurt. So why don’t you go with me to China for my business trip. I’d at least want you to be with me, knowing you’re safe.”

China? What was she going to do in China? She knew that her father was still aware that her mother still blamed her for almost killing their daughter years ago, so the blonde understood why her father worried. Especially now that it seemed like history was repeating itself. But really, the blonde knew she would be just fine even without her parents trying to shield her from the world. Although, a part of her also understood that this was how her parents showed their affection, and she was used to it. “Do I have a choice?”

He shook his head. “It’s either that or you can live with your grandpa and grandma Park. I think that’s not really a choice, per se.”

“In the mountains?!” the blonde exclaimed. There was just no way in hell would she try to live with her retired grandparents for days; she didn’t even want to be there for more than five hours since the signal there was bad. Plus, if the signal was bad, she really wouldn’t be able to talk to Tiffany. So her father spoke the truth when he said she really didn’t have a choice. Although, remembering it now, she did promise to go stargazing with the girl; her family owned a huge lot out in the rural, where her grandparents were staying at. Since Hyomin and Jessica were both their grandchildren, the blonde was sure they would be fine with that camping trip.

“Jessica, I can’t let you be alone especially at your aunt’s house,” her father said. “They wouldn’t have the resources to protect you if he really did something bad.”

She sighed, thinking of how much thing she should bring. She really didn’t have a choice anyway. Her father’s parents were somewhere in the world; she should take note next time. But China? She would be by herself again? Well, whatever. “How long are we going to China for?”

“We’ll be back Wednesday,” he said with a smile on your face. “We leave tonight.”

“Already!? Wow, you really think you can just haul me around; this will cost you a lot, Dad.”

He chuckled. “I figured you’d ask. What do you want now?”

“Shopping, duh!” She winked at him. It had been awhile since she really shopped, and it was just in time for the change of season so why not. Her father was paying anyway.

He nodded. “You need to have a budget though.”

“Budget?” She raised her brow since her father never really set one for her. “I don’t really care. So how much?”

“A dollar every minute you spend with me,” he laughed harder. “We need to spend more quality time together since we’re both so busy.”

“Both so busy?” The blonde crossed her arms as she pouted. “Dad, you’re the only one busy here.”

“So, what? That doesn’t sound so bad. I’ll pay you sixty an hour.”

The blonde shook her head. Sixty an hour? She was making that right now at work, of course that was her father’s personal money. But she still earned it. “Nope.”

“Why not? I think just being there, getting paid that much without doing anything isn’t so bad.” he pointed at the obvious.

“Mom would give me more, Dad. Much, much more.” That was it. Why couldn’t she just go spend more time with her mother in New York. Wouldn’t that be perfect since she would be able to spend her time with her best friend there and Tiffany? The blonde then smiled at her father. “Can I just spend time with Mom?”

“What? No!” Her father was stern. “You spent your spring break with her, so it’s my turn to bond with you.”

“I’ll have dinner with you, I swear,” the blonde was smiling wider.

Her father shook her head. “No, Jessica. You can’t act cute to get your way this time.”

“This is so unfair!” She pouted once again.

“I was kidding about your budget. You can shop until you're happy and you got everything you want,” he said with a smile on his face, thinking that he got this one in the bag.

The blonde shook her head. “Dad,” she whined. “Come on. I wouldn’t even use my credit card you’re paying for. Not even my bank cards!”

“But you’ll use the ones your mom gave you, right?” He crossed his arms, narrowing his gaze on his daughter. Sure, the blonde was thinking of spending her mom’s money, but then at the same time, she also had her own money she saved up for.

“I just want to see my friends,” the blonde said in a low tone, trying her best to act like her father did her wrong. “It’s been awhile since I last saw them so I thought… maybe… you’d let me go since you don’t want me in the office either.”

“But coming with me means you can learn more things about the business, Jessica.”

“But I’m pretty sure you’ll be really busy. If I fly to New York tonight to surprise mom, she’d love you and I both, right?”

Her dad scoffed a laugh. “Your mom?”

“Yeah,” the blonde shrugged. “I’ll even tell her that you suggested I head to see her. Wouldn’t that make things better? She wouldn’t hate you as much.”

“You’re a good negotiator, Lil Jung.”

She smiled at her father. “Right? So, can I go? Please?”

“One condition,” he began as he reached for something in his desk. “You’d have to use this,” he said as he handed over a credit card. “Don’t let your mother pay for anything. She’d end up calling me useless again.”

The blonde laughed as she reached for it. “Sure,” she said as she read her name on the black American Express card. She already had one since her mother gave her one when she moved to her condominium last year. “A centurion card? Sweet!”

“Don’t over spend,” he reminded. “And I heard we’re hosting your classmate, right?”

“How’d you know?” the blonde cocked her head to the side, confused. There was no way in hell her parents actually talked to each other, right? That was just impossible.

“Your mother talked to me,” he said.

“She did?” the blonde sounded doubtful, which her father just laughed at.

“Her secretary to mine.”

“Oh, I see. Yeah. Mom’s company’s sponsoring my friend, Tiffany, remember her?”

He nodded. “The American girl from the pageant, right?” Which the blonde nodded. “You should’ve came to me if you needed to help your friend.”

“Well, Tiffany was already working for the hotel so there was no way I’ll be able to ask you,” she explained nonchalantly. It was true. The reason why she asked her mother was because of the fact that Tiffany already worked for the same company; her friend wouldn’t want to receive the scholarship if it was from her father, and Jessica was sure of this. Tiffany was never the type to simply be comfortable accepting charity from others. Her father nodded, and told Jessica that he was willing to do anything for Jessica’s friend, if the blonde asked. “Thanks, Dad.” The blonde stood up from her seat, walked over to her father, and gave him a hug. He then told her to go back home to pack her things. She should leave tonight, and that would really be his only condition.

That wasn’t the issue since she had her mother’s code anyway, and the front desk of the condominium where her mother lived would give her the code or keys had her mother changed it. “I’ll just go get my things and then head for New York then.”

“You really don’t want to go to China with me? I’ll even send you to Paris to shop this summer if you come with me,” her dad offered, scowling a little. She really wanted to go with her father, but at the same time, she wanted to see what was up with Tiffany; she was unsure if she had done anything to annoy the girl so by surprising her, she couldn’t help but forgive the blonde, right? The blonde really wanted to sort things with Tiffany, and deep down in her heart, deep, deep, deep down that black heart, she really was missing her friend’s company. And two weeks was just too long, especially half of that, she was being ignored.

After talking to her father, the blonde then finished her work quickly and then headed for her home to pack her things. Her father’s secretary booked her a direct flight to New York that was leaving at six at night. As she was in her condominium, packing, she went to the guest room, where there were men working on the renovations. She watched as wires were installed on the ceiling, making her smile as she remembered this surprise for Tiffany. She would love it, right?

Not having enough time to be idling around, the blonde went back to her room to collect her things. She heard her message tone, and so she walked over to her TV stand, where she left it.

Nothing much.

Was a reply from Tiffany when the blonde sent her a message last night of what was Tiffany up to. Not liking this cold demeanor, the blonde then called her friend with her phone, only to be transferred to voicemail, so she called via Skype with her laptop.

“Hi Jessi,” Tiffany said with a smile on her face, looking at her monitor.

“Good thing you actually picked up.” The blonde smiled, hoping her joke wasn’t too much. But then, why should she hide that she felt like Tiffany was ignoring her. This was her character, so there was no way in hell should she be walking on eggshells now. “I feel like you’ve been ignoring me.”

“Don’t say that,” Tiffany started as she had a soft smile on, which irked Jessica since she really felt abandoned the last couple of days. “I’m just hanging out with my friends here.”

Was her trip to New York to see Tiffany worth it? It seemed like the girl was having so much fun without her. Would she even be welcomed to intrude on Tiffany’s vacation? “So you forget about me?” She sounded needy, and the blonde was well aware of that. She couldn’t help it since that was what she felt. If she didn’t voice this out, she knew it would only haunt her. The frown on Tiffany’s face bugged Jessica, so she didn’t even want to push further. She wanted to say more, but she couldn’t let herself be the cause of that frown.

“I haven’t forgotten about you. You’re having fun with Taeyeon and them, and I’m having fun with my friends here, but that doesn’t mean I don’t miss you. Duh, Jessi.”

Well, was everything just in Jessica’s head? But she really felt like there was something off about Tiffany. “Are you sure you’re not upset with me?”

Tiffany giggled. “I’m not. I’ve just been busy. And even if I’m upset with you, what are you going to do about it? You’re too far. You can’t buy me ice cream like last  time,” she said as she laughed.

At least Tiffany finally giggled and was in a good mood; the blonde worried something was bugging her. “Well, if you’re upset with me, I’ll actually fly there just to buy you ice cream,” the blonde said with a grin on her face, imagining how Tiffany would react if they met in New York. Wouldn’t that be amazing, she thought.

“Then I wish I can say I’m upset with you just so you can be here,” Tiffany started with a smile on her face and then continued, “but I can’t say that since I’m not. You didn't do anything bad to me, so there's no point to lying, right?”

“Well, yeah. But are you sure? I’m giving you a chance to see your most awesome friend,” the blonde joked. She really couldn’t wait to see the look on Tiffany’s face if she saw her at that side of the world.

“Stupid, you have to work and you have people there.”

“B--”

But before the blonde could finish her words, Tiffany then said, “I’m not that selfish, you know? Anyway, I need to pack since my flight is in the morning.”

“To New York?” the blonde asked, which Tiffany nodded to. “Who’s picking you up? My mom? I mean, her secretary?” There was just no way her mother would pick Tiffany up since she didn't even do that for Jessica.

“Your mom said someone would be waiting for me at the airport,” Tiffany said.

“I see. Well then, I’ll be the one picking you up here, is that alright?” Jessica asked, pretending they wouldn’t see each other in New York.

Tiffany smiled as she nodded. “Of course. You promised you will, remember?” The blonde nodded, remembering her promise just before the girl left for California. “You wouldn’t break your promise this time around, right?”

“Hey!” The blonde exclaimed. “That was just once. I had a lot of things going on so it really slipped my mind.” The blonde frowned. Was this the reason Tiffany was ignoring her? There just was no way Tiffany could be this be petty; there really just wasn’t any way for that to happen. “Is that why you’re mad at me? I really did mean it when I said sorry.”

Tiffany just giggled. “I’m not mad. I’m just joking. Anyway, I really need to pack since I’ve been out a lot; I haven’t gotten a chance to pack for my trip so I need to rush.”

“Okay,” Jessica said as she waved at her friend. “I miss you, Fany-ah!”

“I miss you too, Jessi.” Tiffany waved her goodbye. “I’ll see you in about a week.”

The screen turned black, Jessica could see herself on the monitor, smiling widely. Next week? It was more like they would see each other tomorrow. The blonde couldn’t wait to see Tiffany’s face when she saw her. So instead of looking like an idiot in front of her monitor, the blonde started to pack so she could go ahead and leave.

There were perks to traveling first class. Always. And the blonde loved the fact that she never traveled in economy before. Despite having a redeye flight, the blonde was able to sleep and was well rested. Her father’s secretary also booked for a chauffeur with a limousine to meet her. Really, her trip was pleasant. She opened the door and then called for her mother with a simple “mom”. She knew her mother was still there since she asked the receptionist. “Mom, I’m home,” she announced again since she didn’t want her mother to think someone intruded in their home through the front door.

As she reached the living room, her mother looked at her, eyes wide open. “Jessi?” she asked in a hushed tone; she removed her glasses that rested on the bridge of her nose and stood up. “What are you doing here?” She quickly rushed to her daughter’s side to give her a welcoming hug.

“Dad said I should spend the weekend here,” the blonde said as she hugged back, wrapping her arms around her mother, as the older Jung showered her cheek with soft kisses. “Mom, stop. That’s gross now,” the blonde joked as she carefully pushed her mother.

“Your father really said you can spend the weekend here?” Her mother raised her brow at Jessica as she crossed her arms on her chest. “He must be going out of the country with one of his girlfriends, that’s why. But who cares?” She embraced Jessica once again. “I’m just happy you’re here!”

“It’s not like you haven’t seen me. And I’m pretty sure you’ll ditch me tomorrow anyway,” the blonde rolled her eyes. This was just something every kid with busy parents were used to, and the blonde understood that. Since she knew her visit was unexpected, she didn’t expect much from her mother since she knew how busy she was. “I’ll be here until Monday.”

“So this is really just for the weekend?” Her mother pushed her carefully to have a better view of her. The blonde simply nodded and so her mother said, “I wonder what your father ate. Did something happen to him? Did some miracle happen for him to be this giving?” The blonde understood bother her parents’ disposition so it was only natural for her to understand what her mother was talking about. She really couldn’t blame her mother since she remembered hearing that her father would do anything to keep Jessica had her mother divorced him. What could her mother do aside from hating her husband? The man was clearly more influential in the business world, and not only that, but her father was the only son of the former supreme court judge. Her mother understood that there was no way in hell would she be granted custody over Mister Jung. However, the blonde always thought that her father only said that out of anger since her mother kept on blaming him for almost killing the blonde despite it being an accident.

“He’s always been nice,” the blonde said with a smile on her face. Even if it was just a little, she would want her father to seem more human in her mother’s eyes so she would try her best to sell her father’s good points. “I mean, he even said to spend the weekend here and spend his money.”

“His money?” Her mother raised her brow. “So he thinks he can just give you money and it’s fine? You better use the card I gave you, okay?”

Maybe that was just the wrong approach. “But he said to not let you pay, and to treat you to whatever you want.”

“Well I don’t need him to buy anything, shop to your heart’s content then. Buy some clothes for Tiffany as a welcome present, okay?” Her mother said in a cheery tone. Speaking of Tiffany, what time would she be arriving later and who would be the one picking her up? “You should buy her things she need for school as well like a laptop and all that.”

The blonde’s parents were always so generous so the blonde was used to this. Last year, they even gave Hyomin a car for her twenty-first birthday so there really wasn’t much to complain about now. Tiffany would just have to get used to how the blonde’s parents show their affection. “Well, if you say so. But what if she refused?”

“Jessica, we never take no for an answer, remember?” Her mother smiled at her. “Let’s go to your room so you can rest as soon as possible.” She held Jessica’s wrist as she led the way to the blonde’s out of the magazine bedroom. For some reason, she liked that her mother had it renovated again since last year since any trace of her depression when she visited vanished. The room was smaller than her room in Seoul, but this was New York. Having a flat this size with four bedrooms was already saying something. Missis Im sure did a good job by using the space essentially.  “I’m heading for work soon since the driver’s waiting for me downstairs already.”

“Mom,” the blonde called as she sat on her bed that was covered with the blue and gray sheets; her hand touching the smooth silk. “What time is Tiffany going to be here?”

“Her flight lands at two o’clock.”

“Can I go pick her up with the driver?”

“I don’t see why not. Does Tiffany know you’re here?” her mother asked; the blonde shook her head. “I see. Then I’ll leave it up to you to show her around, okay?”

The blonde smiled widely. “No problem!”

“Go call Yoona. I’m sure she’ll be ecstatic that you’re here,” her mother said as she gave her a kiss on the forehead and bid her farewell.

****

Having parents that were busy, Jessica and her childhood best friend, Yoona, understood each other ever since then. Actually, the last time they met was a year ago when Jessica was devastated since Taeyeon confessed that she was with Yuri, shattering the blonde’s world. A year later, the blonde waited in a coffee shop just outside their building. She already ordered Yoona’s favorite, which was was a vanilla bean with three pumps of raspberry, making it to a cotton candy flavored drink. The blonde liked sweet things, but her best friend was just at another level.  She looked at the drink in front of her as she waited for her best friend, wondering how the girl could drink this and actually order every time they were at Starbucks.

“Jessica!” her best friend, the girl who was with all smiles wearing a nice, white summer dress, called as she flailed her hand in the air. “I missed you!” she said when she was close enough to give the blonde an embrace.

“I miss you, too!” the blonde said as she rested her chin on the girl’s shoulder, embracing her best friend tighter. “We don’t have enough time since you have summer class today, right?”

“Yeah, I only have fifteen minutes but we can catch up again later or whenever you’re free.” she said as she tightly embraced the blonde, swaying her from left to right in excitement. “What brings you here anyway?” She said as she finally let go, taking her drink from the table, knowing exactly that it was hers, and then occupying the seat in front of Jessica.

“My dad suggested for me to take some time off,” the blonde said.

“Uh-huh,” Yoona giggled, knowing full well that Jessica didn’t exactly tell the truth. “What is this I heard from my dad that you’re helping a girl get a scholarship? What’s that about?” She then raised her brow at Jessica.

The blonde shrugged, not wanting to explain how she first met Tiffany from the restaurant when her friend helped a homeless guy to her trying to make Tiffany’s a living hell when she was a VIP at the latter’s work place to her boyfriend cheating on her and how that opened up to their unique friendship. “Nothing. I just think she deserves a scholarship,” she placed plainly.

“Since when have you become so charitable? Sure, you’re nice and all…” Yoona paused; which the blonde rolled her eyes at. “I mean, you have your moments of being nice. But you never asked your parents for something like this. This is just odd, so I really want to know  who this girl is.”

The blonde understood where Yoona was coming from; they had known each other since they were kids and she thought that Yoona and Hyomin were at the same level when it came to knowing what the blonde was thinking. “I just thought that it would be nice if she can live a stress-free life,” the blonde said with a soft smile on her face, imagining living together in her condominium. At least, every time they were together, the blonde wouldn’t feel alone anymore since Tiffany wouldn’t have to leave her - this was really a good idea the more she think about it.

“Ew,” Yoona looked at her. “Who are you? Why are you being so cute?” She then poked Jessica’s nose with the tip of her index finger. “You’re not the real Jessica.”

The blonde rolled her eyes. Every time she talked about Tiffany or being nice, her friends - even the ones from back home - would try to crack a joke or two. Why? Was it hard to believe that she was being nice? She really had her moments, and it just so happen that this was a little unconventional. “Shut up. You’ll understand me when you meet Tiffany.”

“Tiffany? Wait a minute,” Yoona’s tone was now serious; she set her cup on the table. She narrowed her gaze at Jessica. “Is this the ‘T’ that you fell in love with and left you for another girl? The reason you were so emo last year? Wait, why are you helping this wh0re again?” She looked at the blonde disapprovingly. “I swear to God, Jessica, I will punch you in the face. I can’t believe you’re helping someone like that when you almost killed my liver last year with all our drunken nights! It’s all for nothing?!”

The blonde sighed. She couldn’t blame her best friend for hating on Taeyeon since Yoona saw how Jessica was last year. If she was in Yoona’s shoes, she would probably already punch herself at this point. But this was just a misunderstanding. “That ‘T’ I was referring to before was Taeyeon. Not Tiffany,” the blonde clarified. “So I really hope you get along with this ‘T’ that’s here. And her name’s Tiffany, okay?”

“Oh okay,” Yoona then laughed in relief. Jessica swore Yoona was sometimes bipolar, wondering how she got along with someone like this girl. Sometimes, the blonde pictured that had her parents had another child, she would most likely be just like Yoona - she liked that idea that was why she tolerated the girl’s silliness. “That’s good then. I’ll be good to Tiffany.”

The blonde was actually excited to see a friendship between her best friend and her new roommate. She knew the two would get along since they were both clingy and they liked teasing her. “Anyway, enough talk about Tiffany. How are you?” Jessica asked. She hadn’t been in contact with Yoona since they were both busy, and the latter was the type of person to hate communicating through text or email. She even told Jessica if she wanted to communicate with the girl, they should write letters to each other and the blonde was not going to do that. The only time the blonde sent letters were twice every year: once for Yoona’s birthday and another for Christmas.

The short period of time they had at the coffee shop was spent talking about school work and how Yoona’s life was. Jessica briefly talked about Taeyeon’s confession, which obviously garnered unfavorable responses from Yoona, with the girl calling Taeyeon all sorts of negative names. The blonde explained that she would rather not talk about the girl since it just triggered bitter memories, which Yoona suggested to be replaced by good ones with her new ‘T’; the blonde simply glared at her, saying it was just impossible to dream of liking this ‘T’ that way. But Yoona insisted that she deserved to be happy since her last love was a failure with an undeserving b!tch, as she put it. Actually, there were times that Jessica was completely happy from the last couple of months; she was even smiling sincerely as well so she was fine now. At least she was doing better. It was hard to imagine at first when Yuri and Taeyeon’s relationship just started, but now, the blonde just couldn’t wait to be completely out of that misery. She knew she had one foot out, and with just a little push, she would be away from their clutches.

“I really have to head for class now,” Yoona said as she stood from the seat.

The blonde did the same since she had to pick Tiffany up so the two of them decided to walk out of the coffee shop together. “I’ll see you later, okay? We need to hangout,” the blonde said as she gave Yoona a hug. “Call me after class.” To which Yoona nodded to and bid her farewell as she started to hail for a cab.

****

The blonde waited in the car as the driver went ahead to head inside the baggage claim, holding a sign up for Tiffany. She figured Tiffany would be more surprised if she was just in the car, ending up seated next to each other rather than Jessica holding a sign up with the girl’s name on it. Plus, she didn’t even know how Tiffany would react to her being there since she was still convinced that the girl was upset with her despite not knowing what she possibly could have done. Sighing, she looked at the clock on the dashboard.

There should be enough ice cream in New York city to please the girl, right? Even if Tiffany was telling the truth about the fact that she was just busy with friends, the blonde would still take her to Serendipity 3. Under her mother’s orders, they should shop as well, so why not? She would make this weekend the girl could never forget, she swore to herself.

Hearing the trunk open, the blonde’s stomach turned to knots. She didn’t know why she was anxious, but she was. She closed her eyes and took deep breaths until Tiffany opened the door and got in. Just when she had  climbed in, she looked at Jessica in the eyes, blinking a few times. “Je---Jessi?”

The blonde smiled sheepishly, not knowing how to react. Seeing Tiffany now made her realize how stupid of a surprise this was. Yoona and Hyomin often called her bizarre since her ways were not really what the mass would call the norm. Who would fly halfway around the globe just to surprise a friend? She really thought it was normal, but now that she saw Tiffany’s reaction, she just felt like she really was peculiar in a very bad way.

“Hi?” the blonde greeted awkwardly, not knowing if it came natural or too forced.

“You’re… really here?” Tiffany said as she sat next to the blonde. What had Jessica done? Now, she wouldn’t only seem like she was clingy and needy, she would also seem like a stalker. This was bad. Amidst the blonde’s thoughts, Tiffany then reached in to pull the blonde by the neck, hugging her tight. “Oh my God, I missed you so, so much!” She hugged her tighter and then said, “Since when?”

“I flew in this morning,” Jessica said as she patted Tiffany’s back, trying to tell the girl that the embrace was too tight. “If you hug me tighter than this, I really think we’ll end up in the hospital.”

“Oh,” Tiffany said as she let go of the blonde. She looked at the blonde in the eyes, smiling brightly. “I really can’t believe you’re here.”

The blonde giggled, all her worries slowly vanishing as she saw Tiffany’s demeanor. “I honestly can’t either.” As the driver got in, she then said to him, “Take us to Serendipity, please.”

“You can actually say ‘please’?” Tiffany joked as she buckled her seat belt on.

Jessica raised her brows. “I was raised to have manners.”

“Anyway, what’s Serendipity? Aren’t we supposed to go see your mom first?” She then looked at Jessica. “Or is your mom already there?”

“I need to buy you ice cream, remember?” The blonde looked out the window, not wanting to show Tiffany her face. The latter simply pulled her and gave her a hug, causing Jessica to think again: Why was she here in the first place?

Chapter 17: Actually I'm glad that Taeyeon has the same feelings towards Sica... but the way she's been doing all this time is wrong, and Sica doesn't deserve to be treated like that... so it's better for Sica to move on.
