Chapter 1
When We MetChapter 1
'Will he ever love me?' Taemin looked at his best friend. And though Kai's eyes were fixed on his mobile phone the whole time with a frown, Taemin's were firmly set in the dark pupils of his counterpart.
The two of them sat in their regular café, as they did almost every Friday afternoon after dance practice. Taemin played with the straw of his Coke, but was so dreamily fixated on just that one thought that he had forgotten its purpose.
"This is unbelievable!" Stressed, Kai ran a hand through his silky black hair and snorted. Taemin let go of the straw and formed a small 'O' with his lips. "What happened?" he wanted to know, looking over at Kai curiously.
Kai dropped onto the back of the chair and crossed his arms. As he did so, Taemin noticed Kai's athletic body once more and hoped not to blush. Kai's grey shirt was tight and showed off his light but nicely defined biceps. They had both danced with great passion since their childhood and displayed a slim, well-built physique as a result. But he didn't have to struggle to take his eyes off Kai's muscular body, because his face was at least as beautiful to look at.
Kai had an even complexion, full lips and a beautifully shaped nose. And even though Kai's external attributes were beautiful, they were not the reason why Taemin had such deep feelings for him. Their love for dancing had brought the two of them together quite a few years ago, and so they had been going to the same dance classes since a sweet age of only six.
"I can't do it anymore!" Outraged, Kai looked out the window. "She's driving me crazy!" Taemin sighed barely noticeable. He knew what was coming now. For months Kai had been bugging him about it. Taemin had been happy for his best friend when he had told him earlier this year that he was finally going to date the girl of his dreams.
Of course it hurt him, but he wanted nothing more than to see Kai happy. And if Krystal could do that, then that would be enough for Taemin. But as time went on, it became clear that this relationship wasn't doing Kai any good. The first time, the second time and the third time too, Taemin had listened to Kai's worries, grumblings and anger and had given him advice and support. But when this pattern did not subside, Taemin began to worry. The more he heard from Kai about Krystal, the more certain he became that she was not the one for him. And he knew that if Kai gave him a chance, he wouldn't mess it up. He would treat him the way he deserved. He wouldn't let him doubt. Hadn't he assured him just a few days ago that this time it was really over between him and Krytsal?
"Girls! It's always the same! I just try to get closer to her and she punishes me for it?" Looking for encouragement, Kai looked into Taemins eyes. "Some people might want to do something else first before committing to a relationship completely." He tried to calm him down a little. He hoped Kai would understand what he was trying to say. Krystal wasn't ready yet, so he should stop chasing after her. Unlike Taemin. He was ready for a committed relationship. A relationship that had a future.
