The BabysitterYou know that feeling when you know you're witnessing something that is about to go horribly wrong? When you know you should make some attempt to prevent the incoming disaster, but every bone in your body is refusing to move?
This is how Naeun feels as she's dragged across the field to meet Hayoung and Joy.
The couple is laughing together as they enjoy snowcones, a sight that only makes Naeun even less willing to come clean at that very moment. She feels a twinge of guilt about interrupting them, especially because it was something that could just as easily be solved over text. However, as true as that is, she knows she'd only keep making excuses if left to resolve this on her own. Taking care of Hyewon should be her primary focus, which meant not dumping her responsibilities on Chorong to avoid conflict.
Granted, this "conflict" exists because somebody took a child's innocent words too seriously. Naeun reminds herself in annoyance.
As they get closer, Naeun sees as Sooyoung's eyes lock onto her first, an irritated frown forming on the woman's face. Hayoung turns next, her happy smile turning to a confused, then surprised, expression.
Naeun feels her stomach lurch.
"Hello," Namjoo says when they reach the pair. "My name is Namjoo and this is my friend Naeun." Naeun, who was in the middle of a poor attempt at being invisible, is quickly pulled next to Namjoo. Naeun's lips tighten and she avoids looking in Hayoung and Joy's direction, now feeling a mix of pressure and embarrassment as everyone's eyes land on her. "I think there's been a misunderstanding between you guys and, as her friend, it wouldn't be right for me to just let it continue." Namjoo pouts. "So I'm asking that you guys give her a chance to e
