TWELVE
C.E.O.Jessica felt silly taking hours to find the right dress to wear tonight. It wasn’t like she was on a date and this bar wasn’t fancy enough for a black $10,000 Oscar de la Renta dress. Yet, Jessica put in that extra effort to look absolutely stunning for the girl walking in right now in a breathtaking gold Marc Jacobs blazer. It was like the other girl looked effortlessly amazing, even if she just stepped out of the office.
Jessica assumed she got Taeyeon’s attention because she saw Taeyeon stop for a few seconds just looking at her before shaking her head and moving towards her, “I am sorry…should I have dressed differently?”
Jessica motioned Taeyeon to have a seat, “No. I think you look amazing, but most of my past memories of you are PJs so that blazer is a huge improvement.”
Taeyeon chuckled, loving the slight jab, “Sooyoung picked out my wardrobe actually. There is no way I would have decided on something like this myself.”
Jessica nodded along, “Sooyoung has good taste and she is right to put you in something like Marc Jacobs that asserts your power as a CEO.”
Taeyeon cleared , “About that…”
Jessica put her hand up to stop her, “I know that is why you came, but how about we enjoy the evening first? I hope your tastes haven’t changed. I ordered you the special tonight and I know your alcohol tolerance is low but I thought why not have some champagne to toast your success in the end.”
“Jessica…” Taeyeon said seriously, “We really need to talk about…”
Jessica poured a glass of champagne and gave it to Taeyeon, “You are killing the mood. Here have some.”
“Jessica…” Taeyeon pleaded.
Jessica shook her head low before looking up at Taeyeon with tears in her eyes, “Can’t you see I am trying to enjoy one last happy moment?” Getting up, Jessica cleared , “Excuse me, but I need to freshen up.”
Taeyeon felt that knot in her stomach grow larger as she reached up for Jessica but Jessica shrugged her off and disappeared into the ladies room. Raking her fingers through her hair, Taeyeon huffed in frustration. She needed to talk to Jessica but it is clear that the drinks, the food, the clothes, and this goddamned amazing city view was used as a distraction. Looks like a perfect place for a date not a business meeting. What was Jessica trying to do?
