“Wait, I think I remember this place.”
Mark and Youra smiled at each other before looking back in front again. The latter took a right turn and slowed down in front of a school.
“Hey, this is your elementary school!” Jackson said a bit too loudly as he recognised the building. He got out of the car and stood on the sidewalk, watching as the younger kids played in the playground and the older kids chatted. “I remember always being jealous you guys got to go here together.”
Mark and Youra got out of the car and stood by him. “Funny, we were jealous of you. I mean, you got to eat baozi almost every day after school.”
Jackson waved his hand in dismissal. “That stall got boring after going there only twice, trust me you weren’t missing out on anything. I on the other hand,” Jackson sighed. “I missed out on the American childhood.”
“Hey man, you still went to an international school there. Oh, remember that American you dated there?” Mark asked as he tried to think of her name. “Her name started with an A, didn’t it? Adr-” He stopped and cleared his throat when he remembered that Jackson had never told Youra about the American girl. He had worried that she would disapprove and ended up telling only Mark.
Stupid thought to say the least, considering how Youra was the one helping him in all his relationships, what with her being the only female in the trio.
Youra put her hands on her hips and raised an eyebrow. “And why is this the first I’m hearing of this American girl whose name starts with A?”
Mark and Jackson looked at each other before chuckling nervously. Jackson whispered something to Mark and the two of them ran away as Youra chased behind them.
The children in the playground paused and watched as three adults screamed and ran around, not really looking their age at all. A few looked at each other in shock while some laughed in amusement.
“Yah! Get back here, you two!”
She eventually caught up to them when Jackson and Mark started slowing down. She would have hit them but she was too busy trying to catch her breath, as were the other two.
