Chapter 26
Since You've Been Gone2 years later
“Stop peeking!” Youra whined as she moved away from Mark. “Continue writing.”
You know how people say ‘Where have you been all my life?’, I can’t really say that, because you’ve been by my side all along.
“I just want to see a little!” Mark tried to reason, although he knew there was no way Youra would relent. “Come on.”
Youra looked at her piece of paper and back at her fiancée before sighing. “Fine.”
Mark drew his brows together. “That’s it? Well, that was easy.” Mark moved forward to read when Youra turned the paper over and laughed. “Psych, er! You really thought I would let you read my wedding vows? Ha!”
Mark shook his head. “Should have known.” He looked at her paper and smiled. “I can still sort of read it.”
Thank you for all the times you stuck around though. There were times when I thought that my life was pretty much over, times where even getting out of bed was a struggle, but you stood by me, without a complaint.
“What?” Youra hugged the paper to her chest, making Mark laugh.
“Now who’s the er?”
She rolled her eyes and moved further away. “Get lost, Tuan.”
The odd idea of writing their wedding vows in front of each other a week before the wedding occurred them to yesterday, when they were on a video call with Jackson, who had appointed himself as their wedding planner ever since Mark had proposed.
Jackson had asked about whether they were done with their vows and when met with the answer of no, immediately started fussing over how that should have been the first thing they did as an engaged couple.
Mark and Youra had written him off in the moment but in the end decided to finish it the next day, not knowing however that writing vows in front of each other would turn out to be such a hassle.
“Are you talking about that bear story? I hope you aren’t. Wasn’t my proudest moment.”
