These are the times when she felt most helpless. She didn’t know how to comfort him. It would have been easier to do in person, because then you just don’t need to say anything and your presence alone can speak for you. But that is not possible now. It was not possible the last time too. She hoped that her presence would comfort him but if a rumor about her seeing him would come out, then that would be a bigger scandal in itself. And she knew that’s the last thing he needed right now.

She sent him a message an hour ago, right after she heard about the news. She didn’t really know what to say. But she hasn’t heard back from him since. Maybe he’s busy trying to fight the fire.

Three hours later and she still hasn’t heard from him. She’s getting worried.

That’s a relief. He hasn’t answered my message I sent hours ago.

He was called to a meeting and I think he turned off his phone because it blew up with calls and messages and notifications.
