Chapter 13
Untitled, 1990"What are you smiling at?" Yoona tried to take a peek at Jiyong's phone.
The next thing both of them did after entering the venue was to get changed. They parted ways and decided to meet back at the waiting area. Since it was a rural area compared to those water theme parks and the fact that it was currently in the midst of winter, there were almost no customers around except for both of them.
The moment Yoona returned, all she saw was Jiyong smiling at his phone. She got curious and tried to see who the text was from but Jiyong was quick enough to pull his phone away.
"N-Nothing!" Jiyong smiled nervously.
If Yoona were to see this, not only would Youngbae be in trouble, he would be too!
"Let's go!" Jiyong raised his voice a little, trying to divert her attention.
Yoona did not probe further and followed behind Jiyong, heading to the first activity. Even though both of them weren't wearing any mask, none of the staff could recognize them much to their relief. The instructor went through the safety precautions while handing them each a lifeguard jacket to put on. He then led them to do some simple stretching for warm-ups before getting them into the equipment.
The activity that they got on was water tubing, where both of them would have to lie on their stomach while grabbing onto the grips so as to make sure that they wouldn't fall off.
Yoona seemed a little nervous as she got on the ride. Jiyong held her hands and helped her onto the ride. Yoona mouthed a 'thank you' before lying on her stomach, gripping onto the grips tightly.
"Yah, why not we place a bet? The first person who flies off the tube first will have to grant the winner a wish!" Jiyong asked.
More than a bet, Jiyong was trying to divert Yoona's attention to make her less nervous about the ride. Yoona immediately gave a scowl and rolled her eyes at him.
"Of course you would win!" Yoona wasn't happy with the bet.
"You'd never know! I might be the first to fall off!"
"Liar! I saw the Infinity Challenge broadcast when you, Youngbae oppa, and Kwanghee-sshi got onto this ride! You and Youngbae oppa didn't fall off at all!"
"That's because Kwanghee was too weak! He screamed for the entire ride, I thought I was going deaf!" Jiyong rebutted.
Even before Yoona could reject the idea, the boat started its engine and it began dragging both of them behind it.
"It's a deal!" Jiyong quickly shouted and there was no chance for Yoona to rebut.
The ride slowly sped up and Yoona was screaming at the highest octave that she could hit. Even though Jiyong said that Kwanghee's screams was turning him deaf but for Yoon's case, he thought it was cute.
In the end, it was within prediction that Yoona lost the bet, though she probably held much longer than Kwanghee did. The first time when Yoona practically flew off the tube, considering how light she weighs, Jiyong was looking at her, a face full of concern. He knew Yoona was scared of water but he was busy poking her, challenging her to make sure that she'd come along on this trip.
However, all he received back was a glare from Yoona when she floated to the water surface. That was when Jiyong knew she was perfectly fine and couldn't help but let out a burst of hearty laughters.
Just like this, they went for a few more rounds and it was always Yoona who fell off the tube. Jiyong did 'accidentally' let go of the grip, falling into the water during the last round, trying to make Yoona feel better. Yoona totally saw through his act, rolling her eyes when she got off the ride.
Yoona wasn't happy that she had lost the bet and decided to start another one.
"Let's try wakeboarding! I'm pretty confident that I'm better at that!"
It was once in a while where Yoona showed her childish side and Jiyong just shrugged his shoulders, following behind.
"What are we betting on this time around?" Jiyong asked while Yoona was getting onto the equipment.
"Same as before, granting the winner a wish!"
"Deal," Jiyong chuckled. "Don't be a sore loser if you lose this time around too~"
"I won't! Because I'd definitely win. You might have advantages over other stuff, but when it comes to balancing, you definitely can't win me."
Looking at how confident Yoona was, Jiyong was slightly hesitating on whether he should pretend that he couldn't do it even if he could. He felt bad bursting her little bubble and at the same time curious about what she would want him to grant if she were to win.
Like what Yoona claimed, compared to water tubing, she was way better in wakeboarding. It was probably due to her sense of balancing, thanks to the years of dance training. Even the trainer was praising her that she did really well for a first-timer. Instead of focusing on the bet, she was having lots of fun. It's been a while since she got to come out and played till her heart's content. Jiyong was at the side, cheering for her and not forgetting to help her take lots of pictures.
Jiyong too, was definitely enjoying himself. He would never have imagined himself out at such a location during this time, let alone with Yoona. Both of them took turns and unknowingly it was almost sunset. Yoona hopped off from the boat, and began to look at Jiyong with that pair of doe eyes, gleaming with excitement.
"Oppa! You'd need to grant me a wish!" Yoona was totally in a good mood.
"Don't forget you owe me one too!" Jiyong pinched her cheeks cutely.
"M-Mwuh? What are you talking about?" Yoona's eyes widened with feigned shock. "What did I owe you? I don't know~"
Yoona happily made her way to the changing room, totally ignoring Jiyong who was shouting behind her.
"Yah! Im Yoona!"
The important question was; so did Jiyong lose to Yoona on purpose?
✾✽✾✽✾✽
"Yah," Yoona got into the passenger seat and realized something was amiss. "Tell me the truth."
"What are you talking about?" Jiyong raised his brows and looked at her confusingly; there was no start and ending to her question.
"You didn't lose to me on purpose, did you?" Yoona put on the seatbelt and eyed at him dangerously.
"So you were thinking about this all along?" Jiyong chuckled. "Why would I?"
"Huh?" Now it was Yoona's turn to get confused since she wasn't getting his replies.
"Why would I lose to you on purpose? You think about it, if I were to win for both games, you'd need to grant me 2 wishes! What a deal!" Jiyong said it nonchalantly as he focused on the road.
