Part-time Devil
The devil watch in amusement as the girl in front of him was still working effortlessly off the clock. She took another sip of coffee before typing away, their meeting notes he assumed.
“As stated, I’d like to know your daily schedule just so I can coordinate accordingly,” she spoke without even looking at him.
Baekhyun rested his chin on one hand while continuing to observe her actions. Nothing much to see, to be quite honest. She was simply unfiltered.
Aera looked up from her laptop, realizing that her boss had not spoken in a while.
“Am I boring you?” she asked shamelessly.
Baekhyun quickly nodded.
“Sorry…we can pick this up tomorrow,” she suggested as she started to pack up.
“Shin Aera,” he finally spoke.
“Yes?” she turned to face him.
“Do you want anything in life?” he asked her, hoping to lure her into making a deal with him.
Aera took a few seconds before shaking her head.
“If I want it then I can’t have it,” she smiled.
Interesting analogy, he thought.
“You wanted a promotion though,” he countered.
“Absolutely not, I did not want a promotion. It was quite overdue and I definitely deserved it,” she smiled proudly.
Baekhyun laughed at her overgrowing confidence.
“I rather know for sure that I can have it instead of wasting my time..wanting,” she explained.
They called for the bill, deciding to end their short meeting. It was also starting to get a little bit too crowed in the small shop. The server rushed over with the bill in his hand before setting it down on their table. His momentum and the state of urgency to move created a messy aftermath.
“Thank yo-“ he gasped as his hand knocked Aera’s coffee off the table.
The mug shattered on the ground. To her dismay, she had to wear a dress today, out of all days. Aera stood up from her seat instinctively to avoid the sharp shards. Unfortunately, her reflex was not fast enough to avoid the shatters.
“Miss, I am so sorry!” the server anxiously apologized.
