Part-time Devil
Baekhyun tapped his pen anxiously on his desk. His eyes traveled back and forth to the piece of note in the trash. He sighed, snatching the note back to reconsider. He thought about it and maybe having an assistant will help him track what the devil was really up to. It bothered him that he could not remember a single detail from last night.
“I have a job offer for you,” he suddenly declared.
Aera blinked in surprise. Baekhyun observed the oblivious girl in front of him. What was so special about her, she just seemed…plain.
“Let’s talk in my office,” her team manager suggested, leading the two into a room.
“I want you to be my personal assistant,” he explained.
Aera shook her head, “Mr. Byun, that was not the position that I was seeking. My skills are strictly related to marketing and finance only. I apologize, I may not have been so clear last night-“
“Last night?” Baekhyun interrupted.
She nodded slowly, “Yes..”
“What happened last night?” he asked eagerly.
Aera and her team leader eyed each other. This is going to be such a bad misunderstanding, she cried mentally.
“We had a professional discussion about a possible promotion, that was it!” she spoke as she glanced over at her team leader once more.
Baekhyun noticed her discomfort. He swiftly turned his head over to her team leader.
“You can leave now,” he simply said as he sent her away.
The team leader gave Aera a disapproving look before obeying his order. Baekhyun stood up as soon as the team leader disappeared. He made his way towards the blinds, shutting each one of them. The room was now completely witness-free. Baekhyun stood in front of her, kneeling down with one knee just enough to meet her eye level. Aera gulped, unable to read his expression. She pushed the revolving chair with her feet gradually to widen their gap. The CEO quickly placed one hand behind her chair to completely stop her movement.
“What happened last night?” he repeated, emphasizing each words this time.
“We had a simple discussion. I believe there was a miscommunication, but that was it. You said something inappropriate and I made my statement,” she explained.
“Was there something weird about me?” he continued to instigate her.
Her eyes wondered off to his groomed hair.
