Part-time Devil
Aera made it to the venue just in time before the guests arrived. She helped coordinated the finishing touches while guests and their plus-ones began filling the place. Baekhyun and Sehun arrived together as the two were the main donors.
“Surprised to see you here,” Sehun placed an arm around the devil’s shoulder.
Baekhyun shrugged his arm off, walking away without saying another word. He never liked their initial meeting, something always felt off about that guy. Aera spotted her boss in the crowd, pushing her way through to get to him. After running around and trying to keep up with everything, the biggest challenge was just right in front of her.
“Are you ready?” she gently slapped his arm to grab his attention.
The devil froze, taken back by the beauty before him. She always had a certain charm in her, but charming can’t be used to describe how mesmerizing she looked tonight. Her deep scarlet gown perfectly hugged every inch of her body while the chiffon skirt flowed effortlessly along the marbled floor. It was so simple, yet quite breathtakingly elegant.
“Ready?” she repeated.
He nodded without much thought, part of him still stunned. She then took his arm out and hooked it with her own. The devil followed her lead as she took him around the floor to meet with his investors. Aera smiled and chatted with everyone while making sure that she filled him in with the necessary details first before speaking. He grew more intrigued as the night deepened. This was by far, the longest human interaction that he ever had inside a single vessel.
The pair managed to get through most of the investors without much suspicion. They were also fortunate enough to have Sehun step in to do the main speech, a last minute improvisation by the human Baekhyun. He thought of the idea to ask Sehun for a favor prior to the event, since he knew he won’t be able to deliver his speech.
“And that should be the end of it,” Aera sighed in relief. They were finally wrapping up the event soon. After torturing herself for the past few days to perfect the performance, all she wanted to do was to pass out on her bed for the weekend.
