“I fit in your sweatpants.” Eunha frowned at Minseok. “You’re too skinny.”

“You’re just jealous of my body.” Minseok rolled his eyes, sinking into the sofa in his office.

Before Eunha could make a comeback, the door of the office opened and Junmyeon stepped in, carrying a bag of food.

“Good, fatten him up.” Eunha nodded in approval.

Junmyeon stared at the girl in puzzlement, utterly confused by what her statement was supposed to mean as he joined Minseok on the sofa and took the food out of the bag.

“Ignore her,” Minseok sniggered. “She has a bad habit of living life at her own pace.”

“You’re just too slow,” Eunha hummed, sitting down on the leather chair behind Minseok’s desk.

“Join us.” Junmyeon motioned towards Eunha. “I bought enough for all of us.”

Eunha’s eyes darted between Junmyeon and the piping hot bowl of tteokbeokki standing proudly in the middle of the coffee table. After a brief moment of contemplation, she used her feet to drag the chair she was sitting on towards the food, earning a look of disapproval from Minseok.

“You’re going to scratch the floor.”

Giving him a flat stare. Eunha ignored the male and reached for a pair of chopsticks instead.

“Thanks for the food,” Eunha hummed, chewing on a piece of rice cake and melting at the sweet and spicy flavour kicking around in .

“About what happened earlier in the ER.” Junmyeon cleared his throat, giving Eunha a soft smile. “I apologise for my outburst, it was unprofessional of me.”

“But…?” Eunha stared at Junmyeon while raising an eyebrow at him.

Junmyeon had to bite his tongue to hold back from snapping at the girl due to the haughty expression on her face. Inhaling deeply, Junmyeon recollected himself and spoke again in a calm and collected tone.

“But you aren’t a member of the medical staff here and there are procedures that must be followed.”

“I understand where you are coming from. There is a strict pipeline and procedures that large hospitals must follow in order to avoid errors and medical malpractice,” Eunha interrupted, putting down her chopsticks. “However as an ER doctor you should know how important it is to not waste even one second on redundant steps. I stand behind my actions and will accept whatever punishment. Either way, I saved the patient and that is a fact.”

Minseok tensed upon seeing the vein popping out from Junmyeon’s neck. Minseok was not going to admit it, but he was low key impressed at how easily Eunha had managed to raffle Junmyeon’s feathers. Having been his best friend for years, Minseok knew how kind and patient Junmyeon was — that was his biggest virtue and how he earned the nickname Angel amongst the patients and staff. Eunha however, was easily shooting out verbal darts that struck Junmyeon’s nerves.

“No one else saw what Eunha did apart from you anyway,” Minseok intervened, patting Junmyeon’s shoulder. “And she’s officially a member of the hospital from today onwards so we won’t have such issues again, right Eunha?”

Leaning back against the chair, Eunha did not nod nor shake her head. Instead she kept her gaze locked on Junmyeon, as if purposefully trying to rile him up. Clenching his fists, Junmyeon took in a deep breath, refusing to the girl get under his skin so easily.
