“Miseok…” Eunha called out for the male, a light trepidation in her voice. “Is the pancake mix supposed to break out into bubbles the moment it hits the pan?”

“What do you mean break out into bubbles?” Minseok exclaimed, pushing Eunha aside. “You know what, just stay seated at the table. You trying to help out is just making things worse.”

“You’re the one who demanded I help out more in the kitchen,” Eunha grumbled while shuffling towards the kitchen table. “Why are you insisting on having brunch anyway?

“Because I want to pamper myself once in a while,” Minseok argued back while trying to salvage the pancake. “Clearly I overestimated your skills in the kitchen.”

“We have a rare day off, the right thing to do is to sleep in late,” Eunha huffed, planting her chin on the table.

“You had a day off just a couple of days ago,” Minseok replied as he masterfully flipped a pancake.

“That doesn’t count.” Eunha shook her head even though Minseok could not see her. “You made me go to the hospital even though I was hangover and then the chief saw me and made me do loads of paperwork.”

“You should’ve done a better job at hiding then.” Minseok smirked, showing no pity for the girl.

“Blame it on Junmyeon.” Eunha pouted. “The chief was looking for Junmyeon and Chanyeol told him he was in my office. Wait. In this case it’s Chanyeol’s fault.”

Eunha’s face scrunched together as she tried to sort out her thoughts and allocate the blame onto the right person. Eventually, she mentally settled to blame it on both males.

“Stop blaming it on other people,” Minseok chided while he brought the food over to the table. “It’s probably karma for always teasing Junmyeon and purposefully annoying him.”

“I don’t purposefully do that.” Eunha frowned, stabbing a piece of bacon with her fork.

Minseok gave her a flat stare as he filled her glass with freshly squeezed orange juice and Eunha rolled her eyes before quietly adding a few more words to her earlier statement.

“Not always…” Clucking her tongue, Eunha lifted her chin in a haughty manner before continuing. “I might stop if he stops being such a mother hen.”

“That’s never going to happen.” Minseok shook his head while sighing in exasperation. “So just cut him some slack.”

“Then we’re at a stalemate.”

The two started eating in silence, the sound of cutlery filling the room. Suddenly Minseok’s eyes widened as though hit with an unexpected realisation and he snapped his head in Eunha’s direction.

“Junmyeon was in your office?”

Eunha stopped chewing and slowly nodded in response.

“Just you and him? Minseok kept asking.

Seeing Eunha nod again, Minseok lost interest in his food and leaned closer to her.

“You guys didn’t argue?”

“He brought me food. Ever heard of not biting the hand that feeds you?” Eunha replied, giving Minseok a ‘duh’ look.

Minseok balked at the new information. Dropping his cutlery, the male opened and closed his mouth repeatedly without uttering any sound. Eunha arched an eyebrow, leaning away from him as he was behaving too weirdly even for her standards. She kept eating her food, but eventually his reaction started irking her and thus she picked a piece of grape and threw it into Minseok’s mouth, almost making him choke.

“What about Yixing?” Minseok managed to ask once he recovered.

Eunha stopped mid-chew, staring at the male in confusion.

“What about him?”

“You went on a date with him,” Minseok stated.

“Yes I did.” Eunha nodded.

“You came back drunk.” Minseok added.

“Nothing happened.” Eunha frowned, suddenly feeling defensive.

“I wasn’t implying anything happened.” Minseok waved his hands around as if trying to clear the air. “I’m just curious how things will… develop.”

“How am I suppose to know,” Eunha snorted, no longer interested in the conversation.

Minseok however had no intention of letting her go so easily, especially not when he had finally managed to grasp onto something that peaked his interest. Thus he persisted with his questioning.

“You seriously haven’t had any extra thoughts towards Yixing?”

“Now that you mention it…” Eunha contemplated deeply as Minseok stared at her with curiosity. “…no.”

“Oh come on!” Minseok exclaimed in dissatisfaction. “There has to be something more. The guy’s clearly into you.”

“I guess I’ve been too busy to give it much thought.” Eunha shrugged her shoulders. “I’m not even sure I’m at a stage in life where I can afford being in a relationship. It feels like such a luxury. Plus, for all you know Yixing might be after me purely due to my connection with the hospital.”
