"Rein, you will become the heiress of my company."

 

Those words linger inside my mind. Like how did that happen when I am an orphan?! 

 

[Flashback and Rein’s POV] 

 

I am Fukuyama Rein, I dwell in a small apartment at the center of the busy city of Tokyo. Currently, I do part time jobs for me to survive everyday living. I am now on my way to one of my part time jobs when I saw group of men who are harassing two girls. 

 

“You two seemed lost. You should come with us then. We will give you foods and shelter.” said one of the guys. He seemed like the boss because of those thick gold rings on his fat fingers and thick gold necklace which is struggling to embrace his almost disappearing neck. What a typical look of a maniac. 

“Boss is right we will not harm you, ne?” smirked the lizard-looking one which earned a nod from the other insect-looking guys. 

 

I looked at the two girls who are now cornered by those men. They are terribly shaking. 

 

“Let us go! We don’t want to go with you!” shouted the tall girl while embracing the small girl in eyeglasses that is with her. She tried to sound brave but the trembling in her voice is noticeable. 

“Trying to act tough, eh? Just come with us and I promise that you two won’t get hurt.” their boss said again as they inched toward the girls. 

“Stay away from us!” said the tall girl as she tried to push the fat boss away. 

“You’re getting on my nerves already!” shouted the boss as he slapped the tall girl which made her fall from her place. 

“Neechan!” shouted the small girl who is with her. So they’re sisters. 

“Stop playing hard to get eh! Boys, you know what to do.” smirked their boss 

 

His men tried to get near the girls when they felt the stones which I threw that landed on their foreheads. 

 

“What the--” uttered one of the men as he holds onto his forehead and was surprised to see his forehead bleeding. 

“Who the hell did that?!” exclaimed the other guy and they all looked at my direction, “So you’re the one who did this?! Didn’t your parents tell you that you should not meddle with other people’s business?!” shouted their boss as they all looked at me, enraged. 

“Gomen, I don’t have any parents that will tell me that. But I had an ojiichan who told me not to stay still if you see people who are in need of help.” I replied as I crack my neck. 

“You’re trying to act tough as well? Are you not taking us seriously?” exclaimed one of the men 

“Looks like she wants to see what we can do. Don’t underestimate us. We won’t let you go so easily just because you’re a girl. As for you two, look closely on what we will do with this girl. You might end up like her if you don’t do what we say.” said their boss as she looks at the two girls. 

“Stop the chatter and show me what you got. I still need to go to my part time job.” I yawned and with that, all the men launched forward to me at the same time. 

 

I evaded their attacks while kicking and punching them. I also made one of the men like a golf club and swing him by the leg as he hit the other men. Now it’s their fatty boss who I need to deal with. 

“YOU! Who are you?!” shouted their boss as he pointed a gun straight at me. 

“Eh? Using a weapon? I thought we’ll do it with bare hands. If I know, I should’ve brought my bat with barbwire with me.” I smirked at him 

“Urusai!” said the boss as he shoots at me. 

 

“NO!” shouted both the girls as they look at us. 

 

“You’re quite slow ne, Mr. Fatty?” I smirked as I hold his arm around his neck and the gun shot went at the old mattress which is beside the garbage can. “I think I’ll be getting this.” I said as I get the gun and twisted his arm a little more. 

“ITTAI!” the fatty boss shouted in pain and with that, I hit him with the gun by the nape making him pass out. 

 

“You two ok?” I asked as I look at the girls who are still trembling in fear. 

“A..arigatou.” said the tall girl as I noticed the blood at the side of . Must've been because of the slap of the fatty. 

“Who are you?” said her imouto 

“Before we introduce ourselves, let’s get out of here first.” I said as we went away from that alley, called the police and went at the convenience store to grab something to eat. 

 

“Here.” I said as I give an onigiri to the both of them. “Gomen ne, I don’t have much money to buy other foods.” I laughed and scratched the back of my head. 

“Arigatou. You don’t have to do this. You already saved us, that alone is a big help for us.” said the tall girl as she looked delighted at the sight of the onigiri. 

“Iie. Daijoubu. You two must’ve been scared from what happened. By the way, what are you two doing at that alley? That’s one of the dangerous places here in Tokyo. Many gangs hide there especially at night because it is very dark there and there are no CCTV nearby.” I said as I munch on my onigiri 

“Let us introduce ourselves first. I am Sugimoto Satomi and this is Sugimoto Chiaki. We just came here to Tokyo now so we are not familiar with the places here. We just walked and walked to where our feet would bring us.” explained Satomi 

“I’m Fukuyama Rein. So, where did you two came from and what are you doing here in Tokyo?” I asked 

“Well, we escaped from the orphanage we’re in.” Chiaki finally spoke 

“Doue?” I asked confusedly 

“We don’t want there. They never prioritize us, orphans at that orphanage. They are just using us to gain donations which we never felt. All the donations are automatically directed straight in the pockets of the owner of the orphanage.” explained Satomi 

“Geez. You two must’ve had a hard time in that orphanage ne.” I said 

“Hai. They let us do all the chores. Our meals are in small rations and we are not allowed to get more foods even if we are still hungry. Sometimes, they let us eat foods that will be expired the next day. They never treated us good.” said Chiaki 

“What kind of orphanage is that?! Geez!” I exclaimed as I banged the table 

“That’s why we decided to escape. Good thing we kept the money which we got from one of the sponsors of our orphanage last Christmas and used that to buy train tickets, that’s why we ended here in Tokyo. That’s all the money we had. We just want to stay away from that place and start a new life.” said Satomi 

“Ne, if you want, you can stay with me. But I must warn you, my place is small only.” I laughed 

“Ehh? You would...you would do that?” said Satomi in amusement 

“Demo, we have no money to pay you for the rent.” said Chiaki 

“Daijoubu, I got part time jobs to pay for the rent.” I said 

“I know it is too much for us to stay with you but we don’t have anywhere else to stay. We don’t want to dwell outside because we don’t know what danger we might encounter here in Tokyo. Thank you for asking us to stay with you. We promise that tomorrow, we will find a part time job to help you with the rent and other bills.” said Satomi as she bowed at me 

“Oi! No need to bow. I only do the right thing to do.” I smiled 

 

After eating, I took them to my apartment. 

 

“This is my apartment. I am sorry this is a bit cramped and dirty.” I chuckled in embarrassment as I show them my apartment which had packs of chips and cookies scattered on the floor 

“Iie. Daijoubu.” smiled Satomi 

“Anooo, I must go first to my part time job. I'm sorry I have to leave you two here.” I said and bid them goodbye 

 

After I finished with my part time job, I bought foods for the three of us and head straight home. I was surprised to what I saw after I went inside my apartment. 

 

“Nani?” I uttered and looked around as I saw my apartment neatly arranged. I had to double check the apartment number to make sure I am at the right unit. 

“Gomen, we touched your things. We just arranged your stuffs for you, it’s the least we can do for staying here.” said Satomi 

“Iie. It's fine ne. You did a good job. It's embarrassing you have to organize my stuff for me.” I chuckled in embarrassment which earned a giggle from the both of them 

 

“Let’s eat.” I said and we get our dinner ready 

“Anoo, Fukuyama-san, if you don’t mind me asking, you said a while ago that you have your ojiichan? Where is he. Do you live here alone?” asked Chiaki as we are munching on our dinner. 

“Just call me Rein. Let's not be formal here.” I laughed “Well, my ojiichan died last year.” I started 

“Oh, gomen for asking. I didn’t know.” said Chiaki as she looks down 

“Daijoubu, you already told me your story, so might as well told you mine.” I said “I am an orphan as well. My mother died in a car accident when I was still an infant. Luckily, there were people near the scene of the accident who checked on us and took me after realizing I am still alive. It was the man who I considered ojiichan who took me and raise me.” I continue 

“Souka. Anoo, you are good in fighting, where did you learned that?” asked Satomi 

“My ojiichan taught me how to fight. He was a Yakuza leader so he taught me how to fight. Before he died, he decided to cut the clan’s lineage. He said he wants me to have a normal life, away from the crazy Yakuza world. When I say crazy, trust me, it IS crazy indeed. Fighting left and right, ojiichan doesn’t want me to have that kind of life. So after ojiichan passed away, our clan collapsed. That's when I decided to live on my own and stay here in Tokyo.” I told them 

“Su..sugoi!” said Satomi in amazement 

“That justifies your fighting skill.” said Chiaki 

“It’s a good thing as well that ojiichan taught me how to fight. At least I can protect myself and save other people who are in need.” I smiled 

“We haven’t told you how we ended up in the orphanage. We had a well-off life before, our parents had their own business but they both died in a plane crash when they were about to go abroad for a major business trip. After they died, the investors in our company pulled off one by one which had our company go bankrupt. We have no other known relatives that’s why we ended up in that orphanage.” said Satomi 

“Souka. Ne, don’t you think destiny brought us together? So that we can have companions.” I chuckled 

“Agree.” said Chiaki 

“Starting today, we have each other’s back deshou?” smiled Satomi 

“Hai.” both me and Chiaki agree 

 

Starting that day, I live together with Satomi and Chiaki. They both looked for part time jobs and fortunately, they landed on one. Satomi got a part time from a maid café while Chiaki got a part time as a cashier in a convenience store. We both have our goals, we wanted to save money so we could go to school this school year. As for me, I continue with my part time jobs; car washer and I also do construction works. 

 

Time passed by and the three of us continued living together, we managed to transfer into a bit bigger unit since we all pay for our rent. Satomi and Chiaki tried to apply for a scholarship in high school and fortunately, both of them passed the scholarship. As for me, I also had enough savings to enter high school. Everything is going smoothly until the day came which flipped my world upside down. 

 

“Mi-chan, Chi-chan, ittekimasu!” I said as I was about to get out our unit and was surprised when I saw group of men who are in tuxedos which are standing in front our unit. 

 

“Fukuyama-san, we need you to come with us.” said one of the men
