the storm
UnrequitedWith the comeback, their activities left them exhausted. First, they were busy with their team, selecting the songs. After that came recording. When everything was set, they decided on a title track. Soon came dance practice. Wendy hated that part the most. It was intense and physically exhausted her to the point that she always wanted to take a nap.
They went on several shows for promotion. What irked and even scared her was how normally Irene and Seulgi acted in front of the camera. Off the camera, they would hardly talk. Even more irking was Seulgi's behavior towards her. She often found the dancer ignoring her. She was unnerved by the way sometimes Seulgi would look at her. It often made her wonder what was wrong with the older but out of respect, never downright asked her. As she should have done.
If she had talked to Seulgi, settled differences between them, maybe what happened a few days later could have been avoided.
It was just any other day. Yeri was out again with her friends. Joy was overseas for a variety show. Wendy was shopping. Seulgi returned from company after practice. Irene had a long day filming for another variety show. The dorm was quiet.
Calm before a storm.
The moment Irene stepped into the dorm, she was greeted by a sight of Seulgi perched on the couch. She was staring at the muted television screen. A girl group was performing. Usually, Seulgi would watch these performances with analytical eyes. But today, she was daydreaming. Irene could tell. She neared the dancer and out of habit, clicked her fingers in front of the distracted girl's face.
Seulgi yelped in surprise and gaped at Irene. The leader laughed at her reaction. Seulgi put her hand on her chest, to calm her fast beating heart.
"What are you doing?" Irene asked, dropping her bag on the couch and sat beside her. Forgotten were the break ups. It's been months since they ended their relationship and continued to be teammates only. Meanwhile, during this time, she continued the relationship she once shared with Wendy. It made her feel relaxed and happy.
"Nothing," Seulgi murmured. Her eyes zeroed in on Irene's shiny pink lips and imagined kissing them, imagined Wendy kissing them. Overcome with the pain that came, she in a breath and looked away.
Irene had noticed that. She blinked and all the memories came rushing back. The feel of Seulgi's lips against hers. The feel of her body against hers. But she looked away when Wendy's face flashed in front of her eyes.
She had Wendy to kiss, to hold. Another messy relationship with the same girl was the last thing in her mind. With Seulgi, she could only ever be friends. Anything more was no longer a possibility.
"Do you need coffee?" Seulgi stood up.
She had been thinking about Irene and Wendy. When she saw them on Irene's bed, she had been immensely hurt. She had cried all night. Her thoughts were often stuck there. S
