HuhGak’s Chicken:

Eunji: Hayoung? Naeun? What are you guys doing here? Why aren’t you at home?

Hayoung: Naeun came early from school so I thought we could all just have a drink here after closing up?

Naeun: Is Mr. Gak around?

Eunji: He left already…

Hayoung: Nice!

          I’ll mop the kitchen and Naeun can count the profits while you finish wiping the tables.

Naeun: I can’t promise I’ll do a good job handling money.

Eunji (sighs): It’ll be fine.

After making the place sparkling clean and Naeun recounting the profits more times than necessary, they settle at one of the tables with some beer and a fresh set of chicken. Hayoung looks overly excited.

Eunji: Eat slowly.

Naeun: Did you not have lunch or something?

Hayoung (sighs): It’s just stress.

Eunji and Naeun exchange glances. They try not to laugh.

Eunji: What could our youngster high school senior be stressed about?

Hayoung (glares): There are a lot of things, grandma Eunji.

Eunji (yells): Hey! Th–

Naeun: Is it about Namjoo again?

Hayoung: Yeah…

Eunji: Maybe you should start worrying about your grades instead for once.

Hayoung: You haven’t seen my report cards yet, have you?

Eunji: ... 

Naeun: You haven’t?!

Eunji: How would I have when she forges my signature instead of actually showing me?

Naeun (to Hayoung): Why don’t you just show her? It’s not like you’re failing any of your classes.

Hayoung (whines): Can we not talk about that? I want to talk about my day.

Eunji (sighs): Go ahead…

*FLASHBACK*

M High School:

Namjoo: Let’s go to the movies today.

Hayoung: Didn’t you already go a couple days ago?

Namjoo (pouts): There is still much left to see.

Hayoung: … 

Namjoo: Do you have plans already?

Hayoung: I wouldn’t really call it plans… I was just going to play Overwatch tonight.

Namjoo: With Eunji unnie?

Hayoung: With Yerin and Joy.

          Can I invite them too then?

Namjoo stops to open her locker. She dumps all of her textbooks into Hayoung's arms without a word before retrieving a granola bar from the back of her locker.

Namjoo: Actually I was hoping we could go with Sungjae and Minhyuk.

Hayoung (slowly): Just the four of us? Like a double date?

Namjoo: I guess you can put it that way.

Hayoung: Oh…

Namjoo: We can call if off if you don’t want to. It’d be awkward alone.

Hayoung: Right. No, I’ll, uh, I’ll be there.

Namjoo: Really?!

Hayoung (sighs): Really.

*SNAPBACK*

Eunji: Wait a second. Is she trying to set you up with a boy?

Naeun: She could’ve at least got Sungjae to bring one of his girl friends.

Hayoung: I don’t know.

Eunji: Why’d you agree to go anyways?

Hayoung: I wanted to see how close Namjoo and Sungjae were.

Naeun: Maybe not so much since she thought it would be awkward alone?

Eunji (to Hayoung): To be honest, your chances aren’t looking too good right now.

Hayoung rolls her eyes.

Hayoung: Just listen to the rest of the story.

*BACK TO FLASHBACK*

Play Theater:

Namjoo: Hayoung! Over here!

Hayoung: I see you. Stop being so loud. You’ll get us kicked out.

Namjoo: Just hurry up and sit here.

Hayoung: I got popcorn on my way in.

Namjoo: Sungjae already got some.

Hayoung: Oh.

Namjoo: It’s okay. Just sit next to Minhyuk on the other side so you guys can share.

Hayoung: Okay.

Hayoung eyes Sungjae who is seated in between Namjoo and Minhyuk before plopping down at the edge next to Minhyuk. They exchange a short greeting before focusing on the screen in front of them.

Minhyuk: Were Sungjae and Namjoo always this close?

Hayoung: Recently. Why?

Minhyuk: I was just surprised by this invitation.

Hayoung: Why?

Minhyuk: I mean… It’s a weird combination of people, isn’t it?

Hayoung: I suppose it is.

Minhyuk spends the rest of the movie talking to Sungjae. When the credits begin to roll, Namjoo hops up from her seat and flings herself at Hayoung.

Namjoo: I missed you soooooo much.

Hayoung: What are you talking about?

Namjoo: We just spent two hours apart.

Hayoung (indifferent): We were watching a movie.

Namjoo: A movie we could’ve been watching inches from each other.

Hayoung: You’re the one who told me to sit away from you!

Namjoo wipes away an exaggerated fake tear.

Namjoo: A mistake. A grave mistake.

Hayoung (chuckles): Stop being silly and get off my lap.

Namjoo: No!

Hayoung: Minhyuk and Sungjae already left without us.

          Let’s leave.

Namjoo: They’re going to the bathroom. We can wait like this.

Hayoung (hums): Okay then.

          Just until they come back.

Namjoo: How was the movie for you?
