Sushi Restaurant:

Naeun: Any luck getting Chorong’s number, Eunji?

Hayoung: Oh yeah. It seemed like a lot happened this past week with the two of you.

Eunji (smirks): Never doubt me.

               I’ve got everything figured out.

Naeun: Everything?

Eunji scratches the back of her head.

Eunji: Well… I think I’ll still need a little more time but I know what I’m working with now.

Hayoung: Is it difficult?

Eunji: Er… Just a little tangled, but I’ll just tell you about it.

*FLASHBACK*

Park's Co. Building:

Eunji: Good morning, Chorong.

Chorong: Good morning.

Eunji: Hey, could you do me a favor?

Chorong looks up from her papers and sighs.

Chorong: What is it?

Eunji: I, uh, lost my phone in the office and I’ve pretty much checked everywhere except here.

Chorong: Oh… Well, feel free to look around.

Eunji: Right. But I thought it would be a little faster if you could try calling me?

               I have my ringer on so it might be easier.

Chorong has a cynical expression but after a couple seconds of Eunji’s nervous laughter and Chorong’s glare, Chorong warily gets out her phone and sticks in the palm of Eunji’s hand.

Eunji (grins): Thanks.

Chorong (mutters): No problem. Just make it quick.

Eunji: Don’t worry. I won’t hack into your phone or anything.

               I’m just making a call to myself.

The ringing sounds shortly after Eunji punches in her last number. It’s only when Chorong realizes it’s coming from Eunji’s pocket that she snatches her own phone away, scowling.

Chorong: What the hell are you playing at?

Eunji (charmingly): Now you have my number and I have yours.

Chorong: So you didn’t lose your phone?

Eunji: I would never.

               And I'm not planning to especially now that I have your number in it.

Chorong (groans): Get out.

Eunji gives one last wink and leaves her office. But instead of walking away, Eunji peers through the blinds for a bit before boldly deciding to call Chorong. Eunji has to hold back a chuckle when she sees Chorong’s look of frustrated confusion when her phone begins to ring.

Chorong (snarls): What do you want?

Eunji: I was just checking in.

               Needed to make sure the number works.

Chorong (frustrated): Why would it not?

               You practically forced it.

Eunji: I wouldn’t say I forced it. Technically, you did agree to let me call myself with your phone.

Chorong (grumbles): Just hang up.

Eunji hears the line beep and looks up to see Chorong harshly shove her phone into a drawer.

*SNAPBACK*
 

Naeun: Wow. You’re really annoying.

Hayoung: Yeah. I mean I already knew that but this is another level.

Eunji: What can I say? Chorong brings it out of me.

Naeun: I’m just surprised you aren’t fired yet.

Eunji (gasps): Don’t even speak of such things.

Hayoung: Pft. Give it another month and you’ll probably be back working at Mr. Gak’s instead of with Chorong.

Naeun: I’d say another two weeks.

Hayoung: You’re on.

Eunji: Woah, woah. Nobody said you could be betting on my ability to keep a job.

               Especially right in front of me!

Naeun (shrugs): It’s harmless.

Hayoung: So twenty bucks?

Naeun: Sounds good.

*BACK TO FLASHBACK*

Soyoung: I’ve been looking for you all day.

               What have you been up to?

Eunji: This and that.

               Aren’t you leaving soon anyways?

Soyoung: Ugh, yeah. I really don’t want to go on this bonding trip though.

               Camping hasn’t really been my forte.

Eunji (chuckles): At least you have time to have lunch with me before going.

Soyoung: I know. I wish you could come too.

Suddenly, Soyoung feels a slight nudge on her shoulder. She looks up to see Solar hovering above her with a tray in hand, smiling widely.

Solar: What’s up?

Soyoung: Oh, hey Solar.

               This is Eunji, a friend of mine back when I used to work at a cafe and our current janitor.

               … And this is Solar, my friend from college and the team manager of one of our bigger branches.

Solar: Nice to meet you, Eunji.

               I actually overheard a bit of your conversation with Soyoung and if you’re down for it, you’re always welcome to join us on our bonding trip.

Soyoung (chuckles): I’m sure Eunji is busy. She works like three other jo––

Eunji: Would Ms. Park be there too?

Soyoung chokes on her water.

Solar (grins): Of course.

Eunji: I’ll be there.

Soyoung (hisses): What about your part-time today?

Eunji: I’ll just arrive a little late.

               That’s fine, isn’t it?

That’s when Chorong finally appears with her own tray of food, speed walking so quickly next to Solar, that it takes her by surprise when she looks up and sees Solar conversing with Eunji. 

Chorong (stammers): O-Oh. A-Are you acquainted with Eunji?

Solar (chuckles): Nah. We just met, but she seems very… charming.

Eunji (grins): I get that a lot.

Chorong (sputters): Well, we should get to our table before the food gets cold.

Solar: Right.

               Make sure to fill Eunji in on the bonding trip details, Soyoung.

Chorong: Huh?

Solar: Oh. I just invited Eunji to come with our branches to the bonding trip.

               That’s okay with you, right?

Chorong: Uh… Yeah… T-that’s… that’s fine.

*SNAPBACK*

Eunji: To be fair, I got lucky with this opportunity.

Hayoung: Luck is part of skill.

Naeun: That sounds like nonsense.
