Apartment 3-B:

Hayoung: You’re home early.

Naeun: She’s not home early.

            She just never left home.

Eunji: I’m sick... Kind of.

Hayoung: Oh. Well, Namjoo is coming over.

Eunji: Don’t act like you would listen to me anyways.

Hayoung (snaps): I listen to you!

Naeun: She’s just moody because she’s been standing in front of the door all day.

Eunji: Like our own personal guard dog.

Hayoung (grumbles): She said she’d be here by twelve.

Naeun: Maybe sit down for a second?

Eunji (coughs): And tell us why you’re so jumpy while I’m home.

Hayoung: … All right.

*FLASHBACK*

Cafeteria:

Namjoo: Sungjae wants to eat with us.

​​​​​​​            Is that okay?

Hayoung: Uh, sure?

Namjoo: Perfect. Minhyuk is on his way too.

Hayoung: Huh?

Namjoo (smiles): I think we can all be very good friends.

Hayoung tries not to frown when Sungjae and Minhyuk finally make it to the table.

Namjoo: Hey guys!

​​​​​​​            Where are you coming from?

Minhyuk: We just bumped into each other at the lockers and came together.

Sungjae: I actually thought we would get here faster than you guys.

Hayoung: Namjoo practically sprints to the cafeteria.

Namjoo: I’m just speedy.

Hayoung gives her a look.

Namjoo: Anyway! Did you hear any fun locker gossip?

Hayoung (groans): Really Namjoo?

Sungjae (smirk): Actually, I heard something about Heri having a crush on Hayoung.

Hayoung chokes on her food.

Namjoo (teases): Ooooh, someone has a crush on Hayoung!

Minhyuk: Heri is a really nice girl.

Sungjae: Would you date her?

Hayoung: Uh, no. Like I said before, we’re just friends.

Namjoo: Yeah, our little Hayoung only has eyes for me.

Hayoung feels like choking for the second time.

Hayoung (grumbles): Shut up.

Namjoo: Eyy~ I see you blushing!

Hayoung: I just don’t see myself dating Heri.

Namjoo: You’re so picky.

​​​​​​​            This is why you haven’t dated anyone before.

Hayoung: It’s not like you have either!

Namjoo: Good point.

Minhyuk: I guess that just goes for everyone at this table then?

Sungjae: I don’t know whether to be offended or honored that you know without asking that I’ve never dated before.

Minhyuk (shrugs): I’ve known you long enough to know that much.

Namjoo: I’m sure we’ve all still had our fair share of crushes though.

Minhyuk: Perhaps.

Sungjae (shyly): I know I do.

Minhyuk: I’m still figuring things out.

Namjoo: Ah, crushes. I would know all about that…

Hayoung, Minhyuk, and Sungjae turn to look at her, drawn in by her words. But it only takes the loopy look in her eyes to know that she’s about to pull another joke.

Namjoo: I just have a huge crush on my best friend.

Hayoung (sarcastically): Ha ha, very funny Namjoo.

Sungjae: Can’t you be serious for once?

Hayoung tries to hide her disappointment. It’s difficult.

Minhyuk: What about you, Hayoung?

Hayoung: … 

*SNAPBACK*

Eunji (yells): What? What did you say?

Hayoung: Nothing. 

​​​​​​​            The bell rang so we left.

Naeun: Speaking of bells, there’s someone at the door!

Hayoung leaps out of her room without missing a beat, Eunji and Naeun chuckling at her eagerness.

Namjoo stumbles into the apartment with a purple duffel bag, smiling from ear to ear at the sight of Hayoung leaning cooly against the door frame.

Naeun: Hey, Namjoo.

Eunji: Oh you’re here! Hayoung was dying waiting for you.

Hayoung: Shut up! No I wasn’t!

Namjoo: Aw, you waited for me?

Hayoung: I-I didn’t!

Namjoo: Actually, since Naeun and Eunji are all here, I think this is good timing.
