Coat

Should I?

"Here," I remember him saying as he wrapped his biege coat around me.

I was standing outside, despite the weather dropping to 0 degrees, so I could take a breather from the festivities brought about by the wrap up party. I honestly didn't think that he would follow me out here, knowing just how much fun he was having back inside, but somehow he was standing right beside me, and I couldn't help but feel glad.

"Kamsahamnida (Thank you)." I uttered as I immediately felt the comforting warmth of his coat.

"Crazy, isn't it?" He said. "Weren't we in Switzerland the other day?"

I smiled at his subtle joke.

"I know, everything seems to be happening so fast." I replied. "But I'm really glad that I accepted this project. Definitely one of the best career moves I've ever done in my entire life."

"Me too." He agreed. "I was able to meet and work with so many wonderful people. But I guess... what really did matter the most to me was that I was given the best partner anyone could ever ask for."

I looked at him and laughed.

"Stop it. I might just believe you."

"Wae (Why)?" He smiled back. "You don't believe me?"

"Aniyo (No)." I replied, trying to stop myself from laughing again. "Who would believe someone who looked just like you?"

He immediately made a funny face in reply.

"I'm not quite sure if I should take that as a compliment or an insult."

"A compliment." I cleared out, smiling. "Take it as a compliment."

"But really, Ye Jin sshi," He said, suddenly shifting into a serious tone. "Thank you for being the best partner to me. I don't think I could've become Ri Jeong Hyeok if not for you." He added.

"You really did bring out the best in me and for that, I will forever be thankful."

As he flashed his signature dimpled smile at me, I felt as if my whole world had stopped in that very moment.

Hyun Bin had always been such a dear friend to me all these years. He made me smile, made me laugh, was a good support system when I was filled with so much doubt. He was a total gentleman who was sensitive to my needs and as he stood right beside me, I couldn't help but think about how good it must've felt to be loved by someone like him.

"You can keep the coat." He said, breaking off my train of thought. "It suits you better."

Oh how I wanted to say, "Can I keep you instead because I think that you suit me best."

Aigoo, Ye Jin sshi.
