“Here.”   Hyunmi placed the long overdue chocolate on Woohyun’s desk. It was wrapped inside a small box, tied to utmost perfection she had learned from following a Youtube tutorial.   “What’s this? Valentine’s chocolate?” Kibum immediately remarked, studying the gift from different angles. “You made one for Woohyun and not for me?”   “You wanted one?” Hyunmi asked.   “From you? Of course not. I’m just worried Woohyun might get food poisoning from eating this.” Kibum clicked his tongue, placing the gift back on the desk.    Woohyun bit the inside of his cheeks to stop himself from laughing. He had predicted Kibum’s rejection for that exact same reason.    “Hooo, seems like you found your quality man after all,” Seulyi joined in as soon as she arrived, always a few minutes before class started.    “He practically begged for it,” Hyunmi said.   “It’s true. So stop teasing her,” Woohyun said, putting the gift with extra precision and exaggerated care into his backpack, ensuring Hyunmi could see how much he treasured it.   “How nice. Now if only I could find a decent guy for myself,” Seulyi sighed dramatically, plopping herself down on her seat.   Right then, Mr. Park entered the classroom with rushed footsteps. “We have a new transfer student today.”   The door opened once more, and in walked the most handsome being who had ever grazed the surface of the earth. When he smiled, two dimples sank between his cheeks, creating a heavenly visual that had the girls in the class swoon out loud. It was as if everyone had turned to goo and were melting in their seat.   “I found my decent guy,” Seulyi mumbled, loud enough for her friend to hear it. She practically ogled at the new student with heart eyes.   “Hi, my name is Kim Myungsoo. I hope we can get along well. Please take care of me,” the new guy introduced himself and formally bowed in front of everyone.   A chorus of high pitched squeal belonging to nearly the entire female student population in class welcomed him enthusiastically.    Myungsoo was assigned the only empty seat at the far back besides the window, next to Sungyeol. Just the simple motion of his walk, his graceful footsteps, and the way his fluffy hair bounced on his head had the girls in awe.   “Seems you got a lot of competition,” Hyunmi remarked to Seulyi, secretly enjoying the way her friend experienced a mental breakdown at the realization.   “I know. It’s the end before it even started,” Seulyi wailed, slumping her face against her desk.   “Don’t worry,” Hyunmi said. She would’ve patted her friend if only their desks were closer together. “I’ll help you get his attention.”   Hearing that, Woohyun turned to look at her, narrowing his eyes skeptically. He had a bad feeling about this.   ***   While most girls were busy fawning and staring at Myungsoo from afar during break time, Hyunmi observed the entire scene. Some girls tried to talk to him, but his blinding visual made it impossible to strike up a conversation without getting a heart attack.   “I don’t get it. What’s all the hype about him, anyway?” Woohyun asked, leaning his hand on Hyunmi’s table, studying the same scene.   “He’s extremely handsome,” she bluntly answered.   “You think so too?”   “Yeah.” She turned to Woohyun, smirking at his pouting face. “I think he might get more fanclub members than you.”   The confession made Woohyun gape in shock. “He already has a fanclub on his first day? Are you a member of his fanclub?”   “No way, I can’t make profit off of him. You’d still be my first choice, Woohyun,” she said, sweetly patting Woohyun’s cheek before getting up from her seat, taking her notebook and pen along.   It was time to help Seulyi. Poor girl didn’t stand a chance against the swarm of drooling fangirls. Even girls from other classes had appeared. News of a new handsome transfer student traveled fast around school.   “Excuse me.” Hyunmi wormed her way through the crowd, easily making it to the center where Myungsoo and Sungyeol were at.   “What do you want?” Sungyeol asked.   Hyunmi offered him a smile while keeping her eyes on the newcomer. From up close, his visual was even more ethereal, resembling a deity rather than mortal. “Kim Myungsoo, right?”   “Yes,” the boy replied, flashing a dimpled smile that made even Hyunmi forget how to breathe for a second. And she hadn’t even been screaming for him along with the other crazy fangirls.    “Mr. Park asked me to collect some of your contact information for our student database,” Hyunmi said, setting her notebook and pen on his desk.   “Really? Wouldn’t he have that from my student application?” Myungsoo asked.   Hyunmi flinched a little, quickly thinking of something to cover up her bluff. “He misplaced it. Mr. Park can be quite clumsy sometimes.”   Myungsoo nodded without a hint of doubt. He jotted down his name, phone number, email address, and even home address. All personal information that could be monetized.   Sungyeol squinted his eyes at Hyunmi, slowly shaking his head. “You liar,” he mouthed silently, but gave her thumbs up. Of course the fellow scammer would approve. He probably regretted not thinking of this idea first.    “Well, it’s very nice of you to help Mr. Park, um?” Myungsoo handed the notebook back to her.   “Jang Hyunmi,” said, plastering a professional smile. Her facade broke a little when Myungsoo suddenly grabbed her hand for a formal handshake, a move that had all girls gasp and cry here and there. Even she was surprised by his formal manners.   “You must be the class representative then?” Myungsoo asked.   “Hah!” Kibum snorted, his seat being right in front of Myungsoo. He got up on his feet to rest an arm on Hyunmi’s head as if she was an armrest. “If she was class representative, we’d be doomed by her crazy schedules.”   “I’m the unofficial class representative, and I don’t make crazy schedules,” Hyunmi said, shoving Kibum’s arm away. He childishly stuck his tongue out.   “Self-proclaimed, unofficial class representative,” Sungyeol added, snickering a laugh with Kibum. “And yes, you do.”   Hyunmi rolled her eyes before focusing on the new student. “Anyway, if you need help with anything, feel free to let me know.”   “Will do. Thanks Hyunmi,” Myungsoo said, and the spectating girls all cried again, silently cursing Hyunmi for having her name elicited through Myungsoo’s perfect lips.   Hyunmi ignored them all and broke free from the circle, returning to where Seulyi and Woohyun had been watching.   “How could you do that? You already have Woohyun! Why did you have to flirt with the only decent guy at school?” Seulyi cried.   “I know. I feel so abandoned,” Woohyun played along, hitting his chest dramatically, even feigning a tear.   “
