The number of times she thought about Woohyun did not end there. The more she tried to push it away, the more it came bouncing back with a greater force. Hyunmi thought about his words, about his hand on her cheek, their close proximity, and about what would’ve happened if he hadn’t pulled away first.   What was she hoping for? What would she have allowed him to do? And what would she have done?   The thoughts stayed with her even when she got to school the next Monday. She was expertly ignoring Kibum and Seulyi’s nosy interrogation when a familiar “morning” greeted her. That strange feeling from last night invaded her immediately, setting her heart to a gallop.    “Morning, Woohyun,” Seulyi and Kibum replied, just as usual.   But when Hyunmi hadn’t said anything, it immediately earned Woohyun’s stare, as if he knew something was up and was waiting for her to engage in their usual ritual.   “M-Morning,” she forced herself to say, even adding a sheepish smile. But when Woohyun grinned back, she found it was becoming harder to look at him with a composed face. The noise in her heart became too overwhelming, and she had no way of stopping it.   Kibum and Seulyi frowned, sending each other a look.   “Hyunmi, can I copy your answers? I forgot to do my homework.” Woohyun shifted his chair to face her table, ready with his notebook. Nothing seemed out of the ordinary here.   “You had a whole weekend to do them,” she reasoned.   “Not really. I was busy helping you,” Woohyun said, grinning even wider when she finally gave in and handed him her notebook.   “Which is what we’ve been bugging her about, but she won’t say anything. How did the dates go?” Seulyi asked, getting impatient at their silence.   “You should ask her, not me,” Woohyun replied, just as reluctant as Hyunmi had been.   “You know, if you’re being secretive about it, it means something did happen and you’re trying to hide it,” Kibum reasoned, squinting his eyes to catch the truth.   “Even if it did, we have no reason to tell you,” Woohyun said, childishly sticking his tongue out to taunt his friend. He glanced at Hyunmi in search of an agreement, but instead, noticed the change in her hairstyle. Usually she kept them straight, but today, she had curled them a little which reminded him of her dress up during their mock date.    Woohyun casually reached out to glide his fingers through her wavy hair, displaying an intimate move that had been common between them for years. “You curled your hair. It’s nice. I like it.”   What hadn’t been the same was Hyunmi’s reaction to it. She suddenly flinched at his physical touch instead of ignoring him as she usually would. She quickly wetted her lips and avoided his gaze. “You noticed?”   “Hard not to when I look at you every single day,” Woohyun laughed, returning to his notebook.   The change in her response may not have been obvious to him, but it certainly did alert Kibum and Seulyi who exchanged a look with each other, both grinning from ear to ear.   “My friend, did you see what I see?” Kibum asked.   “I see progress,” Seulyi answered.   “I see hope!” Kibum added and the two cheered and high fived as if they had won a championship. And soon, the rest of the class joined in their cheers after having witnessed the same intimate scene that had them blushing along.   It wouldn’t be long before the two idiots finally came to their senses.   ***   During lunch time, Seulyi and Kibum were eager to continue their interrogation. But before they had a chance to move from their desks, a familiar person appeared by the door.   “Woohyun, I brought your uniform,” Hime spoke a bit too loud, basically announcing it to the whole class.   “Oh, thanks.” Woohyun immediately got up to approach her by the door. She handed him a pink and lacy bag which exuded her feminity, but looked like a mismatched picture in his hand. It contained his soccer uniform. “You sew really well.”   “I’m used to it. I also washed it for you,” Hime said, her eyes focused on Woohyun’s reaction. Her infatuation was written on her face like an open book.   Hyunmi tried her best to focus on copying the last bit of notes written on the board onto her notebook, but the sound of their chatters and coy giggles had never bothered her this much before. She was supposed to be happy that those two were finally progressing and seemed much more comfortable with each other. He even had Hime sew his uniform, something Hyunmi could’ve done if only he’d ask. Why didn’t he ask her?   “You know, you’ve been writing the same sentence thrice,” Myungsoo’s voice interrupted.   Hyunmi flinched, surprised to see Myungsoo, Seulyi, and Kibum all surrounding her table. Glancing down at her notebook, she realized the boy was right. What a stupid mistake. She wasn’t usually so sloppy with her note taking.    “You must be distracted,” Kibum said, the elation clear in his voice.   “No, I’m not,” Hyunmi said, looking up just in time to see Hime link her arm around Woohyun’s as they both exited the classroom. The smile froze on her face as a sudden feeling clenched her heart. The realization made her panic. She was not supposed to react this way.   “Kibum, isn’t this the face of a jealous woman?” Seulyi asked.   “Yes!” Kibum sang, leaning closer to press Hyunmi’s face between his hands, making her lips protrude in a very unattractive sight. “It’s beautiful.”   Hyunmi immediately slapped his hands away, ignoring Myungsoo’s amused chuckle in the background. “Stop talking nonsense. I’m not jealous. How can I be jealous when I don’t like him? I don’t like him. Hah.”   “I’m guessing that you don’t even know what it feels like to like someone,” Kibum swayed his index finger all mightily.   “As if you know. The only person you like is yourself,” Hyunmi countered.   “That is true. But we have someone who understands the feeling well enough,” Kibum said, pointing a finger at Seulyi. “Go tell her.”   “W-Wait. Right here? Right now?” Seulyi stammered, side glancing Myungsoo who was curiously following their conversation. Did stupid Kibum expect her to talk about her crush on Myungsoo right in front of Myungsoo himself?    “Yeah, not like that person knows it’s about him anyway,” Kibum pressed on, knowing exactly what she was worried about.   “Yeah, this could help you,” Hyunmi insisted.
