Rejections are a Pain
The Study of LifeJoohyun slowly walked out of the building and held a hand out to feel the rain. It was cold and harsh like it was already winter, except it wasn’t. She pulled her arms together and hugged her small body as she thought of Seokjin. A small smile appeared on her face.
“That’s too bad,” she chuckled.
“What’s too bad?
“Oh,” she turned and saw Yoona standing next to her, “Professor…”
Yoona chuckled, “what are you thinking about?”
“Nothing,” she giggled cheerly, “just surprised that it rained.”
“Yeah, I’m surprised it actually rained too… the forecast said it was going to be sunny.”
“Yes,” she thought for a second, “Professor Im, are your classes done for the day?”
“Yeah,” Yoona looked at her watch, “I’m done today.”
“That’s a relief…”
“Why,” Yoona smiled at her, “did you need something?”
“I was actually just hoping that we could maybe grab a coffee, if you’re free.”
“Hm, I should be free until 5, so yeah, let’s grab a coffee,” Yoona opens an umbrella, “do you have an umbrella?”
“Oh, I didn’t bring one.”
“It’s okay, we can share, right?”
“Y-yes,” she joins Yoona under the umbrella as they start walking down the street, “let’s go to the café across from the university, they have a great dalgona drink.”
“Mm, that sounds good.”
When they arrived at the café, Yoona naturally led them to a table by the window while Joohyun was still too awestruck by her beauty that she simply followed.
“What would you like,” Yoona asked her.
“Oh, it’s okay,” she tried to stand up, “I’ll pay.”
“No, don’t be silly,” Yoona won the fight, “I’m older, so it’s only natural that I buy.”
“Oh, alright then,” she smiled to herself, “thank you.”
“Of course,” Yoona said as her phone rang, “I’ll be right back… hello, honey?”
Her smile disappeared as she overheard the conversation between Yoona and her husband. For a second she thought about how ridiculous it was that she even considered the possibility of Yoona being single, and then she chuckled. Just then, Seokjin ran pass the window and backed up to smile at her.
“Oh,” she smiled and mouthed to him, “what are you doing?”
“Running home,” he waved to her and ran off with a hand over his face, “bye!”
“Bye,” she waved to him and smiled sweetly, “what a funny guy.”
“Who was that,” Yoona asked her as she sat down.
“Oh, it’s no one, just a friend.”
“Oh sure… so, how’s your last year?”
“Well,” she adjusted in her seat, “I’ve been working on getting internships at just about every place I can think of…”
“You’re still going to write though, right?”
“Write?”
“Yeah, isn’t that what you love doing?”
“Uh, yes,” she was shocked, “how’d you know that?”
“Well, you’ve been authoring many short stories online for years and you’ve been co-writing for many scholarly articles.”
She chuckled shyly, “I try.”
“So,” Y
