Act Eight Point Seven

An abandoned building, four years ago

“Code Number 04” Code Number 00 called

            The man with a black veil on the face stood up upon his name being called. Then he followed the taller a man, who is also the leader among them. They disappeared into the dark hall way in the old abandoned building.

            It is the appointed time.

“Why? Are you afraid?”

            As the question being asked, normally Code Number 61 will shrug it off with a playful smirk on the face. But, he didn’t understand why he looked at the not-so-oh-annoying guy beside him. It is Code Number 21. Because none other he would dare enough to ask what Code Number 61 thought.

            The man has already quiet for long time, it is normal to think that has something to think.

            Code Number 99 elbowed Code Number 21, asking him to be quiet just this time. Although that is not possible as Code Number 21 is set to be noisy. That, sadly, is one of his strength.

But Code Number 61 is just stupid enough to ask back “Am I?” he then leaned his back to the cold wall behind him and turned to Code Number 07 “You tell me. Am I afraid? You are the closest one to be human, aren’t you?”

Code Number 07 widened his eyes then blinked stupidly. He looked around, asking for a help. But it seems like everyone wants to know the answer. None of them close enough to be human, but him. Though human didn’t obey any order pointed to them like him.

Then he gulped and asked “I guess it depends. Being afraid is normal because you are just sentenced to deat-“

“Me?” Code Number 61 raised one of his eyebrows

Code Number 07 took a step back “Not you” he corrected immediately “I mean, aren’t you questioning what will happen to that guy and feeling horrible as you know that guy would be killed?”

“What does horrible mean?” Code Number 21 asked

Code Number 07 bit his lips in nervous as Code Number 12 answered “Very unpleasant or bad; very shocking and frightening. Dictionary said”

Code Number 61 turned to Code Number 12 and smirked “Oh, then I am a horrible person”

Code Number 12 rolled his eyes in annoyance then turned to Code Number 07 “What he means that the sight of Chanyeol is death is horrible for you. It means, you are afraid of it”

“Oh, I see. Why did use a difficult word to explain it, huh?” Code Number 21 scoffed

“That because- just because-“ Code Number 07 tried to say but ended up sighing “-never mind!” then he turned to Code Number 61 “And I don’t know about your feeling. Don’t ask me something that I can’t answer, that will stress me out!” he suddenly shouted at Code Number 61 and stomped his feet in annoyance, back to his position beside Code Number 94

            Code Number 61 couldn’t help but to be amused by the face Code Number 94 gave to him. As if, he is the next target he will kill. Then, why didn’t he assign himself to kill that guy, Chanyeol?

            Talking about Chanyeol-

“I decided. I am going to watch”

            Code Number 21 didn’t even surprise when Code Number 61 stood up and thought out loud. He gave him a smirk, and whistled, before tapped Code Number 61’s shoulder and stood up beside him. Code Number 99 only shook his head and left them as he knows they are just being childish and stupid. He clearly didn’t want to witness anything.

“Can I join?” Code Number 21 asked, thus got a frown from the other

“Um, no?” Code Number 61 replied back, clapped his hands before leaving them like a winner

Code Number 07 only scoffed to himself, looking at the ground in disgust “Guess that guy enjoys watching his friend killing himself. What a maniac! If I were him, I wouldn’t dare to see, not even staying here. This is insane” he then looked at the guy beside him “Don’t you think so? What will you do if you assigned to kill someone who just looks like your friend, will you kill him?” he then sighed desperately “Ah, never mind! You are too young for this”

            All he could think that Code Number 94 won’t give him an answer. So then Code Number 07 passed by him and left him. Code Number 07 didn’t see how Code Number 94 actually shook his head while smiling at him

             Back to Code Number 61 who by now is whistling carelessly to check on the target. If he might be right, Chanyeol is no longer breathing. Looking at how precise and accurate Code Number 04 finished his task, there is no way Chanyeol’s life has been spared.

            He remembered back then when Code Number 04 only a child, and yeah they are growing just like a normal human, is given a task to kill his muse. Byun Baekhyun, if he may not wrong is a boy who represented Code Number 04. He never saw the boy before, but somehow he is informed the boy is the opposite personality of Code Number 04. While Code Number 04 shows the least expressions, Byun Baekhyun is somehow cheerful and bubbly.

            That is before the task is given.

            The task is simple, as simple as drawing a mountain for a kindergarten. Killing all related to Byun Baekhyun and put the blame on the boy. Code Number 04 is made to obey orders without questioning thus made him finished the task easily. With the help of Code Number 68 although he knows it is not necessary, but Code Number 04 finished the task without failure. He was back to the basement with blood splattered all over him, no sign of fear, or even regret.

           But that doesn’t mean it didn’t affect Code Number 04 at all. Code Number 61 can’t put the right word to it, but he knows, the death of Baekhyun’s relatives is somehow affected Code Number 04. More or less, he became different guy.

            He even kills Baekhyun’s relatives coldly, of what reason he will spare Chanyeol’s life?

“Given it a fact that Chanyeol is similar with me” Code Number 61 muttered lowly but chuckled after realizing how stupid his sentence could be

            He opened the door, expecting to see blood or dead body, but what comes to him is something what he didn’t think of. There is no dead body, Chanyeol is still alive. But there are bloods, the color of green, were flowing freshly from Code Number 04.

Code Number 61 couldn’t help but widened his eyes and ran to Code Number 04. Though he knows none of them will feel the pain, but losing too much blood would definitely kill them. He suppressed the cut, looking murderously at the one who created the scene.

“What the hell are you doing? Are you insane? He is one of us!” Code Number 61 shouted to Code Number 00 who pointed the gun to Code Number 04

“Move” he ordered “Better die than life. I am way too ashamed to admit that one of my best couldn’t kill even a bug like him. Before the news spread, let me just clean up the mess”

He didn’t know where the anger comes, but Code Number 61 stood up, blazing his hands with the fire and shouted “Over my dead body”

Code Number 00 nearly laughed at challenge as he snorted “Stop playing a hero, both of you-“ he flicked his gun to both Code Number 61 and Code Number 04 “One is failing at the task when the other is trying to hide it. Nonsense! I see no right, so I will finish it on my own way”

“The task is to kill the man, not to kill our ow-“

“That is no different! We are designed not to feel any pain. He will heal himself. So, move!” he then clicked his gun

            Code Number 61 couldn’t believe at what he heard. Thus he gritted his teeth in so much anger. He turned around to ask Code Number 04 to run, but the scene surprised him. Not only Code Number 04 tried to block Chanyeol from the view but the human even replace him for suppressing the blood out of Code Number 04. There is heavy feeling on his chest which couldn’t he describe but Code Number 61 knows which is important. He glared back to Code Number 00. He blazed another fire on his other hand, ready to throw it anytime.

            The gun is shot numerous times. Code Number 61 threw his fire randomly to Code Number 00’s direction, forming a fog that blocks the view. And Code Number 04, he took out his rapier, running straight to Code Number 00 while is bleeding badly.

            Code Number 61 couldn’t clearly see what is happening. He only saw the silhouette of them fighting. One with a gun, the other with his rapier has been slashed dangerously. Code Number 61 is coughing from the fogs, withdrawing out from the fight, and waiting for the right moment to attack.

            But it seems like the fight has ended up before he could put a hand on it. The fogs slowly disappearing, leaving only a body dropped on the ground. It is no other than Code Number 00 who has been cut diagonally on the chest, coughing blood and is dying, but somehow is still alive. As expected from Code Number 04 who has been disappeared with Chanyeol without any traces.

“H-help” Code Number 00 whimpered

Code Number 61 squatted down to Code Number 00’s level “You will heal yourself” he whispered and left the place before Code Number 00 cursed loudly

            The news has been spread. Code Number 04 has left with Chanyeol.

An abandoned building, present time

            It is a pure luck. Jongdae knows it. He just slipped away from the most brutal scene he has ever seen. They didn’t just use fist and sword to fight. Lightning, fire, earthquake, those are such unexplainably scenery his brain would never imagine. Though he is safe and sound now, or what he thought so.

            Once he came inside and wondering alone like a lost man, he is welcomed by a tall white man to what seems like an hour after. Wearing an oddly the same shining tux with a hideous blood trace on his right eyes. Jongdae didn’t need to ask as he knows who he is, probably the same group with them. But the question is which side?

He might be the only one who is positive that Chen, or better say Code Number 21, is a good guy. Therefore, he is sure though the same, all of them are not the same. They split into two groups and it is his task to find it.

            His answer comes in an action. The man lifted his dreadful dark bow and took the arrows on his back. Closed one of his eyes and pointed on him like a bull eyes, Jongdae gasped in surprised. The man didn’t give him the time to react as second later, the arrow has been shot and it flew dangerously straight to his chest.

            Jongdae closed his eyes in panic, not even a movement as he waited for the arrows to hit him. Instead, nothing is happened. He peeked on the gaps of his shutting eyes and found himself having jelly legs as he fell down to the ground immediately. The arrows just millimeters before his chest, now his fore head and he tried to hold his unconsciousness.

            A man, with an adorable smile just grabbed the tip of the arrow that soon froze on his small-rounded fingers, at least compared to Jongdae’s. The man might be shorter than him. His black hair is messed up to the different direction with a comma hair style. Jongdae is surprised to find his heart skipped a bit as he noticed the black choker on his neck. He couldn’t hide the blush on his cheeks and he knows the other notices it.

“Sorry, I am taken. But you can ask the other me” the man winked before turned his body while is playing with the arrow on his hand “Aw, Code Number 94. You grew up so much. You surely become more mature and colder”

            The man, who supposed to be Code Number 94 didn’t say a word. Instead, he took another arrow on his back and pointed it on the adorable man. Jongdae widened his eyes when he saw a wind blew strongly beside the attacker. Perhaps the illusion, Jongdae is stubborn and insisted that he only saw a thing.

            However the place surrounds him didn’t help him to think much. As he took a step back and he felt the temperature dropped down. He turned to the adorable man who, by knows, stood casually on his position with both hands on his pocket.

            The first arrow is shot and it fell on the ground by the sudden change of temperature. With the cracking sound, the arrow broke into two. It fell on the frozen floor in the already cold old building.

Jongdae didn’t realize that he started to tremble a lot before the adorable man turned to him and threw his scarf “You may need this, gentle man. Take it as souvenir, in case this is the last time we meet”

“Granted with the lips, still, talk too much”

            Both of them turned to the source of the voice. The adorable man smiled at it. Jongdae failed to understand why the man still smiled at time like this, even though he fell in love with that smile already.

“You learn how to talk!” the man said “Since when?”

“Since you decided to spilt the group, Code Number 99”

“Aw, call me Xiumin, please. I hate that number. But really, I am glad that you learn how to talk. Who else know?”

“Nobody”

“I am flattered. So, you decided to tell only me?”

Code Number 94 smirked “Not even you”

            That is a warning. Jongdae widened his eyes and try his best to block the following arrows have been shoot from nowhere. But he is too late. The adorable man, named Xiumin, move faster and succeed to block the amount of arrows. Heck, he is failed to block one arrow that has been shot on his stomach.

            The tips of the arrow stabbed deeply on the flesh, although Jongdae is not a Doctor he can tell it hurts a lot. But Xiumin seems fine. The terribly dark green blood has been flown on his stomach like spilled water that forced him to drop down on the frozen floor. Yet, the man didn’t show any kind of hurt sign.

As if Jongdae is not just there, Code Number 94 approached Code Number 99 “Tell me, where is Code Number 07?”
