Tough love
Je t'aime... Moi non plus
After some hard negotiations with Park Jeesung, Sandara’s father, Jiyong managed to keep the contract going. He and Hyundai Industries planned on setting up public electric cars around the city in order to reduce traffic jam and pollution. However, when Park Jeesung arrived at the Mayor’s office he had been straightforward. The only reason why the contract was still on was because Sandara had asked him to not put an end to the agreement before she left for England. For the first time ever, Park Jeesung was angry at his daughter for having such a big heart. She had told him that her relationship with Jiyong shouldn’t have an impact on the company’s business. It's true that this contract was a huge deal for Hyundai, but their had enough partnerships already and cancelling this one with the Kwons wouldn't have jeopardize the company's turnover.
On the other hand, Jiyong was very thankful of Sandara. He didn’t expect her to still try to protect his career after what he did in the nightclub. Kwon Jiyong’s position as a Mayor was still at risk but at least he still had a huge deal going on, which made him less likely to be removed from the City Hall. However, he now had to be very careful with his appearances. All the journalists were waiting for him to make another mistake so that they could write another juicy article, but Jiyong knew better than going out to party again. And even like that, he didn’t feel like partying anymore. He hadn’t feel so down in a long time. Sandara was enjoying her life in London with her cousins and he was in Seoul, working is off to keep his position while waiting for her to come back.
Over the last two weeks, Sandara had uploaded her Instagram account with pictures and videos from her vacation in London. She seemed so happy in her videos that it made Jiyong feel even more down. Of course he was delighted to see her happy but at the same time he thought that she would be as sad as he was after what he did. She had posted videos of her and her cousin Caroline at the spa, videos of her cousin Lucas at the country club playing tennis. At first, Jiyong didn’t realize he was her cousin and had felt jealous over the pictures she had posted with him. It was Seung-hyun who had told him not to worry about the guy. As weird as it sounded, Seung-hyun was nicer to Jiyong after hitting him, however he didn’t apologize. Jiyong had thought that their friendship was over after the scandal and that he would do everything in his power to distance Jiyong from Dara. To the contrary, Seung-hyun was the one updating Jiyong on Dara’s whereabouts when she didn’t post anything online and he even tried to encourage Jiyong in texting or calling her. But Jiyong was too ashamed to dare talking to her; after all, she did everything he wanted her to do. He pursued her so that she would stand by him in front of the media, than he pushed her away and told her he would never be able to love her and Dara listened to him and gave him the space he wanted. How could he now ask her to come back to him?
Dara was feeling good in London. She tried to make the best out of her vacations; she tried to forget all the problems she left in Seoul. She knew that it wouldn’t make things better and that she would have to go back home sooner or later but for the moment she was feeling great. When she had seen these pictures of Jiyong with a stripper in a nightclub, she didn’t feel confident about herself. Kwon Jiyong had made her feel like she was not good enough and now she was realizing that she had to love herself first before loving anyone else. Slowly she was gaining confidence again and it was all thanks to her crazy cousins who took her all around London. In the morning she would go with Lucas to the country club so that they could play tennis, from time to time it was Harry, her uncle, who took her to golf when he was not working at the London Stock Exchange and in the afternoon she would go to the spa or go shopping with Caroline. Sometimes Jia, her aunt, would join them for tea party. At night, her and her cousins usually went out for dinner in a nice restaurant and then they would go party. Sandara enjoyed the London nightlife and her cousins’ friends were all very nice to her. They were all curious about her country and always asked for her to teach them some Korean words. However, she couldn’t help but to feel lonely when they went back home after partying all night. It was during the wee hours of morning that she thought about him. She didn’t want to think about him but she couldn’t help it. While lying on her bed, getting ready to sleep after a long day and a crazy evening, she was thinking of what he was doing on the other side of the globe. Was he working? Did he manage to save his contracts? Did he convince the Democratic Party to keep him as the leader? Or was he forgetting his problems in the arms of a random girl, like he usually did? According to Seung-hyun, Jiyong didn’t party ever since the scandal went public. He would usually go out of his office by 6p.m and directly went back home. Her friend told him that Jiyong didn’t hang out much with his friends anymore, he now was focusing on his work and that was it. During her first days in London, Seung-hyun seemed angry while talking about Jiyong but now, as the days passed, Seung-hyun seemed to soften his talk about him. Last night, he had even told her that he thought Jiyong was starting to fall in love with her. Sandara was taken aback by what Seung-hyun had told her, she couldn’t understand how one could fall in love with someone when that person wa
