EIGHT: Pace
PurebloodThey’re here.
“Bbom-ah? Bomi, wake up.” I tightened our hug, my usual way of waking her up before. And as effective as it has been for the last 900 years, “Good morning.” She’s up.
“My friends are here.” I told Bomi looking at her as she stretch her way to the new day.
“Should I wait here? Can I take a shower and borrow some clothes?” She asked me and it puzzles me, I’m sure I told her that Namjoo and Hayoung are already downstairs, and we’ll do the talking, and introducing.
Hold up. I didn’t told her that directly. And Bomi, being Bomi she needs to hear everything from me.
“No. I want you to meet them then after that we’ll go.”
“I’m gonna meet more of the good vampires?” Bomi’s thoughts are always the cutest, they’re so pure that I can’t help but smile at her.
“Yes you’re gonna meet more of the good vampires.” I confirmed her thoughts and continued, “But let me also remind you that, they already know so much about you so don’t be so surprised at their lack of questions.”
Bomi nods and I hold her hand as we make our way downstairs. I felt her flinch with my action so I let go of her and apologise, “I’m sorry, I- I didn’t mean to scare you.”
“Chorong.. you don’t scare me. I’m not scared of you so please don’t apologise. It’s just that.. maybe I’m still not feeling the idea of us being together, together. I’ll get a hang of it soon don’t worry.” I’m being selfish, I knew what she did for me hours ago is out of pity, she told it to me herself.
“..it must’ve been very hard for you.” Her words earlier haunts me. It’s been pretty hard holding off, keeping everything to myself when I clearly wanted to hold her, touch her, even kiss her. But it’s something I have to do. To once again wait for her to reach that moment, our breakeven point.
“I’ll keep that in mind, Bomi.” Now it feels weird not to call her again by the nickname I have of her. What is this sudden change in my heart. I’m feeling distant and I don’t like it.
“There goes the human, good morning to you Bomi!” Hayoung greeted her with such bright smile. Too bright that it’s starting to scare me.
“Good morning!” Bomi being the bubbliest person greeted her back. It’s nice to see that she’s comfortable talking to them after knowing that in this house, no one else is human except her.
“So Chorong unnie, ready to use your chit?” Namjoo asked getting me right back on track that the time is running.
“I’m pretty sure you have already made a report on what happened in the old factory, Pyo being the family handling the school, and all the humans that’s been killed. I supposed you’re already done with it.” I confirmed to them and the two council members nod.
“Yea we kinda did it already but the one for the council is still blank, what we have done is the one for the humans.” Hayoung explained and Namjoo elaborated it more for me, “Hayoung and I put it as a gang trouble, made the Pyo clan run a drug business and the fight are because of it.” Filing reports of the humans being killed is never easy, Both reports to the council and the human government. But I’m really glad that I have them on my side.
“I’m glad that it’s sorted out, partially.”
“There are so many humans involve, Chorong unnie. Drug war is one way to shut this thing down.” Hayoung said reminding me of the horror I did.
“I’m really sorry about this guys.” I apologise as I have broken so many rules, killing humans and wiping off an entire clan.
“No apologies needed unnie, we saw what happened and it’s all that Pyo Jihoon’s fault.” Namjoo said and it somehow comforted me but to be honest hearing his name only make me think of what he’s done to Bomi. That ing bastard.
“Thanks Namjoo-ya. What I actually need now is a way out. The rest of us will travel back to the big place-” I had to pause as I just heard Bomi asked Eunji,
“Big place?”
“Yes. It is Chorong’s home, it’s what her parent’s place is called. You’ll get it when you arrive there. It’s massive big.”
“Chorong unnie, focus.” Naeun called me out in my head and I try the hardest not to be nosy with whatever my Bomi and Eunji’s talking about.
“To the big place, and we’ll run away from there. I believe it’s better that you two do not know where we’ll go as we all know that the council leaders will soon find out and I don’t want you in any deeper trouble than this.” I ended my talk of the plans and right then, Namjoo held Hayoung’s hands as she thinks about it, process everything. Whenever I see them hold hands, I can’t help but notice that it’s their way of giving strength to each other. It’s like their thing as a duo, as lovers.
“I’ll try to scream unnie.” Hayoung told me. Talking about her ability to make us deaf. I hope she don’t do it right now because I’m already having a hard time to listen to Bomi and Eunji’s conversation. What may have been those two talking about that they can’t stop sharing laughters.
“I know you’ll do it. Try, Hayoung-ah. Try to get out of the council’s spotlight. You and Namjoo.” I warned them as I’m really afraid of the possibility that because of me, because of what I have done, my selfish deeds will lead to us getting thrown away by our kinds.
“Hold on let me get this straight except for the way out you’re asking, you’re also not telling us where you’d go instead of making us lie about it.. then what is it that you actually want us to do?”
“Just to buy me some time. Go back, write what actually happened in your report and tell them that we managed to escape from you two.”
“Oh but with faces like that, free of bruises? It’s definitely not us fighting for our lives.” Eunji started to join the conversation. Anything that will lead to a fight, she’ll sure
