Chapter 3: Mina the Ballerina
Little Did I KnowMina. I can’t help but smile when I think of her. I was immediately drawn to her. She was so quiet and soft spoken, but when she was on stage she was so vibrant and energetic. And her gummy smile, it made me feel so warm inside every time I saw it.
I remember how hard it was befriend her. She preferred being alone and it took a lot of time before she opened up to me. She would always find ways to avoid me or run away from me. I would always offer her some of my snacks or try to talk to her but woah she was real fast in avoiding me.
So one day, it was just her and I in the dorms while the other girls visited their families or went to the mall. I caught Mina sneaking into the kitchen finding to dig up any kind of food. Luckily I was the only capable one to cook in that dorm. Sometimes I wonder if it was a blessing or curse to be the daughter of a chef. I asked Mina if she was hungry and she tried to run away but I caught her and dragged her to the table. I told her to wait while I make her something. I ended up making some kimchi fried rice with an egg on top. I made sure to grab the ketchup and drew a little penguin on the egg.
Mina dug in immediately and I remember hearing her exclaim at how good it was. I sat across from Mina and leaned on the palm of my hand and admired how beautiful she was. After she was done eating, I asked her why she avoids me. Mina ended up saying that she was just scared. I ended up telling her not to be and that I wanted to be her friend.
And from that moment on, Mina and I got close. We both loved video games and reading books, so we pretty much spent our time together doing one of the two. Mina always managed to make me smile and f
