Meeting by the Docks

Find A Way

I know it's been a while since my last update and if anyone is still reading this, thank you for being patient. Don't worry, I'll be uploading regularly again so please continue to support this little story I created. Hope you enjoy.

4:15 PM

Yongsun checked her watch for what seemed like the hundredth time already trying to make sure that she's not late. After playing Byul's message, the singer spent minutes trying to think where exactly in Han river the rapper wants to meet.

"Don't just stand there help me guys!"

"With what unnie? Byulyi unnie said she'll meet you today so all you need to do is show up in Han river and bring her back."

"Do you know how big that place is? She didn't even mention where she'll be!"

"Try going to that place where they have those duck boats."

Yongsun stopped pacing and looked at their second youngest.

"Byulyi unnie mentioned she likes going there to think."

She felt a tinge of jealousy at that time which she quickly shrugged off. They just made up and she wasn't about to ruin it just because Wheein apparently knows Byul's secret place. She thanked her and almost ran out of their dormitory not caring that there was still at least 3 hours before 5:00 o'clock. All she wanted at that time was to see her friend again.

Checking her watch again she knows she had time to kill and so Yongsun slowly walked along the path where the duck boats were.

What exactly do I say that won't make her run away from me. Yongsun thought to herself.

This is frustrating! She let out a low growl which made a few people stare at her weirdly but she didn't care. She kept walking hoping that once she arrives by the duck boats, she'll have her mind ready for anything. Yongsun was only a few meters away from the docks when she saw a familiar figure making her halt in her tracks. There, sitting on a pile of rocks overlooking the Han River was a figure she came to know all too well for the past month.

Byulyi

The wind was blowing gently on ther's face making her hair seemed like it was dancing to a rhythm. Yongsun couldn't help but stare, transfixed by the view. She was snapped out of her creepy staring when a couple of kids running excitedly towards the boats bumped into her. After the kids apologized she turned her head back towards Byul not expecting her to be looking straight at her with those brown eyes that made her heart jumped a little.

Yongsun couldn't move, far too afraid that if she somehow moves Byulyi would runaway.

That's stupid Yong, she wouldn't agree to meet you here in the first place if that was the case. She chided herself and mustering all the courage she still has, walked towards the silver haired girl.

Byulyi looked away when she was halfway towards where she was sitting but it didn't deter Yongsun from her purpose. She knows she has to pick her words carefully unlike the last time they talked. The rapper decided to give her another chance to explain herself and she wasn't about to throw that away and let her go.

Not this time. Not again.

She stopped beside the sitting girl and silently sat down, looking over the view. They stayed like that for a while, sitting quitely and enjoying the afternoon breeze by the river. Yongsun could get why Byul liked this place. It was serene and it somehow made her earlier anxiety dissipate, even a tiny bit.

"Minji said you wanted to see me."

Byulyi was the one who broke the silence and the older girl knew that was her cue to start talking. Although thinking of the right words to say and actually saying them out loud were two different things but she would still try. If this is the only way she could earn back Byulyi's friendship, then she'll do it. Even if there's only a tiny chance of this working out, she'll take it.

"I wanted to get a chance to talk to you again but now, sitting here with you, I honestly don't know where to start anymore."

Silence.

"I know I already said this before but I really am sorry Byul, for everything I put you through. I don't wanna sound repetitive I just want to let you know that I really am." She could feel she was starting to get teary-eyed but she doesn't want the younger girl to see so she brought her feet to her chest and continued talking, "I became selfish and insensitive, I chose to believe what other people told me instead of talking to you, my best friend. I chose them over you Byul and I didn't realize what I had done until it was too late."

"I know I can't take things back and it's past the point of me asking for your forgiveness because I know I don't deserve it, but please know that hurting you all those years ago was the worst thing I've ever done." Yongsun could feel the tears streaming down her face but she continued on, keeping her head down she made sure her voice wouldn't give her away too much.

"I'd understand if you don't want to come back to the agency because of me but please don't break off your communication with the maknaes. I know I have no right to ask you for anything but they're really good kids and they really like you. If you want, you can visit them and I'll get out of the house so you'll be comfortable. You can even meet them outside if you want but please don't disappear again."

Even if I won't be able to see you at least I know you're alright.

Yongsun didn't have the courage to say the last part out loud and so she kept it to herself.

She stayed like that, curled up by the Han River while crying silently. She even thought that the other girl had left her already but she was proven wrong when she heard the rapper spoke for the first time.

"I think six years is more than enough for me to hold a grudge."

Yongsun could swear her heart stopped beating at that point. She slowly turned to look at the girl beside her. Byulyi was still staring across the river but her eyes were soft now unlike before. The singer couldn't help but hold onto the hope that entered her heart by that comment alone.

"Byul..."

"I can still feel the pain in my heart don't get me wrong, but I guess it's time for me to move on from it. I mean it wasn't all bad. If it wasn't for that then I wouldn't be who I am today but still." Byul turned her gaze on the older girl and Yongsun couldn't help but see the old Byulyi in them. "The feeling of being left behind just doesn't go away in one night."

"I'm back..." Yongsun wasn't even fully inside when she got bombarded by her dongsaengs at the door.

"Unnie!"

"What happened?"

"Did you see Byulyi unnie?"

"How'd it go?"

"Where is she?"

"Is unnie alright?"

"Why isn't she with you?"

"Guys come on, one at a time!" That finally calmed her maknaes down for her to answer their questions one by one. She brought the two in the living room where they all sat down.

"Alright to answer your question, yes I did see Byul and we did talk," she held up her hand when she saw them about to interrupt her, signaling the two younger girls that she wasn't finished. "But I don't really know if she'll come back."

"She doesn't want to come back?" She turned to look at Wheein hearing her soft voice and brought her in for a hug.

"She didn't say that Wheein-ah," she kissed her head tenderly before continuing, "She did say to give her time to think things through so I don't know."

Silence filled the usually loud dorm. The three of them sitting on the couch cuddling. Yongsun wondered how, in such a short amount of time, Byulyi was able to make an impact on all of them. Not having her around made them all feel like a part of them was missing.

"At least she didn't say 'no' right unnie?" She heard Hyejin muttered and she has to agree to that.

I did what I could do, now it's just a matter of waiting. But please God or anyone who's listening, I hope she comes back.

The weekend passed by quicky without a word from Byul and Yongsun was starting to think that maybe this is her way of saying she wouldn't return to their little group.

Okay you have got to stop thinking negatively. That won't help anyone. She came out of her room with a smile, trying not to let the maknaes see her in such a state. They'll worry if they see you like that. She kept repeating it inside her head as she tried to lift the mood of the two girls.

All three of them haven't really rested on their dayoff, far too busy thingking if their fourth member would come home that day or not. They all climbed in the company van without talking that much. Yongsun was sure that as soon as they set foot in the building their CEO would be looking for her for any update and honestly she's far too tired to make any excuse this time.

I'll probably be in that office for the better part of the day being scolded. I just hope Byul's doing fine wherever she is.

"Unnie we're here."

"Huh?" Lost in her own world Yongsun didn't realize their van came to a stop and that they were inside the parking lot of their building, "Oh.. okay, let's go inside."

She was still a bit quiet on the elevator ride up thinking that she'll see their CEO in the afternoon. If she's gonna get scolded, she'll at least practice and spend time with her members first. With that thought in mind, she let go of her down mood and would try her hardest to work today and to look after her dongsaengs.

The three of them arrived outside their practice room but they could hear music playing inside which made them curious since they were the only trainees that were scheduled to use that particular room.

"Is the CEO inside?" she heard Hyejin asked.

"I don't know."

Instead of opening it though, Wheein puts her ear on the door, the other two following immediately. Yongsun could faintly hear the song playing in the background, it wasn't the upbeat kind but she knows for sure she heard it before. Before she could pull her head back she heard it, a low voice singing along to the beat and judging from the two younger girls faces they knew exactly who that voice belonged to.

They immediately pulled the door open and there, sitting on the floor of their practice room was none other than Moon Byulyi. She was still oblivious to her three audience and kept on rapping, clearly in her own world and Yongsun loving every minute of it.

She has heard Byulyi rap before but not like this. It was as if she's putting her heart out on every word and it' simply amazing to hear.

She could see now why their CEO had gone out of his way just to have Byulyi signed in their company. Yongsun was in awe of it all she didn't even realize the girl had stopped and saw them watching her. As soon as she turned in their direction the two young singers came running to her side, knocking her down on the floor with them hugging her on either side.

"Unnie! You're here!"

"Does this mean you'll stay? Please say yes unnie."

"Even if you say no I won't let you leave."

Yongsun was still by the door watching the three interact. Even if Byul was there, she doesn't know where she stands in the rapper's life and so she waited silently on the side.

"Yongsun unnie are you just going to stand there?" Hyejin said while clinging on Byul's left side with a smile on her face.

"Yeah unnie, Byul unnie's back and we're complete again!" Wheein on the other hand, had her head burried in Byul's neck while looking at her.

Byulyi carefully untangled herself from the two and made her way over to Yongsun who was rooted to her spot. She didn't know what to expect from the young rapper so she just waited while hoding her breath.

"Maybe this is the time for us to start over again," Yongsun couldn't believe her ears, "don't you think so, unnie?"

Did she really just..? She called me unnie right now. I'm not dreaming am I?

"W-what?"

"I think you broke her Byul unnie." She pouted at Hyejin for her remark which made her and Wheein giggle. She quickly turned her eyes back to the girl in front of her finally accepting the fact that this is real.

Byulyi, her best friend, is finally back and judging by the look in the younger girls eyes she decided Yongsun was somehow worthy of a second chance. She didn't know what compelled her to do it but she grabbed Byul and brought her in for a hug. She felt the girl go stiff but when she was about to let her go she felt Byul's arm around her, albeit not as tight but it's a start.
